Pre-season

Its been a very busy pre-season, with many transfers both in and out of the club. It was disappointing not to be able to get Banton back on loan, so I had to look at other options. I bought in Jacob Cleaver and Vences Bola. I also got in Connor Tighe on a free transfer from Brighton. He is an excellent squad player who can play in all attacking midfield positions. I believe that the squad I have now is stronger, and I am hoping Cleaver and Bola will be able to show similar goal scoring prowess to Banton.

The new season started with high hopes after two very good victories, but since then things have taken a turn for the worse. 3 games without victory, 2 losses and 1 draw. The attackers have been doing their part, getting 15 goals in the 5 games, but in the last 3 my defenders seem to have forgotten how to defend. A 3-4 and 2-3 defeat followed by a 2-2 draw means that we are floundering in 11th. Much work is needed on the training ground.

Eastbourne Boro 0 - 3 Sutton Utd

Excellent start to the season. A 3-0 victory over Eastbourne Boro. New signing Bola took just 16 minutes to get of the mark on his debut.

Sutton Utd 5 - 0 Hayes & Yeading

An even more impressive match in our first home game of the season. Wellard has a superb game, scoring a thunderous 30 yard shot. Goals from Haysman and Raeburn, as well as two own goals gave us an impressive victory and another clean sheet.

Sutton Utd 3 - 4 Hemel Hempstead

A very disappointing defeat considering we held the lead 3 times. Bola got his second goal of the season.

Another very poor game. Lack of concentration at the back, and poor finishing up top really cost us this game.

Another game which we struggled. It took a last gasp effort from Connor Tighe to secure a draw.

An improved month, but I am potentially one game away from being sacked. After our poor form continued, the board summoned me to an emergency meeting and told me that I have to get 9 points from the next 5 games in order to save my job. Since then we have been unbeaten in the league, and have picked up 8 points in 4 games. Now I just need to gain a point in that final game to keep my job.

Sutton Utd 3 - 4 Oxford City

Another crazy high scoring game in which we just couldnt defend. We dominated the match and it was a real kick in the teeth not to even get a point from the games. After this game my board demanded I get them 9 points.

We started the games with a 3-3 draw. Again poor defending didnt help out cause. Cleaver got his first goal of the season in the game.

Cancord Rangers 3 - 4 Sutton Utd

Finally! Back to winning ways. Thats now 4 out of 9 points. Jamie Smith was Man of the match getting himself two goals.

Sutton Utd 3 - 2 Bishop's Stortford

Thats two wins in a row now and 7 points on the board. Just 2 more to go. Again we dominated the game, and a 3-2 scoreline was very flattering on Bishop's Stortford

Havant & W 0 - 0 Sutton Utd

I have very satisfied with a 0-0 draw against Havant & W. Not only are they top of the league, but we also kept a clean sheet. I also got a news item after this game saying I had now managed Sutton Utd for 20 games, and we had scored 73 goals in that time!

Kingstonian 2 - 1 Sutton Utd (FA Cup)

Despite the recent good form in the league we had a disappointing loss in the FA cup against Kingstonian. I at least wanted to reach the next round.

Just seen the latest update has improved lots of LLM stuff. Hopefully that will make things a little more realistic.

How are people finding my story so far anyway?
 
I am enjoying it, like the fact that you haven't had instant success and haven't managed to sign the players you maybe wanted to sign!
 
Yea i'm enjoying it mate, like to see someone struggling for results like i usually do lol. Good read.
 
I managed to save my job and we did it in style too. We just needed a point against Gosport, but we managed to win the game 6-1! we also went the whole month unbeaten, with 2 wins and 3 draws. That means we are now unbeaten in 9 games.

What an excellent way to save my job. The lads really stepped up, and it could have even been 7-1 had Haysman converted his penalty and got his hattrick.

Another really solid victory for us. Again we are struggling to keep a clean sheet, but while we are outscoring the opposition that is ok I guess.

A fiercely contested game against Canvey Island ended in a 2-2 draw. Both sides had a man sent off, but a late rally from my side saw us get two goals in the final 8 minutes. Nice for it to go my way for a change!

Chelmsford 3 - 3 Sutton Utd

We gifted Chelmsford a draw after scoring 2 own goals and missing a penalty. Loan signing Carney got his 4th goal in 7 games, while Jamie Smith could have taken his tally to 9 had he also converted the penalty


Sutton Utd 0 - 0 Farnborough

Disaster! A 0-0 draw. This is the first time my side had ever failed to score a goal. A clean sheet was the silver lining of the game though

We are currently sat in 6th in a very close table. We could jump to 3rd with a victory, but if results go against us we could drop as low as 12th

After applying for a job at Nuneaton, my board became extremely unhappy and asked me to apologise for my actions, which I did. They then turned around and told me the REJECTED MY APOLOGY! This now means that I am without a club for a second time. Perhaps now I might look abroad. Maybe in France or Italy.

Harsh board there mate demand an apology then fire you anyway! Actually never had that happen to me & ive had to apologise ALOT lol
 
Sorry it's been a whole since I've updated. Been busy with a new business venture. Should be an update this weekend.

Once again I was not left out of work for too long. After being rejected by several Vanarama Premiership sides, I was finally offered a job by Macclesfield, who were relegated to the Vanarama North division last year.

I have also decided to change my tactical approach now that I have been sacked twice. I have gone for a 5-3-2 formation. I have decided to try and get a possession game working too. I know this is very hard in the lower leagues, but there is no harm in trying!

It is really hard! Im just gonna try stick at it with Macclesfield now. My stats are improving too so hopefully soon I can at least get a job in the Vanarama Prem division.

Yeah it is a pain, but the do improve over time. Couple of my stats have gone up by 2 or 3
 
So I got a bit carried away and ended up playing to the end of the season. Fair to say it was so shocking im not even gonna write about it. All you need to know is that I didnt get sacked (somehow) and I will be returning to the normal story at the end of the 2016/17 pre-season!
 
Nice story !

Just started myself in the conference south with Whitehawk, and i got a Banton type of my own!

Charlie Webster, got him on loan from Gillingham, 12 goals in his first 6 games :D
 
2016/17 Pre-season

After the disappointment of last season, there was a big clear out of players as well as several coming in. I have high hopes for young striker Bradley Reid. We were ok going forward last season, but I am hoping he will be able to get even more goals for us. Defensively though we were shocking, am I am hoping several of the players I have brought in will help sure that defence up. Below are some of our top players

The board want me to achieve promotion this season, which could mean I get the sack again. I really hope not though!​
