Just how fair is Michel Platini's financial fair-play ruling?

Portsmouth at this moment is a stable football club, so your saying you would trade the 5 Wembley appearences and the European tour to be a bottom/mid table team in the PL?

IIRC they don't even have 11 players on the books never mind 25, constantly looking over the shoulder at bankruptcy, but they're stable?

Read the past 2 pages. Look further past a few seasons and you'll see it's better for smaller clubs too. ^.^
I can understand how it will help out the small clubs because it just makes everything so much fairer at that level.
Which I can understand is brilliant for the game and will only help it out.

The issue I can see is clubs who are on the edge of being top level or teams pushing for top 6. They're basically screwed, never really going to have the financial might that the teams above them have. Take Man City, the money they had come in is what most of those teams on the edge need to be able to get up to the level of the top 5/6 teams.

We shall see though, would be nice if it worked out how people want it to.

You think we are stable at the moment? You are on a different planet to me, then.

I would trade those 5 Wembley appearences and that European Tour (Pointless and extremely costly) for a stable mid-table club, yes.

Football is a totally different game now days and you have to spend to keep things fresh and different.

Indeed, you can spend in wonderful, sustainable things like larger stadiums, youth academies, youth players.

It's unfair to not bring in rules that are ultimately better in the long term to protect teams who have a chance of breaking in.

They only have 15 players. I fail to see how that is a 'stable football club'.

Football to me is about the moments you will remember for your whole life and maybe thats why we dis-agree.

Well they have managed to sign 2 players within the last 2weeks so i would say thats stable.

Maybe but spending on that could effect a club too nah??

Have a nice loan debt destroying your clubs overall balance sheet for a few years ;)

Yes, it allows them to grow sustainably in the long run so that they can begin to compete permanently higher up the league.

No, that's a club which is desperately trying to get enough subs to play football, never mind do it stably.

No-one knows what will happen, will have to wait and see.
Indeed, hope it works out in the long run.
Will need to give it a few years before we can start to see what it's doing though.

But what if the owner walks out after the club forks out 400mill on a new stadium and 150mill on a new training complex?? Just because these rules are in place does not mean teams may not face liquidation/admin.

Sure it is. But I don't want everybody to remember the bad things about my club, which they will. Do you not see what I'm saying here?

You do realise who we signed don't you?

Norris, who was "Free" and Jason Pearce who had a 50% sell on clause in his contract from us. Rendering him pretty much "Free". We are not stable. Look at our 25 man Squad: Portsmouth Football Club | Squad | First Team Or lack of.

Search Portsmouth Fc in Google, after the forums etc you will find numerous things about us in administration etc rather than us winning the FA cup.

A club dosent/shouldnt buy players with money if they arnt stable and Pompey did that last week. The club has started making money, yes they still abit away but they are stable.

Like i said maybe thats were we are different, i remember Pompey winning the FA Cup and the epic game against AC Milan. Yes both players cost next to nothing but you still wouldnt have signed anyone if you couldnt.

No, you don't understand. They cannot play football properly if they don't buy players. If they can't play football, they're not a club at ALL.

Anyway i am off to bed as this labour malarky can happen anytime apparently so i best get as much sleep as i can. Its obvious we wont agree and maybe/doubt it in 10-20 years time i/we will come back on here and see who is correct.

But they can play football, worst comes to worst a team has a U18s and reserve team etc. Whether they chose to pick them is a different argument all together.

Yes, but we can on Free's simple because the Wages have been significantly reduced. With the exit of Utaka, Ben Haim, Etc that has freed up a lot of Wages. Add to that the fact we NEED to add players to the squad to be able to PLAY next year. We are in a total mess.
