Norway started the stronger team, but failed to convert any pressure into efforts on goal. However, with twenty minutes playes, the most unlikely of players popped up to score and it was Rosenborg's Hogli. He scored a diving header from outside the six yard box. This goal seemed to spur on Nigeria and they went in search of a goal. That goal came from Yakubu who slotted the ball past Jarstein the keeper. The second half was entertaining end to end football and it was Nigeria who took a deserved lead. It came from left winger Uche who cut inside to score. The lead only last three minute when Holm scored from a freekick outside the area. The game finished 2-2, which was good fro a neutral's point of view, but still leaves Nigeria searching for a win under Gharthouse.
