A very comfortable win today which starts to see us picking up some form. We got off to a flying start as Ward-Browse scored a rare goal. We wen't into half time 1-0 and to be fair we could have been 4 or 5 up then. We grabbed an early goal in the second half thanks to Depay. Declan Rudd put the ball in his own net and that settled the game but Depay wanted to score another screamer from outside the box. He's getting unplayable now.

October Review

View attachment 239948

Apart from a couple of results I'm pretty happy with this month. The late draw against Porto really hurt but the huge win against PSG almost makes up for it. Let's hope that Porto can stop PSG next month

We've moved up to third in the league which again is brilliant progress considering we were avoiding relegation last season. I don't think we will top Arsenal but I'm starting to believe we may get a top four finish.

Next month is a busy one, the only thing on my mind is that game against Olympiakos right now.

Doing excellent here mate, just glad it's not real life as I'm a Toon fan! Hate to see Sunderland doing so well but you are doing a brilliant job for them. Good luck with Spain too.

Post a screenshot of this john lennon kid XD

Will post him now mate,

"Imagine " if he wins the award ha ha !!

Oh dear :P

Thanks mate, yeah it's going really well at the moment! They're in administation on it I don't know what's going on with them. Never seen a team on Football Manager drop down like they have!

Think Spain will be fun!

There were a few nervy moments today! We'd gone 3-0 up thanks to goald from Dybala and 2 lovely strikes from James Ward-Prowse. We conceded two late on and just about hung in there as Hull hit the post in the last minutes of the game. We've now managed 3 wins in 3 in our last fixtures which is really boosting our morale before the biggest game this season.

10 assists in 16 games is pretty **** impressive!

But yeah, the other seasons were okayish. All those average ratings though...

Yeah good point :P I just remember when Baez got me like 33 in a season for Liverpool so I have a high standard!

He must be amazing to watch, I wan't to play Monaco now!

I had my first real meeting with Nihat Aydin since he'd told me about the changes he was planning, and whether I would be one of them. He was a businessman, but not a footballing one. It's one of the worst parts of the game when a chairman want's to make money and nothing else. I was worried, and we're 3 days away from the biggest game of our season so far.

"Jamie, sit down please."

I sat down and by the look of his face I was expecting the worst.

"The job is yours, you can keep it. I'm getting a lot of messages off people saying they wan't you, I'm hearing good things. You may not think I know about soccer but I do. I know a lot"

I tried not to laugh, I'm over the moon that I have my job. But you can't call football, soccer. You just can't.

"Thanks boss. How about transfers? Can we make them again?"

"Yes you can, I'm giving you no extra funds though, you have spent a lot. But whatever the price you sell a player you can use the full amount on who you buy. I'm trusting you on this."

Seemed like a fair deal. I'd spend £100 million this year and I wasn't expecting more. I still had £32 million in the transfer fund. I had a few people in mind who I wanted to ship and I'd decided I needed a new goalkeeper. Mignolet and Ruffier both weren't cutting it.

Now it's time to tell the lads the good news!

I can't hold his career back anymore. Daniel Sturridge will join Southampton on the 1st January. He's been a great servant for me over the years and a great friend. I hope that he does well at Southampton and finishes his career off with a few more goals. When he retires I will be looking to take him on as a coach. If he want's to!

This is the big day. Can we get into the last 16 of this wonderful competition? In order to do so we would need to win and we would need Porto to prevent PSG from winning their match. The odds are against us but this competition can bring anything to the table.

It's in! Memphis Depay heads home a lovely cross from Kyle Walker to put us 1-0 up. What a start!

View attachment 239715
As it stands we are going through to the last 16. There is still a lot of football to be played though. Let's hope Porto can hold on!

After 32 minutes we are still 1-0 up against Olympiakos, but Bernard has scored for PSG.

View attachment 239713
Meaning the group has flipped. PSG are now top of the league and we drop down to third. We are praying for a Porto goal right now.

View attachment 239712
They've done it! now only 30 minutes left to hold on! Dybala has put us 2-0 up too.

We're now back to second! I'm pausing the game and writing the updates by the way so I have no idea what's going to happen but my nails are getting shorter!

Noooooooooo!!!

The final group standings. This had really gotten me down as I thought for a second we were going to do it. The lads and the fans were completely distraught.

I read the very start of your story, and now these last few updates, and I found it quite moving that you jokingly mentioned wanting to loan Sturridge from Rodgers in the first couple of updates or so and he ending up being one of your favourites...

The characters that FM can create, eh?

We stretch to 4 wins in the row in the league which is brilliant. This season we've had up and down spells and have been struggling to find form. Roberts opened the scoring today and then it was Depay and Calhanoglu with brilliant goals to win the game. I'm starting to see a lot more from Ward-Prowse but a lot less form Loftus-Cheek. Arsenal are rumoured to be making a £35 million bid for him so I hope that's not distracting him.

Haha wow I completely forgot about that! It's hard to actually let some players go when you've done so well with them! You actually get attached haha!

Bad luck in the CL mate, not out of Europe yet though? Should have Europa football now.
