Chapter One

The Changing of the Guard

It was a normal day, much like any other... Though I guess that was the point.
I sat in my house, watching Sky Sports coverage of Arsenal vs Man United and
breaking news came in. I'm still struggling to come to terms with the news. I'm
not a Liverpool fan myself but I grew up liking them. Their academe was always
going to win respect from a boy who grew up supporting F.C. Barcelona.

Things are about to get interesting.

I had no idea how much of an understatement that would end up being.

This is going to be epic!! :D

If it's half as entertaining as my FM15 version, I'll be delighted :)

buzzing for this :D

Cheers mate

Most anticipated story of fm16?!?!

Haha, not quite mate. I'd say there was more anticipation about JamieWiliams new story.

Cheers mate :) Glad to have you here.

Brendn is back!

I am indeed :) Come Tuesday I can plow into another story. I do miss these :)

Ooh this seems cool, I'll keep an eye on it.

Plus I'm having a hard time adjusting to FM 2016 (like every other year) so I'll see what you do with your Liverpool save :D

The best Football Manager story is back, yay! :) Really looking forward to this one this year especially with all the buzz and expectations surrounding Liverpool in real life.

The 2014/15 season was one of unfulfilled expectation. A lot was promised
and the city felt the loss with sorrow, despair... and anger. There was an
overwhelming sense of distrust between the fans and the club. They give their
time, faith and passion for 90 minutes every game but the return was a
disjointed effort that felt disingenuous. This feeling of disconnect was
untimely what cost Brendan Rodgers his job.

If you ask 100 Liverpool fans for their opinion on the Northern Irish Manager,
you'd get 100 different opinions; each with their own merit and validity. Very
few Liverpool managers have created such discussion and criticism but If you
asked me why he didn't survive I can sum it up in two words.

"Bill Shankly"

When you get down to the nuts and bolts of it, Brendan Rodgers was
everything Bill Shankly
wasn't. Where Shankly had unbridled charisma
and belief, Rodgers had apprehension and tempered expectation.
Commitment
to the ethics of the city and an unwavering desire to instill
a work ethos; that the club belongs to, and only to the fans. This was
Shankly's legacy, one which Brendan Rodgers did not embrace.

Rogers gave us one of the most exhilarating and enjoyable season's in recent
memory
when he went close to ending the Mersyside club's wait for a 19th English
Title, but his over all vision and execution as Liverpool Manager was, to me, a
reminder of what the club lost when Shankly stepped down: Passion and belief.

No Liverpool fan should ever have to be made dream! The city has it's own
arrogant swagger that Shankly identified with and encouraged. He wanted the
club to be the city, the bleed for them, to play for them, and to deliver on the
dreams of a city with working-class roots.

To dream is to be a Liverpool fan... It's an ingrained culture in the fan base, in
the city, in it's people. Brendan Rodgers did not represent his club or his people.
This is why he failed.

Off the field, this is an exciting time to be a Liverpool fan. Anfield has remained
unchanged for 17 years when the new Anfield Road end stand was opened in 1997.
The stadiums capacity was reduced from 61,905 to 45,276 after the Taylor Report
in 1994 ordered all British stadia be seating only.

The iconic stadium is too small to match it's club's history and ambition. 54,000
won't see us return the stadium to it's former size, but it's better than staying
with what we have.

You add any more strings to that bow of yours & it will look more like a guitar! :p

Honestly though. Cheers mate. The standard of presentation has gone up since last year. I've been keeping an eye on everyone's stories and they look pretty good :) I've a reputation to uphold so I'm making an effort to be more creative this term around :p
