Leeds United - The journey back to the top and beyond...

I used one of Christian Erikesens tatics when at Leeds. One of the older versions than what he has up now, works a treat. If your Budget is low then look out for freebies of Fernando Pacheco for GK (excellent choice until you become a top club and can sign a worldie) Leandro Paredes is a great attacking mid, Micah Richards and Gary Mackay-Steven, all on frees i got these for. Also got Lucas Boye in but hes not been as good as i would of hoped a bit inconsistent.

You lent Tariq and the other one who can't have licence to work in england to what club? and when you know that they can return and play in england? you forgot two excelent players: aranzubia(free transfer) and bernardesci :) but, excelent game!

Humam Tariq went out to Levante but didn't feature much, I managed to secure his work permit in January and recalled him then. Pavel Savitskiy when out to Rayo and played a few games but unfortunately I have just tried again and still I am unable to gain a work permit so it looks like another year on loan. Cheers I will check them out, Thanks for following.

yo, goodluck to ya. Im interested to see how you fare with the big boys in the Pl. I'm just about to go into my 7th season with leeds. In my first two seasons in the PL it was narrow relegation escapes. But overall Its a pretty good challenge. Cause you never get too much money to spend. So its keeps you in for the long haul.

Wow 7th season, how are you doing now? I am hoping I can get a lucky break and get some kind of European football first season, it can be done but I will need a lot of luck! Yeh I know what you mean, this season I was given a 14 Mil transfer budget an I dont really want to sell too many players, going to raid the free transfers for this first season.

Yeh I am trawling through the freebie bin at the moment, I will update my transfers later but I managed to get Sergio Romero in goal on a 40k a year contract which I thought was a solid signing. I am tempted by Richards but his wage demands are way to high, plus I plan to make Byram my long term 1st choice RB and I have my CB positions covered now. I am definitely going to look at bringing Mackay-Steven in though if he is going free. Cheers buddy

Championship Manager of the Year

Before I start giving you my pre-season and transfer update there was one other piece of news from last season I forgot to mention...

Thats right, I managed to receive the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Year award, nice to see my achievements last season were recognised. Any way, enough bragging..

2015 - 2016 Season

Season Targets

Pre Season Results

I was really happy with my friendly results this season, everyone really stepped up and showed me they want to be in my first team come the opening game of the Premiership season, so much so I really don't know who my starting 11 are yet.

Transfers

View attachment 298531
This transfer window has been a very busy one for Leeds United, plenty of players in but not too much money spent as the budget wasn't great. The pick of the transfers has to be Romero in goal, I am also happy to have Cisse on loan and free signings such as Mackay-Steven and Marilungo.
I was really happy with my young English signings as well, having seen Wisdom, Egbo, Rothwell, Ameobi and Blackett now joining the likes of Mowatt, Cook, Byram, Taylor, Vann and Alli to create a really exciting group of English youngsters.

If any one wants to see any screen shots then just let me know, way too many transfers to update them all!

Opening Game

View attachment 298435
So the day we had been waiting for was finally here, although we could have maybe been handed an easier game for our first game back in the big time, nevertheless it gave us an opportunity to make a big impression on the league. This is how we got on..

View attachment 298432
As you can see the result really didn't reflect how well we played, even the shots on target stat doesn't tell you the whole story, we had 2 goals disallowed for offside and Marilungo hit the post twice!

We got off to a terrible start, scoring an own goal and giving away a penalty all within the first 20 mins and from there it was just an up hill struggle. There was plenty of positives to take from this result though and I am certain we can stay in this league. Onwards and upwards..

August Continued..

View attachment 298391
This has to be the worst month in my FM history, I really cannot take any positives from these 4 games what so ever and worst of all, at the moment I am struggling to think of a way to stop this poor vain of form.

View attachment 298388

This was almost a carbon copy of the Tottenham game, sloppy early defending, poor penalty given, we had better possession. really disappointing

View attachment 298389
This was the worst of the lot, I tweaked our formation and we got smashed apart, less shots, worse passing, worse possession and overall absolutely shocking performance. Best chance of a cup run over.

View attachment 298390
Despite our poor run we was pegged as favorites for this game, yet again though we got beaten despite having more of the ball and more shots. Our defence on paper is good enough to handle at least half of the Premier Leagues teams and yet they are performing so poorly at the moment. Much changes need to be made and quickly.

I am not going to pick a player of the month because frankly there is no one that deserves it.

September

My position at the club is already looking bleak and I am suffering a crisis in confidence, I really feel September is a very important month if I am going to keep my job and keep Leeds in the Premier League. Here is how September is going to look..

View attachment 298387
I really would like to try and get 4 points out of this game but we shall see..

Don't worry things will improve :D Maybe you should consider going little more defensive with your formation.

Well I am soon to update September and it still wasn't a great month, appreciate the optimism though :D The scary thing is I have, 5 at the back didnt work and a holding midfielder at Huddersfield didnt work either, for some reason we are making mistakes left, right and centre. I am determined to get there though. Cheers for your support

View attachment 769782Leeds United have today released a statement announcing Matt Bullard as the man to replace current make-shift manager Neil Redfearn.
Redfearn has been used as a temporary manager on as many as four occasions over the past 3 years but it appears his time at the club could be coming to an end with the appointment of 'unproven' manager Bullard.
Trigger-happy owner Massimo Cellino has gone on record to say that he is fully aware of his reputation of sacking managers without giving them a chance but this time things are different, he will give Bullard his full backing and after lengthy discussions, he truly believes he will take the club to heights never experienced before.

As i told in some reply of your post in begun with leeds and i am telling my story...

September

Leeds move out of the relegation zone
Leeds Sign Ibe on loan deal from Liverpool
Still no clean sheet for Leeds

Before we get into this months matches, there was one more piece of business in the transfer market, nothing huge but we signed Jordon Ibe on loan from Liverpool, English right winger with a big future in the game and I am hoping he will add something to the side this season.

Up and down results, was good to finally get our first points on the board but still a very poor month and things will need to change if we have any chance of staying in the top flight.

View attachment 298218
Yet another shocking game, 4 of the 5 goals came from defensive errors, I literally cannot stop teams from scoring in the first 2-3 minutes and yet again this match was no different. To be fair to them Swansea were a different class in this game, or maybe we just made them look good.

View attachment 298216
For once we was actually the better team against Hull, almost all of the highlights were ours, we just didn't finish our chances again. Notably we let in yet another goal in the first 3 minutes, right from the start I set up to contain, with a flat back defensive line and an anchorman to sit in front of them, just for the first 5 minutes to see if it made any difference.. did it ****! positives to take for sure though.

View attachment 298214
Ok, so we have our first points and yes I am slightly relieved, however.. I don't really know what to think of this result as we had a lot less possession, our defence actually played well but Middlesbrough were by far the best team, it is literally the exact polar opposite of every other game this season but we actually won.. Oh well 3 points are finally ours and we move from the foot of the table. One notable change was that I dropped Romero who has now let in a massive 19 in 6 games and gave Speroni a chance, he was pure class.

Out of the Relegation Zone finally but still a long way to go yet.

Leeds Player of the Month

Gary Mackay-Steven

View attachment 298202

Gary actually had a great month, grabbed some goals and assists and in general was one of the few players to offer some relief up top when things weren't going to well for our defence.

Had we not had such a bad start to the season, I would not have been too sad with this month, draws to both Man City and Everton are good results, obviously the loss to Arsenal wasn't great but we did play well.

View attachment 298147
Yet again another early goal conceded, atleast this time we lasted 5 minutes. In truth we thought back valiantly and reacted really well to peg straight back though Mackay-Steven. The game was even and we almost won the game when Tariq hit the post in the 89th minute.

View attachment 298145
Boring game but I liked that, it made a nice change to see us defend well and finally get a clean sheet. We did dominate the game but it also made me realise that it isn't just our defensive errors costing us, our strikers really are struggling to find the net.

View attachment 298143
I wanted to show the stats for this match to demonstrate that we really don't deserve to be in the position we are in, I really feel now that our defence is improving (this game aside) and if we could just start getting a bit more luck and take some of our chances, we could easily get up the table.

View attachment 298141
We was so unlucky not to take the 3 points here, annoyingly it was yet another defensive error late on that allowed Lukaku to equalise, this time it was the captain Jason Pearce who made the mistake. There was still many positive mistakes as we go 3 out of 4 games without a loss this month against some big teams.

We are now over a quarter of the way through the season and we are still really struggling in the danger zone.

Leeds Player of the Month
Humam Tariq

Outstanding month from the young Iraqi playmaker, average rating of 8.7 across the month, 2 MoM awards and a Premiership Young Player of the Month award.

November

Ok, so November was another bad month, for that reason I am not going to go into much detail as it was a short month with nothing too positive to really report on. Here are the results for November..

View attachment 297871
As you can see, some poor results and it really didn't look like we would ever turn things around.. that was until December..

Sorry guys I have yet again let my story slip, I am in mid Feb at the moment, I will update my transfers and results to date shortly. I was still suffering with some bad results but I took some advice on my tactics and my god did it make a difference. we look like a different side now.

We was still very inconsistent up until the Man City game, I took some advice on tactics and it has made a huge difference, finally feel like we can compete in the Premier League, as it shows as we are no unbeaten in 5 games.

As I have said, there is a completely different feel about the team now, you can visibly see the difference in performances and I have no doubt now that we will stay in this league, maybe even continue our FA Cup run to the Final. The optimism is back at Elland Road.

For some reason I though you were going to be managing as Jimmy Bullard :P

You've made some decent signings & as long as you stay up (which I think you will) it shouldn't be considered a bad season.
