TOULOUSE SCRAPING BARGAIN BASEMENT
View attachment 80267

Toulouse have spent a large part of the summer scraping the bargain basement following their €16m purchase of Thomas Hudson, with each player being placed on the transfer list at their respective clubs

First brought in was Julian Rainford, brought in from Arsenal for €4.9m

Rainford, 24, came through the ranks at Arsenal, but, like so many, never made a league appearance for the Gunners

The midfielder instead spent time on loan at Huddersfield, Aston Villa, Brighton, Norwich and Celtic, making a combined 161 league appearances

Also brought in was Ilie Mora, who joins Toulouse from Barcelona for a fee of €2m

Mora, like Rainford, never made an appearance for his former club, instead spending time on loan at Deportivo Alaves, Malaga and Real Valladolid. Making a combined 146 league appearances

Next on the list is fellow Massimo Arena, who's joined from fellow French side Paris Saint-Germain for €1.8m

Arena, 24, joined PSG as a teenager from Pescara Calcio for €4m and made 18 league appearances for the Parisians

The Italian goalkeeper, however, fell out of favour at Emery Park and has now joined Toulouse for a reduced fee

Last but not least is Jaap Boere, who's joined from Manchester United for €4.2m

Toulouse's transfer window has been the story of the failed wonderkid and Boere is no different, having a huge around of hype since joining Spart Rotterdam for €9m from Willhelm II as an 18 year old

The teen scored 47 goals in 71 league games for the club which earned him his big move to United, but he never made a league appearance for the Red Devils

Agreed. I've made club legends of plenty of United, City, Chelsea and Arsenal rejects.

Its the way to go

I signed a 18/19 year old regen centre back on a free from Man City for Birmingham on FM2014, went on to make 100s of appearances and captain the side to the PL as well as Wales, there's not much more satisfying than that

View attachment 80090

Right winger Jean-Jacques Fournier has joined Toulouse on a season long loan deal from Middlesbrough as Les Pitchouns look to strengthen their squad

Fournier joined Boro from Fenerbahce for €18.75m in January of 2037 following his release from AS Monaco, for whom he never made a league appearance

Instead the 30 year old, who's made 115 Premier League appearances for Boro, spent a total of 7 seasons out on loan at Sochaux-Montbeliard, Stade Rennais (twice), Cordoba, Sevilla, Stuttgart and Montpellier, racking up 1184 league appearances across 4 separate divisions

Fournier has joined a free flowing Toulouse side who've scored 9 goals in their opening 5 games despite facing Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille

Toulouse opened the season with a 2-0 win at home to Dijon, before beating Le Havre away from home. Toulouse also let a two goal lead slip at home to Marseille in a 3-3 draw before losing 3-0 to PSG and 3-1 to Stade Rennais

MOUSTAPHA N'DIAYE - €1.5m - AJ AUXERRE

Real Madrid wanted N'Diaye so we swooped in early to secure our first wonderkid

Very nice. Also the joys of youth intakes at clubs of a slightly lesser reputation - all three of those players could actually be key players for Toulouse, whereas at a PSG or a Bayern they might only ever make squad players.

Need to get that Cissé kid some tutoring to raise his Determination...

This is my first FM17 story following my FM16 story on this website http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/foot...my-little-pick-shovel-cardiff-city-story.html (Cheeky plug). This will be a journeyman save, I don't do these often so this will probably end badly.

A year and a bit later and I've received a very similar e-mail from Bristol University. Anyone know if the Loughgall job's available? :p
