Is this cheating?

If I make an offer for a player of £0 with a clause of £40 million after 50 games, but sell the player after 49 games therefore signing most players for free and making money from it?
 
I wouldn't say so. It's unrealistic maybe, but not cheating. After all, its the clause you gave, you're not breaking the rules or anything. It just means you wont be able to field that player because you don't want to. You'll have to play without him, life's a ***** but it saved you however much money!
 
Its not cheating but I doubt a team would go for it.

IRL teams do it, Rangers stopped playing michael ball ,not only beacuase hes **** but beacuse it would have cot them X amount if he'd played another game
 
If the game lets you do it then is cheating because you will be taking advantage of a glitch in my opinion.:P
 
Yes,not exactly like that though,clubs aren't totally stupid.
 
Not sure Gregor, can't say I've tried it. I often do put in clauses after certain amount of games but I can't say I have ever tried to offer nothing up front.
 
i have a friend who does just like that.. and what is more is that sometimes he buys alot of players this way and then get fired so the new manager keeps on playing the players and the team bankrupt eventually

i don't think it's cheatin.. i think it's a legal way to bend the rules to your favour but i won't consider doing it though
 
teams do go for it someone in my network game was using it so i kicked them, its cheating. cos 50 internation league appearances take years, the manager will leave the club before then, and that club will be in debt.

It is, its an obvious buig which people are exploiting.

Just like how the diablo tactic was cheating
 
or the two corner tactics we have had in recent years. Im sure you need to have the 40m in your bank for the deal to go through?
 
I've used it since FM 07 but have always felt a bit guilty even though it helps a lot. You don't have to have the money as I use this with Hartlepool and can buy a full team using it. I just have to make sure they don't get to the 50th game or I'm in big trouble. I also sell them for cheap with clauses of 50% of next sale and a buy back.
 
does it work in your games? cos i juz tried it with hull city with the 9.2 patch and such deals simply fall through cos my team doesn't have enough funds. i offered $0 + $40 million after 40 games :D
 
how can anyone say its not atleast a "form" of cheating, when would sunderland buy vagner love for "free" and turn out they will pay 20 times there bank balance after 50 appearances then sell him before the 50th. Football manager is created to give you to most realistic form of football management and the closer its getting to be as realistic as it can, people who are using this are pushing themselves further away. no its not an actual cheat, but you will always know if you suceed after using that it that you suceeded pathetically.

Yup, exploiting something that is clearly a bug is cheating.

It has to be after 50 games to work, sometimes they'll try to negotiate and change it to 40 but just change it back to the 50 and they'll eventually accept.
