Laldy Counter and Control Tactics

You'd be surprised. The counter tactics in particular are very attack minded going forward.

It's more that the team and players I have are full of advanced forwards/wingers, instead of right/left midfielders. It's my problem, nothing with your tactics :)

thanks. what about red card?

I didn't get many reds in testing. When I did I lost the CM Box to box midfielder. Hope that helps.

I also start off most matches on the High tactic. Then see how it goes. For underdogs high counter, for evens/favs, high control.

In the opening post dude.

Okay, there is none?

I recommend starting off with the Counter High or Control High tactic as a default. Watch the game, and if the opposition's defence is sitting deep then switch to the Counter High or Control High tactic as suits.

Which one you start with? Thanks!

I'll knock up an attacking version with wingers and forwards in the next few days. Just have my son's birthday tomorrow, xmas and boxing day, then writing and filming next week. So tried my **** off to get this done for last weekend. Without RT Herringbone and Cleon's articles i'd never have managed it.

Mate take some time off and enjoy your sons birthday and Christmas ;)

Cheers for all your hard work Chrissy. Top quality. Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year! ^^)

Would a managers profile also help the decision to play a high or deep line?

AI wil change tactic from time to time, may be we can use high version 1st.Then see how it going,if no action no highlight screen at all, change to deep version.

Read the two articles by Cleon. You'll be able to make your own tactics thereafter. Trust me, you'll thank me for it.

40 years old, been playing since cm, the very first one at the very beginning. I have read the articles you reffer to at least 10 times and despite all of that have never made a good tactic in FM 14, 15 or 16. I had a great one I made back in 12 and 13 but it obviously stopped working. It is not up for judgement really but I prefer to rely on the good plug and play tactics of others. I appreciate your effort, by no means am I upset, I get that the game changes and you are making an effort to help others out. I am also quite aware that plug and play is going to way of the dodo in FM. Most tactiocs right now are 1 striker, which is a shame and the few with 2 have a F9 or CF in it and cannot be used by lower teams. Then there are the abundance of 3 striker formations which just makes my head hurt lol.

You made a great tactic before and I am certain this new one would be excellent too but I will be waiting for something with 2 strikers and at least 1 DM in the future.

I don't get how you can't make a tactic yourself dude. I will give you some xmas cheer and make an attacking two striker tactic in the coming days. The formation of these tactics is not a big deal to be honest.

That is perhaps a good way of doing it if you don't want to watch the matches in alot of detail.

Ok in answer to a couple of PMs and questions on this thread, i'll explain why these tactics use one striker.

Tell me how many sides, top sides, use two strikers? It's a dying concept, just as three strikers was before it. If any of you have read Jonathan Wilson's "Inverting the pyramid" you'll get what I mean.

I could create two striker tactics but the rub is that they will concede more and not play the flowing football that comes from the counter and control tactics as they will be swamped in midfield and will not work well with underdog teams.

Now i'm not saying it isn't possible to create a successful 2 striker tactic, i'm just saying that with losing a man in midfield or defence there is a trade off. Many folk complain on here about "tactics leaking too many goals" despite winning. I have tried to aim for a balance. Winning games, conceding little and playing effective and easy to watch football within the match engine.

I will create a two striker tactic in the coming days/weeks but my aim just now is to create a strikerless tactic as part of a challenge I have been meaning to try.

On the plus side, these tactics on here should be patch proof. They rely on no exploits etc.

This is the future of FM tactics download section; tactical sets. True plug and play tactics are really difficult to achieve, borderline impossible. Last year the corner routine saved most of the tactics here. This year even TFF can't make one good tactic which works for everyone.

That said, I think you should explain in more details which tactic to use and when. Most people are used to switching between more attacking and more defensive tactic, but this time we have two versions of both. For example, if you see you're getting overwhelmed with a control tactic, you need to switch to counter, but which one? How to determine that?
That's just an example. A more in-depth analysis on how to use the tactical sets would go a long way. :)

shirajzl, you determine which tactic to switch to based on the d-line. If you are getting overwhelmed with the control tactic and can't get the ball to your forward then it's the counter - high. If the other team is sitting deep but controlling, then it's the counter deep.

If I go into every single scenario this will become a 10,000 word essay, not a tactical upload. I am assuming folk will watch the games and apply common sense after reading the OP.

I am perhaps assuming too much.

Plug and play tactics are gone. As someone that was a big supporter of the method, it only works with the "big clubs". To be honest you could use most tactics with the big clubs and win. I'd agree with you on the corner set up etc as well.

This forum is going to have to change it's outlook, as will it's users. The days of just throwing in a diablo are gone.
