Exactly.

If a manager - not Louis Van Gaal, this is a rookie manager who hasn't actually managed before, remember that - came into United, sold Robin Van Persie and the entire team got (rightly) ****** off about it, you bet your **** the United board would consider sacking him.

Wouldn't the board just block the transfer then, and instead issue the manager a warning or something?

The board don't know how the squad would react. They put their faith in the manager to make the right decision and he didn't. The board usually only block transfers due to factors that they can control, like finances or reputation.

Among the top clubs, I've found that the Board only ever block transfers of targets for whom too much compensation has to be paid for termination of contract. Or, in some rare cases, club legends. Otherwise, you're pretty much free to do as you will. Difference was, in FM14, you could do anything, and squad wouldn't give a ****. Only the supporters would be unhappy, devastated w/e (take your pick), but that didn't affect your job status.

In FM15, players have lots of opinions, and if you don't assuage their concerns, they revolt, and the squad revolts with them. It snowballs into something big. So more realistic. Damned inconvenient, sure, but realistic. What I don't like, however, is senior players complaining about some reserve players being sold, which is just irritating.

Well, the United board wouldn't hire an unknown manager anyway, so I guess comparing to real life is kind of futile.

I was talking about in a real life scenario though. But like I just said, none of it would happen in real life anyway.

Those are fair points on both sides of the debate, I think.

'GUISE I SOLD ONE OF THE BEST STRIKRS IN THE WURLD AND REPLACAD HIM WITH SOME TEENAGGERS AND THEN THE TEEM GOT MAD AT ME WTF SI FIX GAEM PLZ'
This must have taken you at least 30mins to type!

Well, to be fair, the OP got sacked because of bad squad harmony. Not because he sold RvP, but because he couldn't maintain harmony after selling RvP. No matter how much logic it makes, you've to convince your players of the same. That's where high mental attributes come into play. I managed to soothe the squad after selling Rooney, and harmony was pretty good. (Demo)

The bad squad harmony was a direct result of the RVP sale. Unless the team wasn't happy enough with 4 wins out of 4. Maybe they wanted to score at least 6 or 7 against newcastle.

Yeah. Makes sense dat.

And that is where Manager attributes come into play. Obviously squad harmony will be bad after the sale of a key player. However, you have to immediately talk to the team and resolve that (High Manager attributes will help there). If it is not resolved, obviously it will snowball, despite you winning the next 4 games out of 4. Your results later will not matter, if harmony is already bad.

The new tracksuit/tactical manager is a double-edged sword. Unless you are at the highest mental attributes (or near highest), you can't resolve these problems properly - Atleast one or more will remain unhappy.

If Van Gaal sold RVP he wouldn't get sacked.

Get out of Sports Interactives *** and admit this is a stupid feature of FM15. Jesus ******* christ.

Yeah, but you don't have the reputation and experience of Van Gaal. You start as a rookie manager, that's the point of the game.

Also², name one case of a manager getting sacked solely for selling one (1) player.

Name one case of a rookie manager taking over a huge club, selling his best player from his will and replacing him with a 18 years old kid.

Only example I can think of was Guardiola and Ronaldinho - and even than, Guardiola had a 'club legend' status and the players didn't turn on him.

I can understand some players being unhappy with selling a key player and I can also see the board might consider sacking a manager should there be severe unrest in the dressing room. However, I can't help but feel the way these thing spiral in FM as a bit ridiculous.

I have not experienced something quite so bad yet. At Arsenal, Szczesny was unhappy that he was not sold to Roma - despite the fact we were top by 10 points and Roma were not even interested in signing him let alone made a bid. Szczesny himself soon changed his mind and declared himself happy to stay, but that didn't stop half the squad still being unhappy at my treatment of him.

Name one case were Barca sold Messi for 5million and then the garden fence broke and then there is a kitchen sink with a slug in it. And then some.

Guardiola wasn't a rookie. And Guardiola sold Ronaldinho who was way out of form, shape and mentality to be ever again world class player.
