After reading through several Champions League challenge stories, I too have decided to jump on the bandwagon and begin one myself.
I have recently started a save with Real Madrid which I intended it being just a normal save but as I'm early on in the season I've decided to try and attempt the challenge with it.
So lets begin.....

A solid start to the league campaign was followed up with a great come back in the 2nd leg to win the Super cup against Barcelona. As I explained in my opening post, I wasn't planning on making this save into a story/challenge so these transfers are completely different to ones I would have probably made.

Should be pretty straight forward with only Schalke posing a possible threat.

A slip up against both Granada and Rayo has given the edge to Barcelona in the early season race for the league title. On a plus side Cristiano Ronaldo has found his scoring boots after netting 5 goals in 4 league games this month.
In other news, we've been drawn against Eibar in the 4th round of the spanish cup, with the 1st leg being played away.

Eibar 3-2 Real Madrid
Gonzalo Higuain (2)

We couldn't have got off to a worse start to the month, an absolute battering by Barcelona at the Nou Camp leaves us sitting in 3rd currently 2 points behind the leaders. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 2nd hat-trick of the season at home to Celta, while Higuain seems to enjoy scoring away from the league. A minor blip in Switzerland was rectified with a thumping win over Schalke in Germany. Cant say im not disappointed in the defeat to Eibar as we ruled the match from start to finish but was unable to convert our many chances, oh well there's always the 2nd leg.

If we are to win anything this season we need to sort out our away form as its been dismal with not being able to score as easily as we have at home.

Real Madrid 6-0 Eibar
Marcelo, Wellington Nem (2), Angel Di Maria, Gonzalo Higuain, Pepe

Apart from the defeat away to Betis it was a good month in the league which included big wins over Levante & Athletic Bilbao. We had originally leveled with Barcelona at the top until the loss which now sees us slip back into 3rd 3 points behind the Catalan giants.
The win against Schalke saw us through to the Knock-out stages quite comfortably, despite already qualifying I still sent out a strong team to Denmark due to there still being 1st place up for grabs in which it paid off as we have now qualified top so we should get a easier draw.
I wan't going to take any risks by sending out a weaker team again against Eibar. Quite pleased that Wellington Nem is getting among the goals recently.

* We had made some inquiries to 3 right backs as I feel we are still weak in that area, they were:
Ignazio Abate - £28.5m
Micah Richards - £11.5m
Lukasz Piszczek - Dismissed
I wasn't willing to pay that much for a player that wasn't necessarily going to be 1st team so i turned Abate away and decided to sign Richards as he will provide cover for the Center Back role too. He will join on the 2nd January.

Some good wins this month in the league but yet again inconsistency away from home is letting us down, we really need to improve this before its too late.
We sent out a very young team out for the Basel game as we were already through as group leaders, least they went 1 better than my first team by actually scoring.
We went 2-0 up after 18 minutes in the 1st leg and some how got blown away in the 2nd half, so I thought we'd be up against it in the 2nd leg oh how wrong was I??? 5-0 up after 34 minutes so I was quite surprised we couldn't get double figures.

A little disappointed to have dropped points against At. Madrid & Valencia but that was to be expected really with our lack of away form. We continue to batter other teams at home and we have now scored 41 goals in just 10 home games in the league this season while conceding just 3.

Yet again our away form lets us down in the away leg against Granada after going 2-0 up early on, i was Confident however going into the return leg but would like to have scored more than just the 1. Next up was Barcelona at home, and yet again we delivered at home smashing them 4-0 although they were without Messi. The 2nd leg we were leading at half-time and Messi was kept quiet, the 2nd half however was a different story as they scored 3 in 10 minutes but it wasn't enough to deny us a meeting with At. Madrid in the final.

Paris St Germain 0-0 Real Madrid

4 wins out of 4 in the league this month has definitely kept our title hopes alive and that's even with 2 away games thrown in the mix, Angel Di Maria has been great this month grabbing 5 goals in 4 games. We play Barcelona next with them being 2 points clear of us at the top.

When the draw was made for the knock-out stages I was dreading being drawn against these after their big spending in the summer, and I had a reason to, if Javier Pastore had taken his chances then there wouldn't be any need to play a 2nd leg as he had 5 clear cut chances for his self. Could be a close game in the return game.

Another unbeaten month and it couldnt have got off to a better start as we climbed above Barcelona after demolishing them 3-0. Cristiano Ronaldo seems to be scoring for fun this season notching up another 6 goals this month.

We completely out played PSG and we're through to the quarter finals where will play Ac. Milan.

* Sorry not been able to post the League table as I forgot to take a screenshot.

We were scoring for fun yet again this month as we look set to smash the record for goals scored in a single league season which currently stands at 121. We set out a weakened team against Osasuna in preparation for the Arsenal 2nd leg, it didn't help as Alonso & Benat both got sent of in the 37th minute.

View attachment 301175

I was really surprised by the 1st leg win as it was played away, nevertheless we were confident that we would seal the win at home. Next up was Arsenal, we went in at half-time with a slender 1-0 lead and I thought this wouldn't be enough so I chucked on Benzema and he repaid us by banging in 2 quick goals shortly after coming on. All we have to do now is keep it tight at the Emirates.

* Just a quick note, Barcelona have made the final after overturning a 3-1 deficit in the 1st leg against Juventus to progress 6-3 on aggregate after thumping them 5-0 in the return leg.

3 wins out of 3 and 3 goals scored without conceding in each game, overall a good solid month for us in the league.

We stayed tight at the Emirates which all we needed to do and we now face Barcelona for the 7th time this season.

A dubious looking penalty decision gave us a 1-0 win over a Falcao missing At Madrid side in the Spanish cup final to hand us our 2nd piece of silverware this season.

* Just about to play the Champion's league final and Casillas has been ruled out... GREAT!!!

So the curtain comes down on a great 1st season. We've lifted 3 out of a possible 4 trophies although I am a little disappointed not to have won the league but hey ho its the Champions League Challenge so..... I was offered a new contract after the Champions League final and I decided to delay it until the end of the season in the hope of a big manager gets sacked or leaves. This was not the case, so when the time came, I signed a 2 year extension. We have signed 2 new players after getting a budget of £137m.

Xherdan Shaqiri - FC Bayern £24.5m
Jack Wilshere - Arsenal £29m

Tried signing Neymar as he was transfer listed at the start of february but he decided to join Man Utd instead. On the 30th June Jupp Heynckes retired as the manager of Bayern and I thought this would be a great chance to grab my 2nd Champions league trophy. I signed a contract with Bayern 8 days later.

A good solid start to my Bayern Munich reign. We won the German Super Cup with an impressive 5-2 win over St Pauli.
Next up was the simple task of disposing Karlsruhe in the German cup, Tobias Schweinsteiger is impressing at the moment.
We rounded of the month with 2 wins in the league thanks to Robben & Muller with both scoring in the games.

* I will post transfers, Champions League draw and such tomorrow.
