Mr Langvatn's Tactic Thread (Updated for 13.3.3)

Credit where credit is due Rock 4141 classic is the best tactic ive used on 13.3.3. Wasn't convinced with some of your other tactics but this is great. It hardly concedes any goals and with the right team talks Im unbeaten in 42 games.

Also a point to note, I find using tall strikers a little more effective then speedy ones with no height. A little creativity would not go a miss as well. Training my regen as a complete forward for using this. CMs should have decent shooting capability to take advantage of the knockdowns
 
Hi guys, is the Rock Classic the best for the normal game career mode as well or only on classic mode?

If not- which tactic would be the best for 13.3.3?

I think this is the case in any tactic this year in FM. With the new collision detection it is much harder for players to use pace and dribbling to maximum effect in the centre forward position. When strikers get chances it is usually through muscling his way into the box or using strength to get onto a ball in the box, rather than picking it up deep and dribbling or by beating the offside trap and racing through on the keeper.

Even when strikers are set to run with ball often, a striker with 8 dribbling 8 pace 17 strength and 17 jumping will do better than a striker with 17 dribbling 17 pace and 8 strength. Mental attributes and Strength related attributes are king this year.

They key to teamtalks is the second part. I never knew about this until reading the guide by rakan? I normally just get assistant to do the team talk BUT then you can give a second teamtalk either individually or to defence, midfield and attack. When doing this second teamtalk I always use calm and I have faith or at half time you've done ok but theres more to come from you

PS. in the game when I tried to use the "Rock", not the "Rock Classic"- it comes up as a proper formation where I can choose the player role etc. But the "Rock Classic" there seems to be less things I can do with the formation. I am a bit confused at the moment.. What is the difference and which should I use if I am playing the normal career mode?

I've been using minimum pitch size.

Classic tactics only works for "normal game career mode" (Like Rock 4-1-4-1 Rock Classic). FMC (classic game mode) can only make use of wizard tactics (like Rock 4-1-4-1).

You can google the differences between classic mode and normal career mode. Anyway, it's the Rock Classic you need to use if you are going normal career mode.
 
Thanks for that keithbeaky I never used the individual talks TBH I never realised they made such impact on the player. I will read the guide you mentioned I know which one it is.
Do you do all the team talks manually now?
the thing with this tactic is I'm struggling with the away games against the bigger teams. Even though I'm 3rd in the prem! I just seem to get spanked. But I think with a different approach on the team talks that could be key.

I am using the Rock Classic with Bournemouth in the Championship and I am doing quite well, but I would be interested to know if people are using opposition instructions or not. If you use them does it make any difference?
 
Oh you use pitch size minimum! WOW this entire time I've been using standard smh.

Did I read for the 4141 rock classic that despite that fact that playmaker is ticked, we don't actually select one in the playmaker list?

Going to leave Chesterfield and join Newcastle (sick of my board refusing to improve the training or youth facilities)

We have lower League two/Non League facilites, and it's driving me crazy that the board lack ambition to adapt and move the club forward. Newcastle are currently 11th in the Championship, having just been relegated from the Premier League after regular top 8 finishes in the Premier League before getting relegated.

I've also had lots of other job offers this season, 3 Premier League offers from Hull, Wigan and QPR this season.. along with numerous offers from Hamilton, Hearts, Ipswich, West Ham, Bristol City, Crystal Palace.. but I rejeced them all, to stay with Chesterfield


Anyway just thought I'd show you how I faired with this tactic in the Premier League:

As you can see, we have by far and away the lowest budget in the League, Sunderland are the 2nd lowest and there's is £25 million more than ours!

We again have a small squad that lacks quality in numbers, alot of my squad is no where near good enough for this level. Our facilities are appalling for this level, we are ground sharing with Notts County.. so the pitch is in very poor condition (no surprise for a League One ground that has games being played on it week in week out)

But we find ourselves outside the relegation zone, we started off poorly and struggled to adapt to the Premier League.. we should have won games alot earlier, but late individual errors cost us. But we have won our last 4 games in a row in the Premier League (including a 1-0 home win over Man Utd)
Once we beat Aston Villa we started to find our feet, and we also put five past Liverpool at Anfield again (this time winning 5-0 in the Premier League :D )

I'd be scared to see how we would have done, had I brought in a left back and right back that were half decent at this level (both League One level full backs) plus Gary Caldwell (is really slow, and not the greatest for this level at his age anymore) alongside Sonny Bradley.. who probably wouldn't get in most AI Championship teams.

Alot of players don't want to join us, due to our poor facilities/reputation and small stadium. Plus I refuse to pay the wages that some of the players were requestin to join us (I also lost one of my key players from the season before, Larnell Cole.. who was out of contract but wanted a massive new contract compared to his old contract)

I have problems in 4-1-4-1 rock classic , too much injuries . One-two per match . Any idea how to solve that ??

I know Mr Langvatn stands by his classic rock as the best tactic but is anyone still having success with the original tactic creator version?

Interested to hear from others who are having success with the original as opposed to the classic version.
