Nugent completes £1.4m move to Birmingham:
Former Preston striker Dave Nugent has completed a £1.4m move to Birmingham after being told he needed to be sold to balance out the spending. Dave Nugent was on loan at Burnley last season but picked up a cruciate ligament injury in his time there and failed to make an appearance. Nugent almost made previous moves to Stoke and Sevilla, but both clubs pulled out due to no available funds. Portsmouth gaffer Max King was quoted saying - "I feel sorry for Dave, he's a player that had massive potential when he was at Preston, but it shows that bringing players up from the Championship doesn't work sometimes and it has an awful effect on the players' career. Dave is a player I've always wanted to do well, but it just never worked out for him here. I wish him the best of luck".

Why did donovan leave? Thought you only signed him in January?
 
I decided to get rid of him him as he never played last season as he kept getting injured all the time and he was on about £50k a week, and nobody would buy him for cash so I just offered him out for a free and Bayern came in for him :) It was a good deal really as it got £50k off the wage budget which could be transferred into the transfer budget :)
 
Here are my pre season results. Pretty pleased with them except the Notts Forest game where we missed so many chances it was began to be painful to watch :'( Especially pleased with Dindane, got a good goal scoring record for pre-season :)
 
Good results Max. I think Maxwell will be great for Pompey

Some class signings Max. Im guessing your gonna use Maxwell as a wing back as his defending isnt great? Him and Deco will be class. What are your first few fixtures?

Yep he'll be used as a wingback.

& My first 3 games are:
Wigan - Away
Birmingham - Away
Fulham - Home

So a tough start but hoping for atleast 5 points.

Europe should hopfully be able to help with some of the loans there. But will still have to be carefull. Good luck in the season^^)
 
I'm not sure if I'm even in Europe because there has been no draw and Tottenham won the League Cup and finished mid table :S I think it was just 5th and 6th :'(

Wigan 0-1 Portsmouth (Utaka):
Even game but as always I brought on the lad named Utaka and he took control of a tired defence to run with the ball from the half way line, beating Bramble and Figueroa to smash home past Wigan to get us the 3 points in the last minute :D Great start.
 
Great start to the season, lets see how long you can keep the winning streak. Did Newcastle get promoted from the Championship ? Good Luck though Max.
 
Yeah they got promoted along with Sheff United and Ipswich, so it's good that WBA and Middlesbrough didn't come up :)

Birmingham 2-4 Portsmouth (Dindane 2, Saha 2):
Great performance away from home here with more goals from both sides. Birmingham played well and if they had a better defence they could be a top half side definitely. Another good result, next update will be after 5 games :)
 
Well looks like you are doing better than you wanted with 2 wins out of 2. 100% record. Keep it up Max !
