Is the game realistic enough for you?

The game isn't realistic enough for me. I've seen some really weird things happen in my game over the years (however this is decreasing with each new game) but it really takes away from the effect of playing it.

I'm talkiing about things that happen that you know wouldn't if it was real life football. Like, I've started a new game and I set my past experience to semi-professional footbaler and now I'm getting linked with a load of jobs that I know I shouldn't really be, I've decided to stay unemployed until a job comes up from three local teams which I won't bother mentioning and I'm in my third season of waiting to get one of these jobs and I've been offered two positions which I thought were quite strange, the U19 Northern Ireland job and the Rochdale job in League 1. Also there are other things unrealistic like when it comes to signing coaches, I remember playing 2011 a while back as Liverpool and I offered an unemployed Paul Jewell the assistant position along with other former managers but none of them would take it because the game has them as managers and the assistant role would be a lower position but I'm sure if this was real life they would accept such a role at a big club like that. I also hate the way assistants won't take the job of First Team Coach and the Coaches won't take the job of Youth Coach, most of the time even if they are offered a wage increase, seems quite stupid. I remember playing either 2009 or 2010 when Warrenpoint, a Northern Ireland second division team were looking for a manager and the job went to Liverpool Assitant Steve Clarke although he was unemployed at the time but how unbelievable is that? I mean he was the assistant of Premiership clubs Chelsea and West Ham, he would most likely get any Northern Ireland Premier Division jobs but probably wouldn't even want one.

Well anyway, rant over, I wish they would sort out some of the faults in this game, it does spoil it slightly...

Yeah I think they do a pretty good job but some things are very unrealistic. Like Giuseppe Rossi refuses to enter negotiations with my Juventus team which has dominated the league for the last 3 seasons, but in real life he recently said he really wants to play somwhere in Italy.

its the most realistic game out there without a doubt , but the more you play the more you pick up on the little bits of unrealism in the game. like i'm a crewe alex fan real life and i know when port vale are in town our attendances double its a derby and our biggest game of any season. our average attendance is just under 4k but when vale are in town its 6-7 sometimes even 8k attendances. on the game however when vale are in town 3.7k attendance.

Transfers and expanding the clubs in long term games certainly need a lot of work.

Transfers in current version actually seems to be going through far too complex system of checks and variables. Real life is simple, bigger club in bigger city, when offering best money and transfer fee, will sign the player 95 out 100 times. Adding some extra variables just to make that extra 5% of transfers realistic, seems to be constantly messing up the 95% instead.

When expanding the clubs in long term games you far too often run into road blocks that really shouldn't be there.

Of course, managing one club for several years is not a very realistic thing in itself, but that's another story.

Otherwise i'd say realism is on decent level.

There is nothing better, this game is realistic enough for me so far.. I think half of the problems is because you expect a player/coach to sign for you because you are having success, does not always work out like that though.

It's incredibly realistic. Sure there are a few minor inconsistencies, there's bound to be, but for the most part it's brilliant. Love it.

It's realistic if you just sim the game, but when you play it it's kind of unrealistic. In my first season managing Arsenal, with a hand-made tactic, 6mil worth of transfers and some coaches, I win the League, Carling Cup, FA Cup and reach the UCL final where I barely lose on penalty kicks.

when the ball is about to go out of play and your player touches it out when it would've been his ball :S

Its transfers for me, top clubs dont target the top players most of the time and get average one's about three seasons in and there is load of nobodys in the top sides

I think they have definitely made it more difficult to transfer players on 12 than it was on FM11. Whether this is more realistic I dunno, but it maybe said that some clubs do have real problems selling players on long contracts and/or high wages.

I do like the option if you manage to sell a player on a long contracts and/or high wages, the player can ask for the difference in his new wages be paid up until the end of his contract. This occurred quite often on FM11, but only once I have noticed this on 12 when I managed to offload Downing on my LFC save (to Fulham for £16m - and yes, I did bite their hands off)!

Not the case for me, can't really be bothered to go through who the top teams have but they are not full of nobodys :P

player demands can be quite stupid at times but i guess that's realistic?
For example i have Cleverley who's alot weaker than 2 regens i have in the squad. I was going to let him retire with United but he demands 90k+ wages when he just comes off the bench for most games, even he does has the rare start he doesnt perform. Now i'm trying to move him on and he's rejected both Juventus and Arsenal because he wants more money =.= i already told him he's not in my plans...

Don't get me wrong, I think the game is incredibly realistic compared to any other football based games out there, I mean I love it, it's my favourite game but there are definitely things that need to be repaired and easily could be. I hope Football Manager 2013 fixes some of these problems, also I wish they would revert back to a skin more similar to that of FM09 but that's a different topic for discussion.

Imagine if it was that realistic that, in your first ever managerial job, you get a team in the League 1 playoff's two seasons running, with a club record 43 match unbeaten run. Then, sitting 4th having lost just 3 of your last 55 league games, you get sacked.

Be careful what you wish for...

Wouldn't be a terrible thing to happen tbh, if they made it so realistic that people were suprised by your sacking and there were things like fan protests to get you your job back and the media going against the boards decision, could result in you getting a better job.

Lee Clark will get another job and hopefully be successful with his new club, his replacement Grayson was also harshly sacked by his last club and is very capable.
