Help with counter attacking tactic.

Not sure about play wider either, I usually use play narrower in counter tactics. You already leave the other team a lot of space by droping deeper, if you also create gaps by playing wider it might ecome problematic.

Yeah, this is an important point. When you're playing on the break, especially if you're away or you're the weaker team, you want your team to keep its shape without the ball and to stay narrow so that it's harder for the opposition to find space; you want to force them to widen their attack, first because it keeps the ball farther from your goal, and second because if they widen and you win the ball, then you've got open space to break into. This also means quick, direct passes into open space for one of your forwards to run onto, or out to your wingers for them to break down the flanks (this will depend on your opponent's shape).
