Burnley Announce Changes for the Upcoming Season

Burnley Football Club would like to announce the managerial changes made at the club on the 7th of July. Brian Laws has quit his job days after accepting the role to concentrate on a career as a journalist, and we have quickly looked to hire young manager Michael Henson as the new manager of Burnley Football Club.

We would like to thank Brian Laws for his effort during his short time at the club, and the work and effort he has put it behind the scenes also in the short time he has been here. Brian was a fan favourite here as a player and will be missed by the loyal Burnley fans.

We ensure you Michael Henson is the man for this job, and that he can consolidate a respesctable position in the Premier League within a few seasons. We don't expect him to be in the top half this season, and we hope to consolidate in the season safely without relegation fears of any kind. Financially we will be backing him with a budget of around £4m, we feel this is enough money to bring in any players he needs, and also enough to shift on to the wage budget if he should go over it.

Michael Henson was later quoted as saying...

I’m delighted to take on such a good job with a great opportunity of getting into Europe in a few seasons, I hope it will work out for me and hopefully I can bring the likes of Barcelona and Inter Milan to Turf Moor within the next few years. I’ll be looking to add to the squad with a few experienced players brought into the club on free transfers and hopefully some youth to turn into future superstars.

Hope people will follow

Well, you have my name, so I can only wish you the very best of luck.

You don't happen to be from Wales, do you? XD

Pre-Season Update
Transfers In/Out
View attachment 63940

13. Shabani Nonda
View attachment 63930
Brought in on a free transfer, Nonda will be used as a rotation player and will provide back up to Yannick Djalo and Steven Fletcher. He will mainly be used as a sub and will probably come on in the last 25 minutes to make sure we see the game out. He will most probably start in the Carling Cup and FA Cup and in the less important Barclays Premier League games.

15. Bonaventure Kalou
View attachment 63931
The brother of Soloman will provide cover for Chris Eagles and Wade Elliott. Like Nonda, he will mainly be used as a sub and start all the Carling Cup and FA Cup games. Brought in on a free transfer, if he doesn’t fit into the team we will not be wasting a large amount of money.

20. Yannick Djalo
View attachment 63932
After an amazing scout report came in on Yannick, we decided to spent a quarter of out transfer budget on him. He will be our main striker with Steven Fletcher and will provide the extra pace up front that we desperately need. Hopefully, he will turn into a world superstar.

21. Lauren
View attachment 63933
The ex-Portsmouth and Arsenal player was brought in on a free transfer to provide tough competition for Tyrone Mears at right back. He will hopefully add some experience to the back four and will have a good link up with fellow countryman Andre Bikey.

In other news, Frederic Nimani has had his loan terminated as we felt that we had enough strikers on our books and he would not get any first team action. Also we were paying £7,500 of his wages so they can now be spent elsewhere.

Squad 09/10

Goalkeepers
View attachment 63937
Brian Jensen will be our main keeper for the season with Nicky Weaver being employed as cover from the subs bench. Weaver and Penny will alternate in the cup competitions and reserve games and will hopefully push for a starting place in the near future.

Defenders
View attachment 63935
Our main defence line will consist of Lauren at right back, with Bikey and Carlisle at centre back with either Danny Fox or Stephen Jordan at Left Back. The rest of the defenders will be used on the subs bench and will provide competition with each other for the starting places in the cup competitions.

Midfielders
View attachment 63938
Joey Gudjonsson will be our main Defensive Midfielder throughout the campaign with Jack Cork playing in front of him in a central midfield role or an attacking midfield role. Eagles and Elliott will be our main starters on the wing and will alternate on each side. Kalou and Blake will play in the cup competitions and will mostly be on the bench.

Forwards
View attachment 63936
The main strike force will consist of Steven Fletcher and Yannick Djalo for the season, with Dave Nugent and Martin Paterson being employed as super subs. Nonda and Thompson will mainly play in the cup competitions and will rotate with Nugent and Paterson on the bench.

Pre-Season Results
View attachment 63939
Overall it was a good pre-season with only one defeat and one draw in nine games with us winning the rest of them. Defeat against Fiorentina shows that we are still some way off competing for the European places but a win against Hearts shows that we can compete with some of the big boys in the league. The result against the Glenn Hoddle Academy was a master class in attacking heading from corners with Andre Bikey scoring four goals from corners. Hopefully, we can use these results to push on with the Premier League season and avoid relegation.

Play Shabani Nonda as a Complete Forward, I signed him when I was Hull and he finished the season with 33 goal's.

It's just a shame he was on the only person in the team to get a goal. Yes I did get relegated :(

Also, when I was Burnley, when I played 'Big Team's' when you do the team talk? Say 'Wish Luck' that seemed to work wonders for me. :)

Manager’s Player of the Month
Chris Eagles
View attachment 63957
Chris has been in great form during August contributing to 2 goals and 1 assist. His pace has been a problem for the opposition defences and his accurate crosses are being met by the forwards. He put in a great performance against Plymouth in the League Cup and won the game for us in the end.

Other News
  • Manchester City’s Emmanuel Adebayor won Player of the Month scoring four goals in four games with an average rating of 8.35.
  • Manchester United’s Jonny Evans won Young Player of the Month with his performances earning an average rating of 7.38.
  • Alex Ferguson won Manager of the Month after guiding Manchester United to the top of the table with four wins out of four.
  • Arsenal’s Andrey Arshavin won then Goal of the Month for his goal against Tottenham.

Monthly Review

Overall it has been a good month for Burnley finishing in mid-table with five points from four games. One victory, two draws and one loss has lead us to 9th place in the table. We had a good victory over our arch rivals Blackburn and had good stalemates with Euro Cup competitors Fulham and Aston Villa. The loss against Chelsea was because of a Frank Lampard master class so we can overlook that results.

Next Month’s Fixtures
12.9.09 – Birmingham [A] – Premier Division
19.9.09 – Liverpool [H] – Premier Division
22.9.09 – Ipswich [A] – League Cup 3rd Round
26.9.09 – Everton [H] – Premier Division

good luck mate, Ive been Burnley before and struggled big time, after I was relegated first season, struggled to even reach the playoffs. Hopefully you'll have more success!

I'd say that's a pretty good month. Let's hope you can keep it up!

Thanks mate, hopefully I can stay up because I heard if you do keep them up you get a large budget in the 2nd season :D

I was disappointed that we didn't win against Aston Villa because we dominated the game but there was nothing we could do about the Chelsea result because Lampard scored a screamer from 30 yards after Alexander had brought down Bosingwa as he had too much pace for him :(

Good story and nice layout pal! I'm liking it! (H)

loving the story mate and a good month i would say.Try aiming for a mid-table finish and maybe if u get a good run of resuts,Top 10 may not also be far off
