Eastern Counties League promotion odds
The bookmakers reckon promotion is unlikely this season without significant changes to the first-team squad and this is reflected by our 15-2 pre-season odds. The bookmakers reckon relegation is a possibility this season and have given us 9-2 to go down. A mid-table finish would be considered a good target.

Rands:
A mixed pre-season but we are looking in good shape. We have lost some good first team players but we are going to rely on some of our youth players and give them the chance to shine. Although we haven’t been given favourable odds for promotion this season it will still be our aim. We are looking at the players that have stuck with us to perform this season and to do this we need to get off to a good start in the first couple of months.

Rands:
The start of the month was the worst we have ever had by losing to an inferior side in the FA Cup but the team bounced back and I couldn’t have asked for a better start to the league campaign. At the half way stage of the season we are placed nicely to challenge for the league and promotion. We are 7 points away from first and we play the top teams in January so it is a big month for us that could make or break our season.

Shane Cambridge has come on leaps and bounds since his days of coming through our youth programme and Louis Peacock has scored more goals at the half way stage this season than he has previously scored in a full season for us. We need to keep hold of both these players and others if we are going to hit our target of promotion.

The Haverhill Rovers board are reportedly delighted that manager Steve Rands has reaffirmed his commitment to the club by denying any interest in the managerial position at Cheltenham.
With speculation rife that Rands is the right person to take over at The Jonny-Rocks Stadium, the Haverhill board will have undoubtedly feared their manager would be tempted by the chance to manage a bigger club.
Rands Rovers team lifted the FA Vase in 2020. Rands has shown a preference for younger talent during his time at Haverhill, with an average age of player brought in standing at just 21.

What a month!
5 wins from 5 games is a fantastic return but the way we have played has really been something to behold. We are 5 points behind 1st and we play them next so a must win game. Promotion is still a very real possibility but we have to win the league to do it.
A special mention goes to Jack Renew who scored his 50th goal for the club this month and as he is the first player to hit this landmark I’m sure the fans will remember him for a long time to come.

Steve Rands:
A month that I’m hopeful we can look back on as the one that turned our season into a winning one. Beating West Didsbury whilst they were first in the league was a huge result and to then overtake them and be top by 3 points with 8 games to go is amazing. We are currently on a record breaking run as a team and I’m hopeful our form can see us through to the end. The addition of Scott Belgrove was brilliant as he is too good for this division and he shares our vision for the future whilst also providing us with 3 top strikers for this level of football.

Isthmian North Division Promotion Odds
With the bookmakers believing promotion to be unlikely for Haverhill, their price of 70-1 seems to point more to the fact that they should be more concerned with avoiding relegation. With odds priced at evens for Haverhill to go down, it seems that the bookmakers are expecting them to struggle against relegation come the end of the season due to the step up in class of opposition.

Competitions Expectations
Isthmian North Division – Avoid a relegation battle
FA Cup – Reach First Qualifying Round
Isthmian League Cup – Reach Preliminary Round

Steve Rands:
A mixed preseason with the most matches we have ever played in a preseason but I wanted to make sure our fitness was on point for the start of the season whilst also earning the club some money.
Some good results against higher opposition and some not so good results but we are building and the squad is pretty much unchanged from last season apart from a few signings. I am delighted to welcome back Bivesh Gurung and I feel it was a big coup for us to get him back. This season will be a big step up in class but I feel the squad we have is capable of exceeding the board expectations and consolidate our position in this Division this season.
We have a couple of youngsters that have really impressed in preseason, none more so than Daniel Neil who is pushing for a first team place. We have some talented players coming through the youth team and I hope we will see them achieve what Shane Cambridge achieved last season and that is cementing a first team place.

Last season’s success still contribute to our appraisal of your current performance.

Steve Rands:
What a start to the season!
The Isthmian D1N is definitely a step up in class for us but after a rough start the month got better with some good wins. We were never expecting to go that far in the Isthmian League Cup so to go out, whilst disappointing, wasn’t really a surprise although we very nearly made it through. The FA Cup is a good money spinner so we are happy to make it through to the next round but our next match is against a team a lot higher than us in the football pyramid. Our aim this season is to consolidate our position in this division and we need to pick up points where we can and so far we are doing this.

Board Confidence Update
To summarise, the board are very pleased with your overall leadership of the team.
We haven’t forgotten about the successes of last season and they still play a small part in reviewing your current performance.

Steve Rands:
Our league form this month has been fantastic but we are now knocked out of all of the cups. Although we didn’t expect much from the cup competitions it is still disappointing to go out but it does enable us to concentrate on the league. Our league form has been a lot better than we expected and we are currently 3rd with a game in hand which could take us second.
A special mention must go to Louis Peacock as he not only reached the landmark of 50 goals for the club but he also reached 50 league goals for the club whilst breaking a four year old record of most goes scored in a match in the Isthmian D1N.
