We win the third qualifying round of the cup against Lecce with ease. The scoreline does not suggest how the game went, but it was a comfortable win nevertheless. Anelka netted his first Milan goal, and Benteke scored his first of the season in a bid to revive his Milan career.​

We were unlucky today, we gave away a sloppy goal but always looked to be on top. Unfortunately for us Genilson earned himself an early bath by earning his second booking on a silly challenge, I will be fining him for it as we really did need to be disiplined for this one game to get our season started. It's a set back, and I've not had one of these in a while, time to regroup! The positive was that there was some good football played!​

Another dissapointing game, I signed a new striker on deadline day in Carlitos, a Brazilian who has bags of quality, but again today we couldn't finish our chances, I thought we'd lost it but we managed to get a goal late on. A lot of work needs doing.​

We got our first win in the league in style. New lad Carlitos opened the scoring with a lovely finish. From then on we just looked like we were going to dominate the match. We've been so poor defensively though so I have work to do. The other two goals you cant see on the SS were from Wilshire and Sanchez, brilliant match for us!​

What a win! I was expecting a huge struggle today as Juventus have dominated Italian football since 2009. We were all over them today and took our chances, we've rifled up the table with our last few wins, my ideas are starting to sink in.​

August & September Review​

We started the month badly in the league, with a loss to Cagliari at home. Our second game didn't look too much better as we were lucky to escape with a draw, but since then my tactics must be starting to click because we've had 3 dominant performances against Genoa, Lazio and Juventus. I'm still working out my best XI at the moment. Here's the league table.

We've climbed into 3rd place which is a position we would be extremely happy to find ourselves after 33 more games. We're only 2 points off top of the league, its early days to analyse much but it looks good! Here's next months games:

3 away games and a home game against Cesena, hopefully we can push our recently found form on and win all four, which would see us climb the table even higher. Realistically I'm looking for at least 7 points.​
 
I have been a silent reader for a long time, you inspired me to register! It goes without saying, great work thus far! Any chance of an SS of Carlitos?

I normally find the early seasons are the most tricky, from reading your story for several months I'm sure you'd agree? It's not until the regens start coming and clubs start underperforming that the better players become available for cheaper, which makes strengthening squads easier! Which isn't good for me because I could never go as many years into a save as you have before starting a new one! How many seasons in are you now?
 
Loving it still Jamie. Great work with those signings, should hold you well for at least a season or 2 :)

Yeah I can see that, I don;t think it;s all about the signings, it's about your ideas too! You sort of adapt to certain ways of playing when you take defeats, and know you need to change something around. This is now my 7th season!

Thanks mate, yeah hopefully we can get a top 8 finish this year, and then next season push on for Champions League! The way we've played in the last few games it could be this year!
