Sepultura is decent.. never liked em horribly much..
i think black metal is just plain boring :D just my opinion :D
 
What do ya'll think of prog metal?

Generally hate prog as its dull and just seems to be guitar nerdz showing off what they can do *cough*Dream Theater*cough* but someone linked me to some live Opeth and I enjoyed it, even the prog element of it :o

Any opinions of Opeth and where I shoudl start?
 
opeth are gods, don't remember any album right now, but those guys made an album, they wrote a story without chapters or anything and then made the songs (aargh am not explaining well), imagine a book now imagine that's the lyrics of an album I considered it as a pretty tough job and the result is ver'y good.
Opeth is an excellent band although I would almost clssify them as black metal though I haven't listened to them in a long time.

Well I do heart Metallica, big time, seen them 4 times which isn't enough. It's a fact that do I look at them through rose-tinted spectacles, and think everything they've done is awesome. I'd probably be ok with James Hetfield killing a child, as I'd blame the child for getting in the way. Anyway...Load and re-Load were obviously a bit dodgy from a metal perspective. Death Magnetic was v good imo, Suicide and Redemption is for me the best instrumental they've done.

Kinda like slayer, though only have one album. I should download some Megadeth albums tbh. Like Maiden too.

Also a big fan of bands like Slipknot and SOAD...I guess some don't like them but I guess cos I grew up listening to that stuff it's kind of attached to me and I still like very much most of the stuff they do.
 
you forgot to mention St Anger, one the worst metal albums to come from one one the best metal bands oh the irony

Metal bands love thier concept albums
 
Operation Mincrime by Queensryche is a great concept album, one of my favorites.
 
Oh yea thats a swwet album but they ruined it by making operation mincrime 2

classic heavy from what I listen to, when it comes to voivod anyway. By the way, what an awful singer.

no iced earth fans around here? I wouldn't recommend later works to make an opinion, but the singer is pretty much one of the big three (bruce dickinson, blaze bayley, then marlow)

Yeah, I went to see them at Leeds last october, they done the operation mindcrime tour. They perfomred both albums 1 and 2 in their entirety. The second part of it sucked because operation mindcrime 2 is awfull.

OPETH are one of my favorite bands, If you are only starting to get into Opeth there best album, well easiest to get into would be Ghost Reveires.

Haha. It's not typical metal singing I know, they're hardcore influenced as well as metal so it's like the 2 blended together.
 
no, he can be influenced by japanese 16th century music if he wants to and still be a good singer, he is a bad singer. My opinion though.

The whole point is that he isn't meant to "sing" so to speak. It's meant to be aggressive - hence the hardcore.

If you're a fan of Black Metal I recommend Leftover Crack and Choking Victim. Albeit they're punk and ska with death metal and black metal influences. Which comes out sounding a little weird.
