Liverpool FC: The 5 Year Plan

This was quite a frustrating month with lows and highs. September is when the
league really kicks into the gear and the early leaders start to pull away from
the chasing pack.

poxy goal. Poor defending early in the game cost us 3 points.

What a win. I was nervous about this game since we'd lost both our opening games last season.
With Madrid in our pool, I knew we needed a win to have any chance to qualify.

I felt frustrated we didn't defend the lead. Our finishing was appalling as we registered only
one shot on target; it was a stroke of good fortune that it went in I guess. Correa and Firminho
were very disappointing and didn't create much.

Quite an even game but once again, we go out of the cup early. I'm having trouble getting the boys
to score. Very few shots on target so I need to look at fixing that.

That's more like it. Dominated the early proceedings and put 3 past them in the first half.
A win over the league leaders see's us cut their lead at the top of the table.

I've been getting on Sturridge's back since he hasn't been scoring many this season but he's
still the only striker in my squad I trust to show up when it matters. Two huge goals take see
up take charge of Group D

Sakho just hasn't been the same since his injury. he's been making many mistakes this season and
I took him off early after he gave away a penalty 11 minutes into the game. Sturidge rescued a point
but I consider it 2 points dropped. We're drawing too many games right now but taking points off City
was important. I'm hoping our finishing improves in the coming month.

Big win over Madrid mate, less said about some of the other results the better though :S

A strange month there with the results, got the big wins but struggled against the "lesser teams" hopefully only a little dip!

Aye, I agree with you.

Personally, I hate the concept of "lesser teams." In the English Football League system, there are 736 teams and the top 20 are in the Premier League. 0.027% of team in England are in the premier league so how any of them could be considered "lesser" is ludicrius when they are above 98% of the rest of English teams :P

But I understand that I should be beating them none the less :P

Delighted for Mendy as he bagged his first league goal. He's moved himself above Sinclair in the
pecking order and was picked ahead of him to go on the bench.

Huge win to give us 9 points from 9 in the group. A draw in the return leg should be
enough to qualify. Mendy again came off the bench to score, showing that even in the
Champions League, he can hold his nerve and finish well. I'm exited about what this
kid could be since he's taking the chances I throw his way.

quite a tight nervy affair to be honest. I don't feel that bad for coming away with a draw. A clean
sheet and a decent performance was enough for me. Things just didn't fall right to get the win.

Being honest, I'm disappointed to throw away a 3-1 lead at home. A great hat-trick by Sturridge
who seems to have found his scoring boots after a bad start to the season. Despite the draw,
we have to be delighted with the result since it guarantees passage to the first knock out round! :D

West Ham' United set the early pace and I have to admit, I'm impressed. They've taken
points of some of the traditional Title winning teams and our 1-1 with them looks like quite
a good result for us.

West Ham's results so far

Good start to the season so far, especially your performances in the Champions League have been very impressive. West Ham have had an amazing start but I don;t expect them to keep it up all season long. Next month will be a very important one it seems.

Some fantastic wins mate, especially vs Real,City and Torino.
West Ham are unstoppable, they're în a great form, but I'm sure you can take 'em down later. ;)

A good month there mate but wow, West Ham are on fire, are they selling out the new stadium :P

Southampton are something else! I'm sure they were relegated in the first season. Brendn how has the real "Welsh Xavi" developed?

Some good results there mate, Mendy is looking good! Whats his stats looking like now?

With off the ball like that, he could have been a dancer: he just knows how to move :P

Aye. I'm been impressed with them. If they can keep it up, the'll more than deserve a top 4 place since they've taken some big points off some big teams. tradition dictates that they'll drop away the further intot he seoasn we go... what what if? :)

Strange, West Ham are overachieving on mine too!

Haha, They have been the surprise package so far this season. I'm starting to think getting a point from them was a very good result.

Cheers maet. That's the plan. Try sneak psat them and have a good run in the Champions League :)

They sold out the stadium for the Chelsea game but other than that; some high attendances and some really low.

Screw West 'Am.

Everton in 18th with 2 wins from 11 makes the best reading. :).

Haha. Bieng a Liverpool fan, it's been something of an amusement to see them so far low then. Especially considering there's an everton story on the threads right now about them trying to get above Liverpool :P

Southampton are something else! I'm sure they were relegated in the first season. Brendn how has the real "Welsh Xavi" developed?

Aye, They were indeed. relegated first season and then the won the Championship; not via points, not via goal difference... but via goals for! :P 2016/17 was a very competitive season in the Championship

The Welsh Xavi: Martyn Morgan. He hasn't developed that much at all but I haven't been scouting him so I don't have an accurate screen shot.

While the hype around Mendy is justified, let us not forget that there is a world class prospect coming
through the clubs own ranks. Miller working really hard in the reserves and the only reason he's not in the
first team is the great form of Gomez and Skrtle. Though with Skrtle reaching 33, a spot should be opening
up at the end of the season.

Mendy looks like a real prospect! Loving your story as always, just gets better and better with every update!
