They have done it !!! AGAIN .... ( March Report )

Great morale in club, great form from players in last few months...and after bad start of season, Hajduk is playing better than ever. This month began with Croatian Cup Semi Final game against Zagreb, and they have won that match 2-1 on Kranjčevićeva. Four days later, another test for the ' Bili ' on Poljud, versus Slaven Belupo. Another great victory from Hajduk, and very easy one. Final score was 3-0 for home team. And after that, the whole season comes down to this match. Does they have enough strengh, concentration, determination to won this one, we will see that. Hajduk against Genoa, at Poljud on 11th of the March. Sensational match, you can find out everything below. Three days after exausting game against Italians, Hajduk is on the way to Stanovi, Zadar. Ivanišević decided to give his team a rest and he send reserve squad on the field against Zadar. That went great for him, because they managed to win by 1-0. Immediately after that game, Hajduk had to pack bags and move to Italy where they play return match against Genoa. Another great game in EURO Cup and ' Bili ' have prepared another surprise, or shock for the whole Europe. On 21st of March, three days after Genoa match they have probably an easy match against Sesvete on Poljud. Another win for them, Hajduk 3-0 Sesvete. Three days later, return match in Croatian Cup against Zagreb on Poljud ended 3-0 for home team. Last game in this month, Hajduk have to travel to Čakovec to play against Medjimurje, and they won that game also...and very very easy, 3-0 for guests.

Shock for Italy, Hajduk have won against Genoa !

We have expected another great match here on the Poljud, and we got one. Hajduk have won this match by 2-0 against great Italian team who passed Fenerbahce in First Knockout Round. The game was level until the last minute of first half when Mirko Oremuš gave lead for the hosts. The Italians had intended to return to the game in the second half, but in fifty-second minute Mirko Oremuš scored again and Hajduk has the advantage of two goals. They managed to hold on that lead until the last whistle of the game.

The dream become true ! Who will be next ?

Another great moments for Croatian football, but we didn't see this kind of playing from Croatian clubs for a long long time. They did needed a wake up call, is this that call ??? Hajduk is through to Quarter Final...and the only question is...who is next ? Will they be lucky in Draw ? or not .... Today, we could see one sided game, where only one team dominated whole match. And that team wasn't Genoa, they saved themselves in 83rd minute, because they were lucky. This game could easily end with 3 or 4 goals difference for Hajduk.

​

Another great month for my lads. Everything I've worked with them when I came to the club, is now starting to pay off. I know that this is great achievement to this club after the season 1994/1995 when Hajduk lost in Quarter Final of Champions League against Ajax.After that season, this club didn't have luck in European competitions and after all these years, it's time to start play a big role in European football. I'm happy that I have an opportunity to work with such quality, young and great potential players. There are few great clubs left in Quarter Final of Euro Cup, and if we lose...I would still be happy and proud on them.

Ivory Coast with easy victory !

​

On 3rd of March, Ivory Coast played against Faroe Islands, away. As expected, Ivory Coast win this match very easy by 5-0.The game began with total dominance of the guests and that repayed to them in 19th minute through Gervinho. Two minutes later, Romaric just confirmed victory for his team. Goran Ivanišević tried to bring Lacina Traore to Hajduk, Lyon also wanted young star and they bought him. Ivanišević had a chance to give first international cap for this young striker and he did, Traore repayed to him with first goal ( 29th minute ) in first appearance for Ivory Coast. In second half, Yapi Yapo scored two goals ( pen 49, 73 ) to final result of the game , 5-0

Manager thoughts in March ( international ) :

​

I wasn't on the bench when my lads played, but my assistant said as things went on the field. I'm glad that Lacina Traore scored a goal, and as I heard, a great performance of my team. I just hope that will continue. After all, soon...very soon, for month, or two...we are starting with our preparation for World Cup. Yes, we have only one game, and easy one before World Cup. But that doesn't matter, only that counts is results on The Tournament.

Hajduk draws Chelsea in Quarter Final !
Another great month in HNL ( April Report )

Hajduk have been drawn against Chelsea in Uefa Euro Cup Quarter Final, and big question is...Are they capable of doing another miracle . After all, Chelsea is far away from Porto or Genoa...this is one of the best teams on the World. First game is on 1st of April, on Poljud. We could see another great game here on the Poljud, as we have expected. Three days after Chelsea, Hajduk have an easy test against Zagreb on the Poljud. Hajduk have won that game by 2-0, and immediately after that game, the ' Bili ' have to pack their bags and go on trip to London. As we could expect, this was one sided match, but Hajduk had a few great chances to score on result 1-0 for Chelsea. They didn't succeed and after quarter final against Ajax in season 1994/95, they are stopped in quarter final again..but this time in Euro Cup. After Chelsea game, Hajduk have another away match, against Istra 1961 in HNL . They managed to win that match very easy, ( 3-1 )we never expected such performance after heavy game versus Chelsea. They had one day of rest after that game, and again....another away game, this time against Rijeka. Easy victory from guests, final score was 3-0 for Hajduk. 'Bili ' will play against Osijek four days later on Poljud, and we expect another victory from them. Incredible, Osijek managed to take one point from Poljud and they stopped Hajduk's winning streak of 14 wins in a row in HNL. After this game, we have 4 games until the end of season and Dinamo is infront of Hajduk for 4 points. Last game of season is between Hajduk and Dinamo on Poljud, but if Dinamo doesn't drop points in any game before that one, they are champions. Seven days after Osijek game,Hajduk have unpleasant game against Inter Zaprešić away. They won that match and result was 2-0 .

Hajduk have pulled tie against Chelsea !!!

In game where we expected large victory from Chelsea, we could see brave and very dangerous Hajduk. They have dominated whole first half on the pitch and that domination resulted for them in 32nd minute from Corner Kick. Corner was taken by Hrvoje Vejić and Buljat forced the goalwards with a header and Hajduk had a lead of 1-0.As second half was on the way, Chelsea take over control of the game and Frank Lampard scored equalising goal in 71st minute. Game ended as draw and this quarter final will be decided in London.

Hajduk lost against Chelsea, and sensation of Uefa Euro Cup is stopped ! Torcida and Ivanišević proud on players ...

This game started as we predicted, Chelsea have dominated whole match and first goal was scored in 16th minute. Goalscorer was Michael Essien, and Hajduk had few chances to equalise after that goal. But unfortunately for Torcida, new shock happend in 30th minute. Nicolas Anelka scored for 2-0, and Chelsea had great advantage from which Hajduk never came back. Didier Drogba only confirmed great Chelsea victory in 72nd minute and Hajduk is finished in Uefa Euro Cup.Question is, where will they play next year ? Uefa European League or Champions League ?

​

I must say that I can't be more proud on my lads. They didn't lose against Chelsea on Poljud, that was our task. Yes, Chelsea is through...but Chelsea is one of the best teams in the World and we managed to stay draw with them. No one could expect anything from us on Stamford Bridge, that would be crazy. We lost this quarter final and we can move on with our heads high and expect more next year. In HNL, I'm unhappy with Osijek game...because we should have won that game with 23 shots toward the goal and we didn't score. Now, we must wait and hope that Dinamo will drop points in next few games.Last three games of season are against Dinamo, first one in Croatian Cup in Maksimir...second in League on Poljud, and third game is second leg in Cup at Poljud. I still believe that we could win those two trophies.

First game of this month is against Karlovac at Poljud,and of course..everyone expects victory from Hajduk.As we expected,Hajduk won that game very easy, final score was 3-0. Next game was seven days later, and we expect that Hajduk will struggle against Varteks in Varaždin.After Varteks scored for 1-0,Hajduk started to play and they won this match easy,result on the end was 3-1 for guests. Dinamo failed against Rijeka on Maksimir, Radomir Djalović scored for Rijeka in 17th minute and Rijeka is in lead.Until the 70th minute, Hajduk could celebrate but then equalising goal from Andrej Kramarić and Dinamo have hope for victory on Maksimir. Game finished with result 1-1, and champion will be decided at Poljud. Three days after Varteks game, Hajduk will travel on Maksimir where they will play First Leg of Croatian Cup. Another amazing performance on Maksimir from the ' Bili '.Great performance resulted in Hajduk victory of 3-0, and they can play second leg with reserves.Then, the biggest match of the season for both teams, Hajduk - Dinamo on Poljud. Hajduk have smashed Dinamo, again with same goal difference. For a long time, we didn't see such dominance of Hajduk against Dinamo in mutual matches.The return match, 2. leg in Cup Hajduk have won again. And again, very easy...Final score was 2-0 for ' Bili ' .

Ivanišević's HNK Hajduk Split crowned Croatian league champions !!!

After amazing show in Croatian Cup from Hajduk, next challenge for them is last game of the season against Dinamo. If they win, they are the champions...but if they don't, next season...another Uefa Euro Cup adventure. As game started, Hajduk dominated on every side of the pitch. That resulted for them in 24th minute when Marin Ljubičić scored for 1-0 lead. After goal by Mirko Oremuš three minutes later , the whole Poljud begins to celebrate the championship after 5 years of drought. Only one question is left...with how many goals will Hajduk win todays game ? In 71st minute, Anderson scored a goal and confirmed the victory on Poljud and Torcida can be sure and begin their big celebration after 5 years.

Yes ! Hajduk do the Double !!!

Another flood of Dinamo Zagreb at the Poljud resulted in a double title for Hajduk Split. The flood occurred in the second half in exactly three minutes. Goalscorers are Hrvoje Vejić and Anas Sharbini in sixty-eight and seventy-first minute of the match. Hajduk has finally succeeded after five years without a title. And this time they won the double crown. We congratulate Goran Ivanišević for everything he has accomplished this year.

I can not believe the way we finished this season. I'm happy for the fans who were cheering us the whole season. Of course, I imagined what will happen if we win the double title, but what is happening now ... like I was a hero.
