I have such a strong opinion on this but really cba. <)

Ronaldo is better in my opinion because he is more complete. Ronaldo has carried every team he's played for and scores 25+ goals a season no matter what.

I don't think the same can be said for Messi. You could put Ronaldo in any team and he'd score 20 goals a season by himself. He creates his own chances as well as other people's chances.

Messi is a team player, but if you put him at a lesser team he wouldn't be as effective as the players around him wouldn't be as good. He needs the players around him to do what they do for him to be effective. In my opinion he wouldn't score 25+ goals a season without the players around him doing what they do and being the best in the world at what they do.

Until Lionel Messi comes to the Premier League and carries a team like Ronaldo did, I will always say that Ronaldo is better than Messi.

Both are out of this world, but Ronaldo a bit more so imo.

Why should Messi have to come to the EPL to prove himself? He has proven he is the best player, in the best team and in the best league in the world. Messi is the star of this generation, I believe he will go on to be up with the likes of Maradona.

Think in the 2010 calendar year Messi scored 58 goals in 53 starts. Unbelievable.

Ronaldo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Messi IMO. Reasons for this is in DMF's post.

Messi plays with a smile on his face, Ronaldo looks a ****. Messi dosen't dive, as much, he bounces off players, Ronaldo goes down and spits his dummy out.

and because your a liverpool fan you still hate him.

Hate him or not it doesn't matter. Yes I think he is a ****, but that doesn't stop me thinking he is an exceptional player. Just Messi >>> Ronaldo.

55 in 52.

He shouldn't, but for me he should to see if he can match Ronaldo's feats. Ronaldo FOR ME is the greatest player in the world and he will also go up with the greats of all time.

Ronaldo has proved everywhere he's been that he is the best at what he does. Messi was brought up with most of the players in the squad and nurtured in from a very young age so knows everything about the club.

Ronaldo moved from Sporting to Manchester United when he was like 17/18, took 3 years to settle and turned into the best player in the world. He then moved to Real Madrid, settled immediately and is still banging in 30 goals a season. He's already got 30 this season.

Messi has been settled his entire career (since he went to Barcelona when he was 12) and hasn't been moved since. Media left him alone and he's turned into a great. But for me, Ronaldo > Messi.

Messi dives. Ronaldo dives. He dives more, but he gets kicked a lot harder too.

Even if he does dive more, imagine how much better he'd be if he stayed on his feet. Just enhances my opinion that Ronaldo > Messi.

so until messi moves clubs, he won't be the best? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.

Buuuuut he dosen't.

Buuuuut he dosen't.

Means nothing. He's still one of if not the best footballers in the world even if he does go down easily.. has nothing to do with his footballing ability does it?

Haven't said that. I've said that for me if/when he goes to the Premier League and matches/betters Ronaldo's achievements, he won't be better than Ronaldo.

Everyone's opinions differ, mine will always be Ronaldo > Messi until he matches Ronaldo's achievements outside of his comfort zone.

I really don't get this argument. So by this logic, Ronaldo >> Pele and Maradona because they haven't played in the prem?

Yes. In football you shouldn't dive, therefore diving reduces football talent,.

Pele carried every team he was in by himself, and scored over 1000 goals.
Maradona carried every team he was in by himself. Won World Cups by himself and won Serie A with Napoli by himself.
Ronaldo won Champions League and Premiership by himself.

Messi won everything with Barcelona, not by himself.

Big difference imo.

For me Messi is better because he is so much more of a team player than Ronaldo is. Also Messi constantly takes games by the scruff of the neck and changes them, eg Arsenal last season and Madrid in the last classico. Ronaldo so often goes missing in the big games.

No it doesn't. It reduces appeal to fans, but doesn't make him a worse football player. He's still the best with the ball at his feet alongside Messi and one of the best strikers of a ball in the world. He also scores usually the most amount of goals a season alongside the top strikers in the world playing from the wing. Diving doesn't make him any worse at playing football, just makes him less liked by fans/pundits, not that he gives a toss.

But Pele only played in Brazil, (USA for a season I remember rightly), that doesn't mean he is any less of a player because he stayed in 1 place for the majority of his career. So he only Carried Santos by himself, Brazil had sackfuls of World class players.

No difference imo.

Absoloute bollocks.

Manchester United won the Premiership and the Champions League with Ronaldo on song.

This point is what comes up so often.

Ronaldo goes missing in big games, yet scored in the Champions League final vs Chelsea, and FA Cup final vs Millwall? Big games I think...

Fair enough the big games for Madrid he's gone missing and Messi has shone, but that's because Barcelona > Real Madrid, not because Messi > Ronaldo.

Real Madrid run through Ronaldo. If he struggles, Madrid struggles. So shutting him down shuts down Madrid's attack. Barcelona's attack isn't just down to Messi, it's down to Pedro, Villa/Eto'o, Xavi, Iniesta, Alves and Busquets. Which is why they are so hard to stop.

Barcelona > Real Madrid - Ronaldo > Messi.

In all fairness to Ronaldo, whenever Real Madrid have played Barcelona since he's been there the majority of the Madrid team have gone missing.
