RESULTS:

View attachment 265392

We begin life in Liga Adelante with two wins and a loss from our opening three games. A late Ager Aketxe penalty was enough to give us our first win against Mirandes, then we were involved in a seven goal thriller, where we came from behind twice to earn the three points. We weren't able to continue our winning streak as we lost by a single goal to Elche, even though we were the better team.

LEAGUE TABLE:

Though it's early days we are currently 7th and just outside the play off places.

INJURY NEWS:

View attachment 265385

Something that I was hoping we'd steer clear of was picking up injuries to our key players. Unfortunately Joselu is out for six weeks after picking up a hernia.

TRANSFER NEWS:

View attachment 265381

With our finances looking slightly better, I made the big call to sell Pau Franch, who was our leading goal scorer last season. Lugo offered us 475k, and I felt it was too good an offer to turn down.

View attachment 265379View attachment 265378

With the money from the sale of Pau Franch, the board gave me a little of it to spend on bringing in a replacement. Pablo Caballero was recommended to us by his agent and after scouting him, I feel he'll be a good player for us and hope his experience will help our younger players.

With Pablo joining on a free transfer, I still had nearly 200k available to help strengthen our squad. After searching both Barcelona and Real Madrid's 'B' teams, a player stood out who I feel has the potential to become a very good player. Jack Harper who has been at Madrid, playing in the youth sides and most recently Castilla, has become my first permanent signing, joining for 200k. I have high hopes that Jack will develop into a key player and with first team exposure guaranteed with us, I'm sure he'll prove some of the media doubters wrong.

You know loads about Spanish football, am I right in guessing you are from Spain?

Yep, I'm from Spain. ^^

After taking a look at the league table things are gonna get harder than I anticipated... Deportivo, Granada (odd seeing them relegated in FM since in my saves they usually fight to enter Champions League), Osasuna, Las Palmas, Elche, Zaragoza, Sporting... Thank goodness that both Betis and Valladolid seem to have promoted.

You seem to have moved quite well in the transfer window, although Franch's place will be quite difficult to replace (let's see how Caballero and Harper adapt to the team and hopefully can make La Hoya fans forget about him).
Quite a good start so far, with two wins (Santo Domingo is quite the impregnable fortress (kind like Ipurua) and you managed to win there) and managed to put up a good fight against one of the league's titans: Elche.

I'll drop by once the season has reached its half point to see how things are going, but for the time being are looking good.

.P.S.: How the heck did Lugo get so much money to spend on Franch? (It might look like small change but for a Liga Adelante's squad is actually quite the sum).

Just read through this, Brilliant first season and hopefully good things to come this season!

Ok cool, what team do you follow?

Yes I think that it's going to be a tough season ahead, especially with the teams that are in the league as you said, but you never know, we could surprise some of them!

I hope I've made the right choice selling Pau Franch and was thinking Caballero will do a job this season, allowing Jack Harper to develop under his mentoring and numerous games, before becoming a regular in the starting eleven.

It surprised me too how Lugo managed to spend a big sum of money on Franch, will have a look when I'm next on the game and see if they've sold anyone of note.

Thanks mate, hope I impress with the next update. :D

Cheers mate, appreciate it. Yeah I'm hoping we can hold our own this season, will be tough, but it's what I'm really enjoying about the save. Yes I'm playing in a top nation, but to build a small club and attempt to get them to challenge the big boys definitely is very exciting.

RESULTS:

View attachment 263470

What an impressive start to the month, with a brilliant win over Osasuna and it could've been more, as Ager Aketxe missed a penalty, but the pleasing note for me was Jack Harper scoring his first goal for us. We then got through to the Copa Del Rey third round following a nice win over Alcorcon in extra time. Our winning run continued as we beat Sporting at home, before losing to Las Palmas due to an unfortunate own goal by Raul Moreno. The month ended with a draw against C.E Sabadell, as we conceded late in the game.

SQUAD STATS:

View attachment 263450

Jack Harper has impressed early in his career with us, scoring 3 in 5 games. The player that keeps impressing is Nico, who is continuing his form from last season and that's despite being played out of position due to Joselu's injury.
Thankfully we are close to having a fully fit squad, which will be a big lift for us and hopefully we can keep everyone reasonably fit for a good couple of months, as we are struggling with any sort of depth at the moment.

LEAGUE TABLE:

View attachment 263446

To be sat in 5th place is a fantastic achievement and though we have a long way to go in the season, we will enjoy being in and around some of the leagues big boys. With players coming back to full fitness, I hope we can put out a consistent back line, so we can aim to stop conceding the amount of goals we have been.

OTHER NEWS:

Now that our finances are looking a little more healthier, the board have finally allowed me to continue my development, as I start my Continental C licence.

Ok cool, what team do you follow?

Real Betis ^^

Pretty positive month, the team has managed to get two really important wins against Sporting de Gijón and Osasuna and put quite a fight against Las Palmas, besides it's still hanging on promotion spots... It seems that you're adapting well to Liga Adelante but it's still early to say for sure (for now just focus on racking up as many points as possible).

Good win in Copa del Rey, it's the second time you succesfully assault Santo Domingo.

Keep up the good work ^^

Cool, I've always liked Real Betis. Do you go to see them?

Completely agree with focusing on trying to get as many points as possible. Literally taking it month by month. Hoping to get a good Copa Del Rey run going too.

We need a new GK and feel we can't rely on Jack Harper too much, so a new striker is also on the shopping list for January. Of course it'll all depend on how much money will be made available to us. :)

OCTOBER 2015:

View attachment 263245

RESULTS:

View attachment 263241

This is probably my worst month since my appointment, as we only pick up 1 win in 5 games. It's been a big learning curve with losses against Barcelona 'B' and Granada in the league, and we crashed out of the Copa Del Rey to Tenerife. It's shown that we are really lacking in depth and don't have that bit of quality that other teams posses. Having said that, we have been in games for large spells and have only narrowly lost when we been beaten.

SQUAD STATS:

View attachment 263235

We finally have got players back from injury and for the first time since the opening games of the season, I can look to play what I believe is my strongest starting eleven. During the next month we'll need to stop our run of defeats and begin to pick up points, which may see me change formation to our 4411.

LEAGUE TABLE:

View attachment 263234

We are just outside the playoffs despite our recent run of defeats, so all isn't too bad.

NOVEMBER 2015:

View attachment 263017

RESULTS:

View attachment 263016

We finally end our losing streak, as we earn a brilliant win over Numancia. It didn't last long as we faced a Castilla side that included Arbeloa and Casemiro, along with some of their hot prospects and we were well and truly beaten. Credit to the lads though, as we bounced back with a superb draw against Deportivo, before beating Albacete through goals from Jack Harper and on loan defender Alberto. The month ended with a disappointing draw against Tenerife who are languishing in the relegation zone.

SQUAD STATS:

View attachment 263006

I decided to use my 4411 formation for some of our games this month and the squad have responded very well andproduced some good performances. most notably Jack Harper who is finally starting to show some of his potential, scoring 6 in 14 games. Veteran goalkeeper Raul Moreno is the in form player, not surprisingly though, as we've been put under enormous pressure by our opposition attack.

LEAGUE TABLE:

View attachment 263003

We've managed to move up into the play off places sitting 5th. Our goal difference isn't in great shape, but I'm more interested in collecting as many points as possible each month and we have three games coming up where I'm looking to earn seven points out of nine.

OTHER NEWS:

View attachment 263002View attachment 263001

I've managed to secure the signing of two players who will join us in January. Both players were transfer listed and their clubs were looking for a fee, but somehow I managed to pick up both players for nothing!

Agostinho Ca - I needed to strengthen our midfield and Agostinho will give us that extra bit of defensive cover we need in games. And with Iker Underbarrena only on loan, he'll provide some good competition too.

Iker Guarrotxena - With Joselu picking up injuires, we needed someone ready to come in and compete straight away and Iker is definitely the person to do it. I also feel, he'll become my first choice as soon as he is used to how we play.

DECEMBER 2015:

View attachment 262747

RESULTS:

View attachment 262746

I was looking for a minimum of seven points from our three games we had in December and we managed a measly three, drawing all our games against sides I felt we could beat. Jack Harper continued his good run of goal scoring form as he scored our only goal in the league games and also grabbed one in our friendly win over Almeria 'B'.

SQUAD STATS:

View attachment 262745

As we reach the half way point of the season, I'm very pleased with the consistent levels of performance my squad have been showing game by game. But with the January transfer window opening, and with two new signings to be added, I feel we still need more quality throughout the team. For us to continue our development, I may have to think about sacrificing one or two players who've done well for me, with the view to bring in the type of players we'll need if we are to progress and improve season by season.

LEAGUE TABLE:

View attachment 262744

With Barcelona 'B' sat at the top of the table, we are just still in the play off positions, as they will be unable to gain promotion due to the first team playing in Liga BBVA and extremely unlikely to ever be relegated. As we've reached the mid-way point of the season, I can look back with pride how the squad have performed in the first half of the season, but realistically I know it will take a huge effort if we are to end the season in the play off mix.

FINANCES:

View attachment 262740

The finances are looking so much more healthier and with small amounts of income being added weekly through TV revenue, hopefully it will continue to improve and we can look to increase our transfer and wage budgets, plus in the medium to long term begin to assess the options of improving the our youth facilities.

We're at halfway point (well technically speaking we're two matches away from that but oh well), and things are looking surprisingly well so far.
Despite going through both a winning and scoring drought, they keep hanging on promotion spots.

And once again, it's shame about Copa del Rey... You were just one round away of playing against the big guys... oh well, you always have next year for that I guess.

Keep up the good work and start searching for strikers... Pau Franch left a hole too big to fill with what you have so far...

.P.S.:
Cool, I've always liked Real Betis. Do you go to see them?

Glad to hear that. ^^
Sadly I can't... I live in Barcelona (Benito Villlamarín is like 996 km/618 miles from where I live) and even more sadly I missed the two chances I had to see them this year... When they came to Sabadell they sold out all the tickets before I could do anything (Betis' social mass is just astounding...) and when they came to play against Barça B I just happened to be out of town... x_X

Next year I'll hopefully be able to make it when they come to play against Barça and Espanyol.

Yeah we have done brilliantly so far, especially as we still are in and around the play offs, but I need a regular, more experienced striker to help Jack Harper. I was hoping to get through to at least the 4th round of the Copa Del Rey, in the hope I'd be able to get a much better transfer budget, but as it is it stands at 100k and no one of any quality is available currently.

Ah that's a shame, hopefully you'll be able to see them next season. :)

JANUARY 2016:

View attachment 262589

RESULTS:

View attachment 262588

A much better month for us, as we remain unbeaten since the turn of the year. With a superb win over Alcorcon where Jack Harper bagged two, we then drew our other remaining games. One of the draws were against the in form Elche, with Harper again bagging a brace.

SQUAD STATS:

View attachment 262587

Jack Harper continues to be our goal scoring threat, which you'd expect from him playing up top on his own, but I'm expecting more goals from both wide men and also my advanced midfielder. Agostinho Ca has made a good start to his career playing alongside Iker Underbarrena.

INJURY NEWS:

View attachment 262585

We were dealt a big blow when new signing Iker Guarrotxena picked up an injury on his debut. The sprained ankle he got against Zaragoza saw him out for the remainder of the month.

TRANSFER NEWS:

View attachment 262584

I was hoping Pablo would've been a great tutor for Jack Harper, but once their relationship broke down, he became unhappy and with Harper being in superb form I decided to cash in on him.

View attachment 262583

With the departure of Pablo Caballero, I needed a back up striker and with time running out on transfer deadline day, I brought Juan Esnaider in on loan. With small wages and reasonable stats, he'll be a good understudy for Jack Harper.

LEAGUE TABLE:

View attachment 262582

No real movement for us this month in the table, but with a game in hand to come, a win would see us move into the play off places once more. And with both Castilla and Barcelona 'B' above us, the play off places go down to 8th position.

Is a good thing that you're planning to invest in infrastructure. Also, the budget is more healthy, congrats!
Visit my NK Maribor thread.

Yeah I'm hoping to invest in my facilities, but need more money before I can think of that.

Will check it out mate. :)

FEBRUARY 2016:

RESULTS:

View attachment 262549

Another much improved month as we pick up two wins and a draw. A very impressive win against Osasuna, with both wide men getting on the score sheet. We threw away the lead against Sporting twice and were then unfortunate not to get something against Las Palmas. Jason carried on his fine form in front of goal with the winner against Leganes to end the month with a nice three points.

SQUAD STATS:

View attachment 262548

With the new signings settling in nicely, the squad is starting to gel more, which is seeing a big improvement in our performances, especially with us having more strength in depth.

LEAGUE TABLE:

View attachment 262541

We're still in with a shout of being involved in the play offs at the end of the season. Elche and Barcelona 'B' are running away in the promotion spots, but there's about nine teams fighting for the three play off places.

OTHER NEWS:

Our planned stadium expansion has been complete and we finally move back into Francisco Artes Carrasco.

Sensational progress mate! Stadium upgrade, on course for the playoffs! Remarkable, keep it up!

Thanks mate. Delighted with what we've done in a short time, but think the play offs will be a step too far, though of course I wouldn't turn it down.

Appreciate the support. :D

MARCH 2016:

RESULTS:

View attachment 261360

Our best month for a while, with 2 wins, a draw and a respectable loss against Barcelona 'B'. Jack Harper had a very good month scoring 3 in 4 games and Iker Guarrotxena is beginning to show his talent, as he helped himself to his first goals for the club.

SQUAD STATS:

View attachment 261351

YOUTH INTAKE:

View attachment 261350

Another poor intake!! Hopefully in the next 2-3 years we will be able to produce some home grown talent.

LEAGUE TABLE:

View attachment 261349

I'm beginning to believe maybe we can challenge for an automatic promotion spot, or at worse be involved in the play off mix. With Barcelona 'B' unable to play in the top division, we are eight points off 2nd and six points off 3rd, which are currently the two positions that will earn promotion to Liga BBVA.

INJURY NEWS:

View attachment 261347

Lato -
My first choice left back and our loan signing from Valencia, has been ruled out for 4 months with a hip injury.

OTHER NEWS:

Alex Pritchard has signed a pre-contract agreement with us and will join at the end of the season from Spurs.

View attachment 261345View attachment 261344

My good work hasn't been going un-noticed, with job offers from Kilmarnock and Preston North End coming in this month. They were both immediately rejected, as the aim is to take La Hoya to the top of Spanish football.
