December 2009 Preview

Very busy month and is happy that all the squad is fully fit, no transfer news but in january i will be looking for defenders to try and sort out this leaky defence.

Fixtures (Predictions):
[A] Nottm Forest (2-1 L)
[H] Bristol City (3-1 W)
[H] Sheff Wed (4-1 W)
[A] Cardiff (2-2 D)
[H] Sheff Utd (1-0 W)
[A] Doncaster (2-1 W)

ye cheers, will prob just take screenshot for results im in like end of january atm and then i'll be back on track

December/January 2009/2010

January transfer window:
Ross Forbes (Loan, terminated) - failed to make an impact, waste of space in squad.
Zavon Hines (Loan, West Ham) - extra fire power upfront considering that our strikers have gone off form.
Nicky Adams (325K, Derby) - not needed in squad, sold him for abit of transfer money.
Robbie Nelison (550K, Newcastle) - floated in and out of squad Newcastle enquired gave them a price and i sold for some more transfer money.
Arnar Vidarsonn (40K, Brugge) - 31 year old centre mid, i think he is gonna be a key signing.

I tried to sign to more players but the size of squad is too big and taking all the wage budget up, i tried to sell as many people as i could but no clubs were intrested.

Results:
I will attach the screenshot of results from start of December to January, pretty good two months, pick of the lot is the emphatic 5-1 win over Newcastle which means i completed the double over the best team in the league. They beat me 2-0 in cup which doesnt really matter.

Awards:
Jerry Vandem got his 2nd young player of the month award, the right back has been playing brilliantly since his loan move.
Also i got my first award coming 2nd in manager of the month for January.

G.Taylor-Flecther (8)
P.Gallagher (36)
M.Fryatt (47, 68)
Y.Kermorgant (72)
S.Crainey (OG 87)
Man of the match: M.Fryatt 8.7

Great game and now starting to take our chances, 14 goals in 3 games confidence flowing through team.

Leicester overcome stubborn Doncaster

Leicester 3-1 Doncaster
S.Hird (2)
M.Fryatt (25)
Y.Kermorgant (42)
N.Savinaud (Pen 43)
Man of the match: Y.Kermorgant 7.7

Intresting game could of gone either way really, went behind again like we do. Suberb finishing again.

Fryatt's late goal grabs Leicester vital 3 points

Leicester 2-1 Scunthorpe
P.Gallagher (13)
G.Hooper (53)
M.Fryatt (80)
Man of the match: P.Gallagher 7.9

Really even game, 5 win streak i think now and we have moved into the automatic promotion places.

Bristol end Leicesters winning streak

Bristol City 3-1 Leicester
M.Fryatt (40)
D.Clarkson (45, 63)
N.Maynard (60)
Man of match: D.Clarkson 8.2

Shocking performances from a few players cost us the game there, Kermorgant missed 2 simple chances before he was subbed at half time, Paul Gallagher was day dreaming for 2 of their goals didnt want to pass the ball. And im pretty sure the 2nd goal was atleast a yard offside, couldnt believe it.

Leicester leave it very late to grab 3 points

Plymouth 1-2 Leicester
A.Barnes (75)
M.Fryatt (89)
A.Tunchev (90+4)
Man of the match: A.Tunchev 7.9

Pleased with result, another poor performance from Kermorgant, he has just lost his place in side. But managed to get another vital 3 points to keep us in automatic places.

Forest crushes the Foxes

Leicester 2-6 Nottm Forest
D.Blackstock (25, 46)
J.Garner (35, 45+2, 50, 54)
A.King (39)
M.Oakley (S/O 83)
Y.Kermorgant (90)
Man of the match: J.Garner 9.6

What? I love my brilliant defence.

Overview:
Good month until that awful game, now dropped into 3rd. Just what are my defence doing? I have conceded the most goals in top 6, 49 goals 9 more goals than West Brom who have let in 40. Yet i have scored so many goals, 71 which is the most out of top 6. Ive tried to tweak my tactics but just not working.

March 2010

Fixtures (predictions):
[A] Sheff Wed 18th (1-1 D)
[H] Cardiff 17th (1-1 D)
[A] Crystal Palace 16th (2-1 W)
[H] Coventry 15th (2-0 W)
[H] Reading 8th (1-0 L)
[A] Derby 20th (2-1 W)

As you can see, im not very confident after my shocking display at home against Forest. But hope team responds well, will make a few changes and see who i can get in on loan to help my problem at the back.

Transfers:
Mark Little (Loan, Wolves) - Fast defender can play right back or centre back boost for defence. Also in to cover Vandem who is injured at right back at the moment.

Push for that automatic promotion, you deserve it!! that defence needs sorting out though

March 2010

Results:

Wednesday resist Leicester comeback

Sheff Wed 3-2 Leicester
S.McAllister (5)
D.Purse (Pen 12)
F.Jeffers (15)
Y.Kermorgant (25)
P.Gallagher (49)
Man of the match: S.McAllister 8.1

Well what can i say, my team are in trouble now. 3 goals in 15 minutes whats going on? Almost pulled off a comeback team really need to pick themselves up.

Chopra denies Leicester win

Leicester 1-1 Cardiff
M.Fryatt (40)
M.Chopra (90)
Man of the match: R.McCormack 7.1

What happened there my team managed not to let in a goal for 90 minutes? Good performance deserved the win though.

Super sub Fryatt grabs Leicester point

Crystal Palace 1-1 Leicester
S.Derry (14)
M.Fryatt (70)
Man of the match: S.Derry 7.7

Poor performance lucky to grab a point here defence maybe showing signs of improvement?

10 man Leicester takes 3 points against Sky Blues

Leicester 1-0 Coventry
R.Wellens (45, S/O 53)
Man of the match: R.Wellens 7.5

Well worked 3 points and yes a CLEAN SHEET i nearly forgot what one looked like. Anyway i thought it was poor decision to send off Wellens, appealed against the decision.

Rob Hulse grabs only goal to give Derby victory

Derby 1-0 Leicester
R.Hulse (15)
Man of the match: D.Moxey 7.6

Not a bad performance but really should of beaten a poor Derby side my team missed 3 'clear cut chances' somehow. Worrying about our play off places now.

Vital victory for the Foxes

Leicester 3-1 Reading
N.Savinaud (9)
M.Fabre (OG 15)
A.King (12)
Y.Kermorgant (77)
Man of the match: N.Savinaud 7.9

That was a big victory which has put us away from Reading in 7th place, should be safe now with a 10 point gap.

April 2010 Preview

Fixtures (predictions):
[A] West Brom 2nd (2-0 L)
[H] Q.P.R 18th (3-0 W)
[A] Peterbrough 17th (2-1 W)
[H] Watford 14th (2-1 W)
[A] Preston 8th (2-2 D)

So 6 games to go very tight up top end of table. I should seal a play off position in a few games. West Brom is the biggest game if manage to win at West Brom i will move into the automatic position spot by 2 points which could be vital.

April 2010

Results:

West Brom too strong for Leicester

West Brom 2-0 Leicester
R.Bedner (52, 64)
A.Vidarrson (S/O 90+4)
Man of the match: R.Bedner 8.1

West Brom dominated all way through and deserved the win, but again defence holding out well, they are getting better under my new tactics. This result means ive dropped down to 4th.

Leicester earn deserved win

Leicester 2-1 Q.P.R
P.Gallagher (16)
J.Hobbs (22)
M.Rowlands (30)
Man of the match: A.King 7.7

Good response from the West Brom game, we did enough to win the game could of put more in the back of the net but at this stage of season its points that matter.

Leicester can only manage a frustrating point

Peterborough 1-1 Leicester
C.Whelpdale (5)
M.Fryatt (68)
Man of the match: C.Whelpdale 7.7

Peterborough only had 3 shots to my 15 how they got away with a point i do not know, could seal play off spot in next game.

Another post will follow to complete April

April 2010 League ends

Results:

Leicester ease past Watford

Leicester 2-0 Watford
M.Fryatt (27)
A.Vidarsson (80)
Man of the match: A.Tunchev 7.4

This result confirmed us a play off spot, now hopefully one of the teams do us a favour by beating West Brom but they play two struggling teams so its highly unlucky they will slip. It will be tough winning both of my games anyway.

Leicester lose at Deepdale

Preston 3-1 Leicester
F.Zambrella (2)
M.Fryatt (64)
N.Mellor (74)
M.Fryatt (OG 90+3)
Man of the match: F.Zambrella 7.9

My team miss out on a automatic spot, but play offs was my target and i reached that target. Middlesbrough is the final game of the season a win would secure 3rd place.

Leicester edge Middlesbrough to secure 3rd spot

Leicester 1-0 Middlesbrough
P.Gallagher (52)
Man of the match: G.O'Neil 7.5

Didnt deserve the win but my defence held strong. 3rd spot is good enough for me, i will play Sheff Utd in the 2 legs.

May 2010 The Play-offs

Middlesbrough gained the upper hand in their tie by beating Reading 1-0 at the Madejeski, Julio Arca grabbing the late winner there. As for my Leicester team they will travel to Bramall Lane to play Sheff Utd, having beating the foxes twice in their League games, the Blades are strong favouites.

Sheff Utd 1-2 Leicester
17th Min GOAL: Good build up play from the foxes, Wellens and Fryatt plays a few one twos, Fryatt runs out wide to lay it off to right back Little who swings in first time ball on the head of Yann Kermorgant who sticks the ball past a helpless Paddy Kenny.
28th Min: Sheff Utd take quick free kick to Williams who takes a touch then shoots from 20 yards, only to strike the inside of the post. Tunchev boots ball out for a throw in.
42nd Min GOAL: Henderson shot is deflected and falls to the arms of Fabre who lauches his kick upfield Paul Gallagher chases it all way 30 yards from goal Kenny miss controls the ball and Gallagher knicks the ball of him to slot it into an empty net.
53rd Min: Free kick to Leicester inside own half, Tunchev passes short to Wellens who plays to Gallaghers feet who lays it off to King who plays a suberb ball through to Kermorgant who strikes it low, Kenny makes a good save, Corner to Leicester. Paddy Kenny easily claims the corner.
63rd Min GOAL: Nice triangle play down the wing, Williamson swinged the ball in, Fabre came and missed it and Darius Henderson heads home to what could be a precious goal.
82nd Min: Sheff Utd win a corner, Leicester clear easily the ball falls to Mark Little who players a wonder ball to Paul Gallagher who is forced out wide and waits for support, he lays the ball off to Viator who crosses first time to back post where Fryatt heads the ball onto the post, United clear.
FULL TIME: Leicester gain the upper hand in first leg a soild performance, Fabre will be disapointed with his mistake that led to the Blades goal. But a 2-1 victory away is a brilliant result, i think Leicester can go and finish the job infront of a packed Walkers Stadium.

Play-offs semi final 2nd leg

Reading ended up grabbing a 1-0 win at Middlesbrough only for Middlesbrough to win 9-8 on penaltys, Middlesbrough will either play Leicester or Sheff Utd.

Leicester (3)1-1(2) Sheff Utd
4th Min GOAL:
Sheff Utd go back on level terms, there is a big battle of possesion in the middle of the park the ball finally falls to Williamson who runs out to the right and provides the cross on to the head of Evans, the ball rattles the crossbar before it kindly fell to Darius Henderson who scores his 29th goal of the season.
13th Min: Gallagher picks up a Tunchev pass, he turns and plays a good ball to Kermorgant, Fortune sticks a foot in. The ball falls to Fryatt who runs into the box and shoots, it is blocked and falls back to him. As he tries to make space it looked like he was fouled, Referee says no penalty.
35th Min: a Leicester throw in is headed clear by United, the ball falls to Wellens who plays the ball to Kermorgant who slots home, only for the assisant referee's flag to be raised, Yann was clearly offside.
39th Min GOAL: Leicester take the lead again, a free kick just inside United's half is laid off to Wellens, who plays the ball to Kermorgant on the edge of the area. Matty Fryatt makes a lovely run Kermorgant finds him and Fryatt finishes cooly to gain Leicester advantage.
44th Min: Fryatt loses the ball, Fortune picked out Henderson who tries his luck from 35 yards, his shot fizzes past the post.
48th Min: Mark Little heads just wide from a King corner.
60th Min: Ched Evans shots just wide. Hines replaces Gallagher for Leicester.
74th Min: Sheff Utd win a corner, they play it near post where Morgan is completely unmarked he takes a touch and shoots straight at the keeper, the ball is cleared.
FULL TIME: Leicester hold on to make the play off final, where they will face a tough Middlesbrough side.

Play-off Final

Leicester 0-2 Middlesbrough
4th Min:
Fryatt has got the ball 25 yards out he lays it off to Andy King who's curling shot hits the outside of the post.
15th Min GOAL: Middlesbrough win a free kick 25 yards out, Mark Viduka bends it round wall to find top corner, good free kick.
34th Min: Adam Johnson gets the ball on left fools King, Johnson cuts inside and shoots, his dipping shot is tipped over by Fabre. O'Neil swings the ball in back post, Pogatez heads over.
39th Min GOAL: O'Neil beats Berner on the right then crosses a lovely ball across goal where Leroy Lita sticks his foot out and steers the goal in the back of the net, 2-0.
59th Min: Fryatt's shot is deflected and gone out for a corner, King whips the ball in. Middlesbrough half clear it and Savinaud's 25 yard effort goes just over.
80th Min: O'Neil takes a corner on to Viduka who heads just wide, kitchen sink time for Leicester.
FULL TIME: Its all over, Middlesbrough bounce back straight to the Premier League. Heartbreak for Leicester who have done suberbly this season.

End of season analysis

Season Overview:
Been a great season, disapointing that i lost in final. But maybe it was too early to go up to Premiership. I'm gonna sell alot of players that are not used and hopefully the board will back me with a transfer budget to push for promotion again. Jerry Vandam, Zavon Hines and Mark Little will go back to their clubs. I may possibly look into loaning Vandam again as he was solid but will look at other options first.
