Looks good so far, pity it's being done by gays though. (K)

By the way, I'm a fan of these 'perspective stories' so I'll be definitely looking out for this. ;)

Hobbs: King is our man

article-0-016147DD00000578-290_468x317.jpg

Frankie Hobbs has announced that Max King is to become manager of Doncaster on a two year contract worth 2.2k a week. It will be Max King's first job in management, being the tender age of 18, he will be the youngest manager of an english team. With his only previous experience being as a youth coach, Max will be looking to make his mark quickly and try to silence the inievitable critics that surround such a shock announcement.

I see no reason why Max can't lead us to the Premier League and beyond. I believe he will be one of the greatest coaches to grace the game in modern years, and his youth could be just the breath of fresh air that is needed. I see it as more of a calculated risk rather than a gamble. King will be given my backing, and I hope the Doncaster faithful will do the same.

Shocked... :O Didn't see that coming ;)

"You are the new manager"

They were the words that were echoing through my head as I put down the phone, with my hands shaking like a leaf blowing in a tornado. I couldn't believe it, I'd just beaten Sol Campbell to a managers job at a professional football club in the Championship, something beyond my wildest dreams.

I don't even know when I started my job, I'm still wondering how the **** I'm going to get to work tomorrow morning. I've been told I'll be given a 'solid budget', but then I guess that differs on what you think a 'solid budget' is. In my eyes, £50 for a night out is a 'solid budget', but then again for Mr.Hobbs a 'solid budget' could be millions.

Whatever happens, I'm going to look forward to this..

I really like how you're taking turns to progress.

Yeah, just seems easier and simpler that way instead of one jumping miles ahead etc. 8-|

Frankie's got some things to do, so we might have another update tonight, I'm not sure. :)

I hope you don't spoil this by making Doncaster rich :(

Good luck guys

The budget discussion;

It was my first meeting with Frankie since being named as manager of Doncaster Football Club, it was a bit tense when we first started talking again but it soon was easy to talk to each other again in a calm voice, without any random high pitched words because of the nervousness inside me.

Frankie was clear in his expectations, a mid table finish is what was expected of me. I first thought this may be quite a challenge, with the squad probably doubting any ability in me to get them out of this division and into the Premier League, and were probably confident it was a tough season ahead for them. Although, a glimmer of light was given to me by Frankie, handing me an astonishing £3m budget to secure new players for the club, and to improve our league position.

As soon as he told me my budget, thoughts ran through my head of all the players I could now buy for the squad. I quickly underlined to Frankie that I felt I needed a new 'keeper, another striker and a right winger, which he, with his surprisingly good knowledge of football for a Chairman, quickly agreed on.

I was now ready to enter the transfer market with all guns blazing, I had no definite players that I wanted, but I had a rough idea of how I wanted us to play tactically and what formation etc, so I knew what type of players I would need.

Only time will tell now if I can pull this off and make Doncaster a Premier League side by Frankie's 2011 deadline.

I hope you don't spoil this by making Doncaster rich :(

We thought we should pump a little money in, seeing as it was a take over with a new chairman, it's nothing outrageous though to be honest. :)

Just had a meeting with Max, he outlined some targets, I told him who I thought was in price range, and who I thought we could really bring in.

He seemed to understand about transfers and the behind the scenes stuff. These were the main targets he seemed to want.Just had a meeting with Max, he outlined some targets.

These were the ones I felt were acheviable.

  • Alex Smithies *
  • Baba
  • Aron Gunnarsson
  • De Laet
  • Harewood

I quickly got onto the phone to Huddersfield over Smithies. They seemed relectant to sell. Max said he would probably be willing to give 50% of his budget. I managed to work to a deal of 1.2m, which he was really pleased with. We also got a quick deal done over Harewood, on a loan deal for the rest of the season, another signing we were both excited about. I was really pleased he wanted Gunnarsson as I really rate him, and could see him as a future captain.

I told him I would work on the rest and get back to him. I then told him about a player whom I have heard alot about. His name is Jaroslav Cerny. I told Max that I was going to bring him in, and it wouldn't affect the transfer budget, as it was my signing. He agreed, as I reassured him he would be our main player in our possible playoff challenge. I hoped Jaroslav would not dissapoint, and had to get back into contact with his club to see if we could agree terms with Jaroslav?

Just as a little note, Baba turns out very good, I had him over Demba Ba in my Senegal save after Ba couldn't find the net, 6 goals in 7 for me, including a goal in the African Cup of Nations final

Great idea with this lads, I will follow with interest.

Thanks for all the kind comments, I'm going to sleep now so no more updates from me tonight, but tomorrow I'll do a few updates. :)

Great start :) Try sign Cristaldo on loan, brilliant championship player.
