I am running an experiment. I am trying to figure out which mental attributes, including hidden ones, will affect a kid developing. But I kinda got lost in what is "success" regarding one player.

The experiment includes 20 identical 14 year old kids, injected into the database with 100 current ability and 200 potential ability. They are DMC/MC natural. And they have 10 in all attributes, 1 in injury proneness and 6 attributes different between one and another:

The different attributes are:

-Ambition
-Consistency
-Determination
-Important Matches
-Proffesionalism
-Work Rate

Each kid has 3 of the attributes above maxed (20) . They start as free agents and they game is run on holiday.

The big question is how to measure "success"?

is it who has the highest current ability?
is it who has the highest current reputation?
other?

Thanks for any feedback.

I guess you have to take a lot of things into account, I guess CA should be important but also In game stats, how many games played, rating, goals, assist, just take everything into account.

I don't know if people would be interested to know some results, but a funny thing is that 8 years later man utd owns 6 out of 20 players which are *almost* identical DMC/MC.

I would personally rate them by rating more than anything else. Goals obviously raise a rating, so I'd keep that in mind - since I'm not expecting a DM/MC to score, I'd give a few minus points for goals, because they will make a DM/MC look like he's playing better than he really is.

Don't forget other factors that affect development. If they are free agents they will end up at different clubs with different coaches, facilities, and players to tutor.

Of course Alienman, you are right.

There were a lot of players that developed just because the club had better training facilities. I would say that facilities AND 2-5 games per season will develop a player better than another one who is a regural at worse training facilities.

I did a complex rating system to rate all 20 players, and ignoring other factors it come up with this order of those 6 attributes from best to worse:

1) Proffesionalism
2) Determination
3) Ambition
4) Consistency
5) Important matches
6) Work rate
