This is nothing to do with backgrounds its the actual skin background your changing so no you dont need backgrounds ticked.

Did you rename it default like the orginal one was?

Did you then click prefrences and confirm?

The BBC Sport doesn't have a backround folder. I've created a few using Skin Skin and that El Toreno one
