Isco under pressure
Liverpool fansite Red and White Kop asked Reds supporters their thoughts on new expensive signing Isco. 66% of the fans were not happy with how the youngster has performed so far, putting pressure on the 20 year old. Manager Sam Tobin was disappointed. "Isco's a new signing," he said. "He's from Spain - of course he's going to take time to settle in to Liverpool. A minority of our fanbase has quite a reputation for criticizing players. Look at Lucas. Jordan Henderson. Joe Allen. They've all thrived under the pressure they have been put under. I expect Isco to do the same. It was a bit of a hefty price tag, but I wouldn't have bought him if he wasn't worth it. He's twenty years old for goodness sake!"
Asked if Isco will be dropped, Tobin responded, "We'll pick the players that deserve to be picked. It's down to ability, passion and commitment. I can't tell you our line up for the game against Lazio - we've got to look at the players in training. I'll only pick the players who put in 110% effort. And at the moment, that's hard, because everybody's putting in a great amount of effort, and everybody deserves credit for the run of form we're on at the moment."
Liverpool travel to Lazio in a few days looking for two wins from two in the Europa League group stages.
In other news, Reds pair Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard were both selected in this week's Premier League team of the week.
