Hobbs Leads Consortium To Complete Takeover

doncaster-keepmoat-stadium-11.jpg

It has finally been announced that wealthy buisness investor Frankie Hobbs has finally completed the takeover of Doncaster Rovers, and has announced his big vision for the Hoops. In long talks, Frankie Hobbs has taken complete control, buying the club off long standing chairman John Ryan.

Doncaster started the 2009-10 season away at Vicarage Road with a 1-1 draw against Watford. Their first win of the season came at home against Cardiff City 5 games into the season when they won 2-0. Doncaster finished the 2009-10 season marginally better than their first season back in the Championship, finishing two places higher in 12th and earning two more points than the previous season finishing on 60 points. This was despite a promising period towards the end of the season which saw Doncaster close to the play-off places, thanks in part to Sheffield United loanee Billy Sharp who scored 15 goals for Doncaster during his stay.

''I am very glad to announce we have finally struck a deal to buy this exciting football club. I see this as not a 2 year investment, where I am looking at profits all the time, but I want this yorkshire club to overtake Leeds, and become a dominant force of English football. Of course losing Sean O'Driscoll to Portsmouth means there is a vacancy, which I will have to fill. The new boss will be given sufficient budgeting to make Donny a Premiership club by 2011.''

Nice start, wish you both the best of luck ;)

So what? Your both the manager's of Doncaster or what?

Frankie's idea for this, he takes the credit 8-|

I'll have my own OP up in a second, on this thread.

i may be wrong but i think hobbs is the chairman and max is the manager

This is going to be one of those inspiring stories. :P

Good luck guys! :D

Sunday morning; not my best of days, if I may so myself. I'd woken up expecting a regular Sunday morning, cleaning the house, meeting the girlfriend, and just having a really **** boring day really.

I'd turned on Sky Sports News as I regularly do, to find that Doncaster had been taken over by London businessman, Frankie Hobbs. I had no real job, and there had be a rumour going around that they were open to any applications of a serious nature, of course myself as an 18 year old student trying to make a way for myself in life, this would be perfect; think of all that money!

I had sent my application just 3 hours later, I didn't expect much but I had nothing to lose by trying. They had acknowledged my application by notification via text; where would we be without technology? I had a small bit of experience in football in the management department, I had been a youth coach at Portsmouth when I was 16 for a short period of time before they entered administration and I was made redundant, and since then I've never been able to find my feet in football again; is this now my time to return to the beautiful game?

Of course, if it wasn't for that clown Papa Bouba Diop, I would be still with a chance of professional football..

was thinking of doing a story by being chairman of liverpool!

Had first lot of applicants in today, for the vacant managers job left by O'Driscoll. Even though we did get a 1m compensation package from Portsmouth, we will still want a manager without any jobs, to avoid any trouble regarding contracts, and compensation. The feedback we got from the initial advert was decent, although I don't think the level is quite what I expected. These are a few of the Names.

  • Paul Ince
  • Sol Campbell
  • Tony Mowbray
  • Max King

I knew most of these applicants, and decided that interviews were not needed for everyone. I decided to bring in Max King and Sol Campbell. Sol talked in great length about passion, yet it was really clear to see he lacked any knowledge on how to be a manager and even hadn't got any coaching badges of note. Next was Max King, someone who I had personally not heard of. He spoke about how he was the youth team coach at Portsmouth, but had been made redundant. He seemed to me to be a very knowledgeable man, yet had great humbleness and was very well-mannered. Although being a risk, someone like him, could be a great coup. Being so young, I felt he could relate to the players and be 'one of the lads'. I gave him a run down of what I wanted to do with the club, and he seemed to be happy, and I said I would talk to him in the near future about a contract and how we could sort out some budgets and funding. His hair was a bit dodgy, and I didn't really like his shoes, but I'm sure I can teach him fashion sense before he starts the job. He seems ambitious, and could be the mercurial man to take this club to the next level.

Great idea, but I won't be following as I'm not really a fan of these perspective stories.

But good luck guys :)

Best get those sunglasses out then Hobbsy ;)

Nice update(s) both.

so have u edited the transfer money or are u not a tycoon chairman ?

A sense of relief;

I'd left the interview, with a great sense of self-confidence. It went extremely well, we spoke for around 45 minutes about each of our personal ambitions and what we thought was possible with Doncaster, and we agreed on quite a lot of things.

One thing we certainly agreed on, was that investment was needed. Doncaster had a decent sized stadium, but no real financial backing with the previous chairman, yet Frankie made it clear he had the resources to improve the club, and the ambition along with it. I saw Sol Campbell leaving his office around 15 minutes before I was asked to come into the room, which I must say slashed my confidence into pieces seeing such an accomplished footballer going head to head with me for a manager's job. Personally, I think Sol doesn't have a clue what day of the week it is.

I guess I just await the call now to confirm I've either been named the new manager, or that I've been rejected which would mean I would be screwed. No job, no money, nothing, just numerous failed attempts..
