yeah but it is commonly admitted that nu-metal was a term invented by MTV and that any band who would be called or calls itself ''nu-metal'' is not to be considered metal.
I mean, jesus whatever happenned to the world that kids now lidten to korn and despise acdc I just don't understand (first time I heard of metal must have been around 10 and since...)

A METALHEART IS HARD TO TEAR APART

Heavy Metal is the Law-Helloween :p

seems fitting

I still would class Slipknot as metal like how you would class say the view as indie. They are in the genre but its like metal light in the case of slipknot, almost a parody of a metal band.

However I do much prefer slipknot to ac/dc :P

Just listening to old Metallica (Ride the Lightening and & Justice for All) such good albums, pity theyve been **** since i was born.

i never liked justice for all, my view of it was because the songs are complex that alone don't make it good. Its okay I like half the songs on the album.

I was surprised that death magnetic was a good effort, there strongest album since justice

The title of the album "Ultra Beatdown" and the front cover art alone, makes me wanna take a 12 guage to their ugly mugs.

Playing scales as fast as you can with ridiculous vocals, is something that doesn't really appeal to me in anyway.

That said, some metal bands are decent like Dream Theatre. Can't really get into the music though.

Yup thats what intially put me off metal (calling it all metal is such a massive generalisation like calling indie, indie, anyway) that it mostly seemed to be about over the top singing and playing technically the best song but something that didnt actually sound good. DT especially live just seem to be that to me, nice technically but it sounds horrible

Are you serious??? DT are amazing live. i urge you to get hold of Metropolis 2 live in New York. The full album live

it's great

No idea what ive actually seen but at my mates parties at around 2-3 when every1 was k/o in 6th year he used to put on various live DT dvds and it was absolute torcher

I'd just like to ask a question.

What's the opinion of those who like more traditional metal, on metalcore?

Metalcore is okay, i see people who like metalcore as metal babies, meaning if they like metalcore its a matter of time before they branch out to other genres of metal.

Dream Theatre flipping rock.. Petrucci's one of the best to ever pick up a pick.
Tool are feckin' awesome dot

And TMV are Gods.

The best bands i have listened are imo: Slayer, Kreator, Pantera, Jimi Hendrix and Best of em all: Led Zeppelin !
Plus there is some newish bands i have started listening: Avenged Sevenfold, August Burns Red and many more :D
Realy can´t list all the bands im listening :D It would take a day or two :)

if you like slayer, pantera and Kreater then try some old Megadeth material. There debut album Killing is my business is awesome

i have listened that.. i prefer metallica... :D exept i prefer mechanix more than 4 horsemen :D

yeah, its way faster and is just better, I used to like Metallica more, but after getting into Rust in Peace (which ****** all over master of puppets) and peace sells, then megadeth took over.

An Justice for all is the weakest album in Metallica's 80s stuff, it does nothing for me at all.

Still prefer Slayer best :D was listening em in Unholy Alliance III with Mastodon, Trivium and Amon Amarth :P

Rust in Peace doesnt **** on puppets, good album though

So what Megadeth album shud I get next?

slayer and kreator are just mythic although I liked only one kreator song, violent revolution, but didin't listened that much to them. I kinda have a problem with megadeath mustayne or whatever his name is is a real real poor singer. Pantera to me are like machinehead, they made one good song, a second song not so good then **** for years. If you like pantera check out old sepultura albums (the max cavalera era), now they're good amazing sonofabitches.
Any black metal fan? don't mention cradle of filmth please :)
And just what is metalcore? hatbreed and bands like that?

I think it does, its just faster and heavier and I like the sound more, although master of puppets is one of my favorite albums ever too.
But I think the 18 solo's in Hangar 18, the amazing rythem in tornado of souls, the most unique guitar riffs in Lucretia, the super fast posion was the cure all propel rust in peace above other metal albums I've ever heard. Every time I listen to it I find something different that rocks about it.

I recommend So Far So Good So What. It has In My Darkest Hour on (on of megadeths bests tracks) mary jane (another simular style good track) Into the lungs of **** (a rare instumental from megadeth) and set the world on fire which is just an insanely catchy song.
