Lazio - Building a Roman Empire.

Alright guys, so im going to be starting a Lazio story as i've been a fan of them for some years. Not to mention i feel as though it could prove a reasonable challenge to put them on the top of Europe! I will post my aims for the next three seasons below.

Season One: Qualify for Europe
Season Two: Champions League qualification
Season Three:Challenge for title.

Guys, please provide feedback and constructive criticism and feel free to comment some good players for the future. Help is always appreciated! Also i'm in the Army so some days i may not be able to play the game and/or post somedays.

I'll be playing with romian's 3-7-0. Very solide formation and one which allows fabulous football.

Overall a pretty solid pre-season all in all we played 15 games and won 9 only losing 2. Notably beating Chelsea away from home.

So not a hugely busy transfer window as you can see i sold Candreva and Klose on a free to Monaco.

My first purchase was Nicusor Stanciu for ?5.5Million from Steau Bucharest. Has fantastic potential and should be an ample replacement for the outgoing Andrea Candreva. I hope he can lead the line for many years!

My next signing was the young Scottish CB Grant Hanley from Blackburn for ?5.25M. Will be a great player in a season or two!

My biggest buy was the DM from Chivas, Jorge Enriquez who cost ?9M! I'm hoping he can be the spine of the midfield and be our star player for the seasons ahead!

So we begin our season after a somewhat successfull pre-season, here's hoping for a season of joy!

So as you can see if was to just update August it would of consisted of just two games and been a very boring read. In my opinion a pretty poor start to the season only managing to win 2 of our first 4 games. The big one being an away win against Inter.

Our first game of the season was the Super Cup final against Juve. We lost 2-1 in an evenly contested game thanks to our lack of defending set-pieces! A pattern you will continue to see.

Our first match of the domestic season was a pretty boring 1-0 win over Chievo. The winner came through a fantastic finish from our LWB, Senad Lulic. A man i hope can be a key player this season.

This game was another example of how badly you are defensively when your tactic isn't fluid. The Brazilian Maicosuel ripped my centre-backs a new backside as he jinked in between 2 of them before placing a shot past Marchetti. I wasn't impressed. To make matters worse we got back into the game and it felt like we were well on top before Sampdoria countered at pace, got a penalty and scored. At this point i was furious, we didn't deserve to lose let alone be losing 2-0! We battered them in the second half but could only pull one back through the talismanic Ledesma.

This game was a suprise to me. It proved to me that my players on their day can outplay the best in Italy and split teams with ease. The 1-0 scoreline does not reflect the game at all! We had plenty of ccc's throughout but it took until the last minute for our young Romanian to score his first goal in sky blue and seal a very deserved 3 points!

Our first game in Europe was a tough one. Things started terribly when they went 1-0 after a minute but we pulled ourselves together and with a bit of Brazilian magic we won. Ederson stepped up in the absence of Stanciu and asked the question "should i not be the main man?" We scored twice more in the second half in what in truth was a comfortable win. 3 points in the bag.

My plan for this game was to get a draw by frustrating Juventus, but that didn't work as after only two minutes they scored from a corner, Pogba heading past Marchetti who must be sick of the sight of teams in his box. Instead of sticking to the counter attacking strategy i decided to just go for it and fight fire with fire, and thus in the 12th minute our rwb Cavanda decided he would go for glory as he unleashed a quite ridiculous cross come shot that flew past Buffon and into the net. After this the game was end to end, Juventus pummelled Marchetti time and time again and we flew up the pitch in the hope of catching them off their guard. Sadly it never worked but we came away with a very solid point!

This game was the typical one for me, Bologna sat back and let us hit them time and time again, we managed to score one but could not get another. Then as usual in the 45th minute from a.. yes you guessed it CORNER! We conceded again! This save is proving to be infuriating. We couldnt add a second goal to the game and ended up getting another point.

Our final game of September was a home game against Atalanta. Now this is the epitome of my story so far! We destroyed them throughout the game and took the lead through our young jedi, Stanciu. A finish beyond his years! Then in the 24th minute Atalanta got a corner and well you know the rest. To make matters worse they had only amassed 2 shots in the whole game up until the 70th minute when they won a penalty for nothing and scored. Overload was used to no avail afterwards. Another terribly frustrating game!

10th in the league after 6 games in my opinion is not good enough! The 2 losses we have had were unlucky but the fact that we took 4 points against two teams in the top 4 is reassuring! I'm hoping we can cut out conceding silly set-pieces and start winning games!

Luis Cavanda is my player of the month, time and time again he has burst down the right giving plenty of support and providing fantastic crosses as well as defending well. In a poor month this man has shone!​

A pretty busy month in truth with some big games including 2 derby's at the end of the month! Not a very good month in terms of the league but in Europe we are doing quite well!

A very good performance here from the boys, i didn't think we would win let alone win comfortably. A solid 3 points for the group!

Stats wise this game was even, same shots, same amount of chances but a difference in end product not to mention the suicidal decisions by my centre backs! An area i will hope to strengthen in January!

A quite simply ridiculous performance in a positive way. After being smashed by Cagliari this was a shock, Udinese are not a bad team by any means and to beat them so easily was a sign that we can and should be in the top 5!

Our third game in the europa league proved to be a shocker! We went 2-0 up and looked comfortable until ridiculous decision making and bad marking let them pull back 2. We went back in front through the superb Ederson before committing suicide in the last 10 minutes conceding twice from set plays!

This was our first derby match of the season and it was a win! A great way to shut up the opposition manager as he ran his mouth beforehand but as well all know this isn't Lazio's biggest derby! Great performance by Stanciu as he is beginning to show potential!

The big one! The Roman derby between ourselves and Roma proved to be a fantastic affair. Loads of chances but only 3 goals! Of which two were scored in the last 5 minutes! Bitterly disappointed that we conceded in the last minute from a free kick but it was superb stuff from Totti to **** it over the wall into Taddei.

Not a great month again but i hope we can start putting our chances away! 12 points behind first pretty much assures we wont win the league but 5 points off of fourth isn't too bad!

Lucas Biglia continues to impress me with his outstanding passing ability as well as his knack of tackling players, he is a key player for us and one who performed well in a not so good month!​

NOVEMBER 2013

As you can see a pretty solid month overall. Unbeaten and a big win over AC Milan!

Failure to close out a match lets us down again! In my opinion this was 2 points dropped!

Yet again we concede a late goal to drop points! A shoddy performance in truth!

Yet again another draw! We just couldn't finish them off in the end. Felipe Anderson is looking like a top prospect!

What a result! My 18 year old Striker Balde Keita was unplayable! I went with a 3-5-2 in this game and it worked a treat as my other striker, 20 year old Perea netted as well.

Decided to stick with the 3-5-2 for this game and it worked out as well a very comfortable win sees us advance to the next round of the europa league!

So at the end of November we are sitting in 9th place, but the interesting thing is that we are only 6 points off of second places Juventus! Looks like i'm not the only one slipping up!

DECEMBER - What a load of sh*t!

Well what can i say? Just a shocking month really. No words to describe it.

Didn't realise i was playing Torino here because they were buys replicating West Ham and the chief suspect was Ciro "Carroll" Immobile! F*cking long balls!

The only difference between the two teams on the day was the finishing. Seems i am missing Klose a bit more than i thought i would!

Yet again another game we should of won but ended up losing. Not to worry though as we still qualified from the group in second!

93rd minute winner.. tosh. Absolute tosh.

A good solid win to end a quite dreadful festive season. These players better pull their fingers out in the new year otherwise they'll find themselves off!



So that's me halfway through the season and coming up to January which means only one thing reinforcements! If i can i will certainly be strengthening this team. Hopefully i can pick up some experience players on loan.

Good story, Seria A is a good league IMO! Seems to me like you're conceding a lot of goals though which is not the Seria A style. Whether it's your players, formation,style or training I would seriously consider looking at this. Is 3- 5 - 2 leaving you too open? Is it poor players? Are you going too attacking? Another thing you should try is train your team to defend set pieces, doesn't necessilary cut out every goal but should lessen it and also go to set piece creator and check which player is man marking, you could find your small winger is being told to man mark! Anyway one thing to be careful of is don't overload with new players especially in January will lead to even more problems IMO, and speaking from experience playing negative football with Stoke and Celtic in FM I had a really stern defence and my defence wasn't really a top class defence was just set up extremely defensively so perhaps you're system is playing a part in it?

JANUARY 2014 -

So first of all i only signed one player in January and that was steven Naismith on loan from everton im hoping he can fire us up the league and help us reach our goal for the season! Conditions of the loan are that i pay 50% of his wage and a 65k per month fee.

As you can see i changed the tactics up and it has worked inspiring the team to 5 wins in 8 games.

A good solid win, Stanciu was in great form!

Unlucky not to win but a point gained!

Another solid win! Naismith getting his first goal for the club!

Another goal from the new man helps us get another 3 points! Boom!

A fantastic result! Into the semi final of the Italian Cup! Lulic scored and missed a penalty kick!

A disappointing result, i put the blame on Cavanda's lack of discipline!

To end the month we pulled off a great result! Young Keita scores again!

Even after managing to gain a few wins and not drop to many points we only find ourselves in 11th place! 4 points off 6th place!

February 2014

A very busy month with an unbelievable 8 games being played. On a side note we are into the Final of the Italian Cup and also through to the second knock out round of the Europa League!

This on paper is the hardest game in the league and in truth Juve showed why, we ended up only having one shot on target and it was a goal. We didn't deserve anything from this.

First leg of the Semi final and a very successful one! Put us in a very strong position for the second leg!

Another tough game but one which we should of won!

Second leg of the semi, a close game that we should of won.

A shocking result, no words to say.

A great result! Should of scored a few more in truth.

A fatastic result!! We avenge our drubbing off Cagliari earlier in the season, Naismith is settling in really well.

The first half was shocking, thankfully Keita scored just before half time to spur us on for the second half, we managed to hold on in the end!

As you can see still sitting mid table, we really need to push on as Europe is slipping away fast! Catania are playing stupidly well this season and im hoping they have a collapse in form!​

Yeah mate i've got 3 fluid tactics but it's just picking the right one, i'm going to have to change it at the end of the season as i don't want to have to use that 3-7-0 again!

I'm using a very good tactic, It's a 4-2-3-1 and it's like Dortmund's Gegenpressing. Beautiful football, a lot of CCC's, good ratings, good defence and most of the possession.

March 2014

March has proved to be a great month for us, not losing throughout and keeping our hopes of winning the Europa League alive!

A boring nil nil nothing to add.

Again failure to put the ball in the net is disappointing.

A solid win to pretty much assure us passage into the quarter finals!

An away game to our big rivals Roma proved a tight game, they perhaps deserved the 3 points but we managed to keep them at bay.

A game we dominated and disappointed to concede a two goal lead. We advance to the semis of the Europa League where we drew Spurs!

A solid win two move us up the league.

A fantastic result! Hanley scored a great volley from the edge of the box to give us the 3 points.

A good month sees us move up to 8th in the league, not great but still in with a shout. The fact that we are in the Semi finals of the Europa league and in the final of the Italian Cup i feel as though the season is going well!​

MAY 2014

END OF SEASON


Last Fixtures of the season

Two massive games, our semi final against Valencia in the Europa League and the Cup final against Napoli were the big ones here.

So we managed to blow a 3-1 lead from the first leg mainly thanks to a serious lack of discipline, 2 penalties and a red card. We managed to take it to extra time but Valencia just kept coming! Still very happy with how we performed in Europe!

So the Italian Cup final was a great match to watch personally, we played counter-attacking throughout and Napoli dominated possession. They took an early lead and should of scored more in the first half! We cam out in the second half and went for it, we pulled one back which put it to extra time. Cavanda got sent off for the second game running which put us right in the sh*t! Thankfully we held on only to blow a 4-3 lead on penalties and lose. Absolutely gutted to be honest, really felt we should of won but yet again Cavanda lets the team down!

I couldn't believe we lost this. Absolute joke. Yet another red card, third in as many games.. ridiculous!

In truth we dominated match but our lack of finishing prowess meant we didn't have the edge up front. They took a 3-0 lead we pulled to back but couldn't find a third!

Ridiculous! A 4th red card in 5 games sees us playing with 10 men for 89 minutes! We went behind and managed to turn it round very well we were on top but Catania punished us in the end as Plasil grabbed his second!

So the final league table sees us sit in a terribly lowly 12th. In my opinion we were too poor in games against lowly opposition. Conceding stupid goals and getting far to many bookings and sending offs! I demand at least a Top 8 next season! I know the team is more than capable but i just need to find and settle on tactics.

So these are the final player stats, as you can see Higuain manages an incredible 26 goals to win the golden boot by a mile! De sanctis managed to amass an unbelievable 18 clean sheets, in my opinion a ridiculous feat and our only player represented on the list was young Stanciu managing the second highest key passes with 40 in total.


Aims for next season

• Reach Semi Finals of Italian Cup.
• Finish Top 6
• Have a player in Top 5 Goals and Assists.
