Alright welcome to my Hibs story for Football Manager 2014, hopefully my only story for this game. And hopefully unlike last year I don't suffer game save corruptions where I have to start again.

And hopefully my new laptop doesn't be a little **** like my last one and **** out on me (Using a HP Pavilion G6 for those wondering)

My dream story would be to emulate stonecold's Aberdeen story from last year in which he just ran away with the whole thing. Seen a few stories in which people transform an average club like Aberdeen, this year is Tranmere (can't remember who is writing that).

The database is completely up to date (Felix Magath is Fulham manager)

I will hold my hands up and say that I did use the editor at the start. But that was to only change player positions which they play strongly in real life, but either have a poor rating there or don't play there in the game e.g. Kevin Thomson isn't listed as a DM in game despite being one IRL. Also to add a few preferred moves to players to make them more like their counterparts IRL, such as Alex Harris trying to take players on more.

So, now that we're sitting comfortably... could the gentleman in the front row please wipe the sick off his face?... Anyway, in the words of Bane; Let The Games Begin!

Staff Changes

After haggling with the board I managed to get the amount of coaches increased to seven

Backroom staff now looks like this

Manager: Me

Assistant Manager: Javi garcia

Reserves Manager/Attacking Coach: James McDonaugh

Defensive Coach: Arthur Albiston

Goalkeeping coach: Scott Thomson

Fitness Coach: Martyn Pert

Technical Coach (Shooting): Peter Stephenson

Technical Coach (Ball Control): Scott Kellacher

Chief Scout: Steve Marsella

Head Physio: Davie Henderson

Senior Physio: Katherine "Kitty" Mackinnon

Player/Under 19s coach: Alan Maybury

Under19s Coach: Guillaume Beuzelin

So the training now looks good & all sectors are above two stars, most having three & a half stars

And in a surprise move, Walter Smith was announced as our new Director of Football

Club Link

In the same discussion about the coaches I also managed to get the board to agree to a Parent club link, I ended up picking Tottenham as Hibs new parent club. Was hoping to get Liverpool as they have a few good young players such as Flanagan.

Can you also have an aim to batter hearts in a cup final? Bitter hibbee here :P

AUGUST

Unbeaten first month
Handling on fire
Keeper exchange

Fixtures

Europa League 3rd Qualifying Round 1st Leg

Hibernian 2 (Heffernan 29, Tudur-Jones 31)
Standard Liege (de Camargo 9)

What a comeback, were dominated for the first 20 minutes which was highlighted by their goal
After 25 minutes we started winning more possession and managed to ****** to quick goals. Quiet 2nd half

Hibernian 3 (Handling pen 5 & 43, Taiwo 83)
Motherwell 2 (Sutton 40, Ainsworth 51)

The perverbial ping-pong match, both keepers tested plenty of times. Culminated in a rocket-after-a-clearence-from-a-corner style goal from Tommy Taiwo

Europa League 3rd Qualifying Round 2nd Leg

Standard Liege 2 (Vainqueur 10, Muirhead O.G. 38)
Hibernian 2 (Heffernan pen 16, Harris 68)

Hibs win 4-3 on aggragate

Nail biter, after Harris scored the tie was wrapped up since even if we lost 3-2 we'd still win on away goals

Hearts 4 (Oliver 12, 20 & 38, Scott Robinson 27)
Hibernian 5 (Collins 13 & 25, McKay O.G. 47, Handling 65 & pen 89)

Holy mother of god what a derby, was resigned to defeat after the 3rd goal from Oliver. Laid into the team at half-time and it seemed to have done the trick
Maybe got lucky with the Danny Handling pen in the last minute

Hibernian 3 (Muirhead 31, Collins 86, Heffernan 90+1)
Dundee United 0

A fantastic win. Until Collins' goal I kept expecting United to equalise. Then Heffernan pops up with a similar goal to put the cherry on top of the icing on top of the cake

Europa League Playoff 1st Leg

Braga 0
Hibernian 0

Not bad considering I went for the shut up shop tactic. Unlucky not to get an away goal though

Kilmarnock 0
Hibernian 3 (Handling 21 & pen 75, Pascali O.G. 79)

Handling seems to be scoring for fun in the League. An excellent win against a Killie side that did cause us problems.

Europa League Playoff 2nd Leg

Hibernian 1 (Collins 27)
Braga 2 (Alan 32, Candeias 74)

Really unlucky in this, felt we could scrape through but Kevin Thomson being sent off made things very difficult for us

SUMMARY

A very pleasing first competitive month. Young Danny Handling on fire scoring for fun. Had a goodish run in Europe, would've loved to get to the group stage but it wasn't to be
The only downside was young Sammy Stanton getting repetativly injured

LEAGUE

View attachment 420732

Perched top above Celtic, still a long way to go though
And I see Hearts have lost their 5 games and haven't reduced their points deduction

Before I go any further, here are my goals for this story

1. Win the Scottish League Cup
2. Win the Scottish Cup
3. Win the Scottish Premiership
4. Win all three in the same season
5. Expand Easter Road or build a new stadium
6. Surpass Hearts' total wins in the Edinburgh derby
7. Win the Europa League
8. Win the Champions League
9. Surpass Celtic as the top club in Scotland
10. Win the Club World Cup
11. Become the manager of a national side
12. Win the national side's continental competition (Euro, Copa America, African Cup of Nations)
13. Win the World Cup
14. Guiding Hibs to being one of or the richest clubs in the world
15. Become the best club in Europe
16. Become the greatest Manager of all time

Some of these goals are more doable than others but I'll give it my best shot

SEPTEMBER

Hibernian-v-Heart-of-Midl-006.jpg

Streak Ends
Back to reality

FIXTURES

Hibernian 1 (Watmore 32)
Ross County 2 (Kiss 7, Ross 41)

Well the streak is over & not in the best way possible. Not sure what the team was doing but it sure wasn't pretty. Only good thing from our side was Watmore's solo run from the half way line to score the equaliser

St. Johnstone 2 (May 39, Croft 87)
Hibernian 1 (C. Davidson O.G. 70)

Two kicks in the teeth in the same game. Not the best debut from McGovern as he kicks the ball again May during a goal kick then allows him to score an open goal. The Croft winner was another kick in the teeth as it came from a scrambled corner

Hibernian 1 (Stevenson 86)
St Mirren 0

Back to winning ways it seems thanks to a late goal from the transfer listed Lewis Stevenson

Scottish League Cup 3rd Round

Hearts 1 (McHattie 64)
Hibernian 2 (Handling 38, Haynes 41)

Day of the Danny. Bombarded Hearts with chances and managed to tuck away two from both strikers. McHattie pulled one back from a good free kick. Bad note from this game is Tommy Tackle (Taiwo fyi) suffered a broken ankle and is sidelined for 2-3 months

Inverness CT 0
Hibernian 2 (Cairney 5, Muirhead 61)

Good win against our rivals for 2nd place. Would've been 0-3 but Collins missed a pen on 84 mins

SUMMARY

After a bad start to the month with 2 losses on the trot which brought us back to reality we put our heads down and worked harder. Progression in the cup is always pleasing even if it is the League Cup

LEAGUE

View attachment 420041

Celtic still top (Just noticed they've got Ravel Morrison on loan from the Irons). Us and Caley duking it out for 2nd place, Hearts still with a pretty big deficit at the bottom and out of the League Cup.....

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

0,,10290~12219072,00.jpg

Owain Tudur-Jones

This guy was unstoppable this month, seemed to be the only one who cared in the first two games, was the main factor in the goals, always finding the killer passes. Unlucky not to score a few of his long shots (which is his strongest stat)

OCTOBER

201561-partick-thistle-0-1-hibernian-ovtober-2013.jpg

FIXTURES

Partick Thistle 0
Hibernian 1 (Craig 61)

This result is a true mind-****. Same result, same scorer, just 8 minutes off the goal time as the result in real life

Hibernian 0
Celtic 1 (Mulgrew 1)

Although we battled for this fixture we could do nothing about Charlie Mulgrew's free kick

Hibernian 1 (McGivern 39)
Aberdeen 1 (Roberton 90+1)

Robbed of two points by the ref giving Aberdeen a free-kick for nothing

Scottish League Cup Qtr Final

Hibernian 4 (Zoubir 25, 32 & 90+2, Watmore 80)
Greenock Morton 1 (McNeil 23)

Had the "this is typical" thoughts when Morton first scored, then Zoubir showed true French class to decimate their defence. Almost like watching Le God (Franck Sauzee) again *sniff sniff*

SUMMARY

An average month but one we can be happy with. Giving the attacking power in Celtic's squad we can be happy to only concede 1 goal.

LEAGUE

Same as last time; Celtic top, we're still battling with Caley for 2nd place, Hearts still on minus points.....

Jordon Forster

This guy has a fantastic future, solid rock at the back who was the main cause of Celtic only scoring one.

NOVEMBER

208749-st-mirren-hibs.jpg

FIXTURES

Motherwell 0
Hibernian 3 (Stanton 1, Haynes 6, Handling 7)

Don't think I've ever seen a team race to a 3 nil lead that quick. Sadly we basically just relaxed after that instead of putting the game to bed

Hibernian 3 (Haynes 32 & 90+1, Handling 71)
Inverness CT 2 (Woodrow 17, Keatings 72)

Quite lucky to win this one, always seem to get a really good game vs Caley but this does give us and edge against them in the table

St. Mirren 1 (Tudur-Jones O.G. 28)
Hibernian 3 (Handling 22 & 26, Collins 46)

Another good win and another great performance from Handling. Shame about Tudur-Jones putting it in the wrong net though

Scottish Cup 4th Round

Hibernian 4 (Hanlon 18, Stanton 27, Handling 43 & 64)
Partick Thistle 1 (Lawless 74)

Getting closer to one of my goals. Fantastic performance from the youngsters Handling & Stanton, Handling assisted Stanton's goal & Stanton assisted both Handling's goals

SUMMARY

A really good month, won all our games in convincing fasion (apart the CT game in which we got lucky)

LEAGUE

Given ourselves some breathing room between ourselves & Caley. Only 4 points behind Celtic. Hearts still on minus points... (You know it's coming)..

Danny Handling

Who else? The boy once again on fire, scoring in every game and even grabbing a few assists

MANAGERIAL CHANGE

It seems this game knows better than it's real life counter-parts, David Moyes sacked by Manchester United & replaced by...

Jurgen Klopp, whom I thought should've been appointed United manager in the first place

DECEMBER

Saints can't handle Handling

FIXTURES

Hibernian 1 (Craig 68)
Partick Thistle 0

If it wasn't a home tie it would accurate with the real life fixture in October

Celtic 3 (Pukki 22, Taylor 42, Mulgrew 48)
Hibernian 1 (Harris 55)

A bitter loss. Heaviest defeat yet. Completely bossed by Celtic and were lucky to even score a goal

Hibernian 6 (Cairney 14, Handling 48, 52, 75, 76 & 87)
St. Johnstone 0

Me during the second half:

shocked-cat-o_thumb.gif

Ross County 2 (Ross 13, Boyd 46)
Hibernian 5 (Boyd O.G. 12, Harris 45, 69 & 87, Forster 81)

A fantastic match and wonderful to see the youth players showing their utter quality

Hibernian 2 (Watmore 24, Cairney 81)
Kilmarnock 0

Great way to round off the month, happy that Watmore got a goal since he's been injured or lacking fitness most of the time he's been here

SUMMARY

After a slightly dodgy start to the month the Hibernian bulldozer went into high gear. I still have to pinch myself when I see that score against St. Johnstone

LEAGUE

View attachment 419555

Created a lot of breathing room between ourselves & Caley, still holding onto Celtic's tail. Hearts still on minus-..... wait.....

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

0,,10290~12043347,00.jpg

Alex Harris

Handling was a strong contender for the player of the month yes, but Harris was the key man in all games, teams couldn't handle him on the right wing

MANAGERIAL CHANGES

Stuart McCall sacked by Motherwell after poor run of results which leaves them in the bottom half. Replaced by George Burley
Brendan Rogers sacked by Liverpool, replaced by Argentine Marcelo Bielsa
Pepe Mel sacked by West Brom, replaced by Brian McDermott
Alan Pardew sacked by Newcastle United, replaced by 'Arry Redknapp

JANUARY

0,,10284~12515237,00.jpg

FIXTURES

Hibernian 1 (Tudur-Jones 68)
Hearts 0

Another pleasing win against our rivals. Undefeated against them this season

Dundee United 2 (Ciftci 44, El Alagui 86)
Hibernian 2 (Duffie 14, Haynes 84)

Annoying end to this game, thought we'd won it with Haynes' solo run goal, sadly they pulled it back immediately from a corner

Aberdeen 2 (Masson 30, Hector 90+1)
Hibernian 0

Seriously considering fielding a complaint since Aberdeen fielded a player who doesn't even play for them... which is actually my fault since I didn't alter the database so Hector was back at Reading

Hibernian 3 (Craig 21, Cornell O.G. 33, Collins 54)
St. Mirren 1 (Newton 19)

Another fantastic comeback from the lads

Hibernian 1 (Handling 60)
Celtic 2 (Biton 1, Johansen 26)

*Sigh* Just cannot seem to get one over on Celtic this season. They aren't undefeated by they are definitely OP compared to everyone else

Inverness CT 2 (Christie 45+1, Keating 69)
Hibernian 2 (Heffernan 16, Harris 67)

What is it with us and basically becoming half-arsed when we score 2 goals? Really grating on my nerves now

SUMMARY

A mixed month we won games, drew games & lost games. Transfer market dominated the month although I personally am looking forward to March for the youth intake

LEAGUE

View attachment 419271

Not much change at all. Still behind Celtic & ahead of Caley & County. Hearts acutally catching up on St. Mirren now. Least it's more realistic, most of the time they're out of minus points by September

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

No One

There weren't any stand out performers this month

TRANSFERS

IN

From parent club Tottenham we took youth player Gareth Ba-... woops sorry... youth player Kenneth McEvoy on loan (he looks like Bale!)

A1032.jpg

OUT

Few players left on loan, including three first team players I regarded as deadwood and was trying to sell throughout the window. Could only get them loan deals though

Jay Doyle - Queens Park
Bradley Donaldson - Brechin
Lewis Stevenson - Bristol City
Thomas Gardiner - Livingston
Paul Cairney - Millwall
Michael Nelson - Port Vale

Hopefully the three first team loanees will leave at the end of the season, hoping to promote youth players to replace them since Petrie is reluctant to give us some funds

Back to winning ways

FIXTURES

Scottish League Cup Semi Final

Hibernian 4 (Collins 4, 35 & 44, Craig 72)
St. Mirren 2 (Taylor 24, McGivern O.G. 32)

Into the final of the League cup where we shall play Ross County. A dominating performance and St. Mirren's only chances came from corners, from which they scored their two goals

Scottish Cup 5th Round

Cowdenbeath 1 (McPake O.G. 5)
Hibernian 2 (Collins 55, Handling 69)

Despite winning, an unacceptable performance from the lads against lower league opposition.

Hibernian 4 (Tudur-Jones 13, Handling 37, Harris 41, Collins 83)
Ross County 1 (Brittain 76)

A preview of the League Cup final? Will be delighted if it goes this way

Kilmarnock 1 (Johnstone 45+1)
Hibernian 1 (Handling 22)

Hard fought match, back & forth... Well the first half was anyway, second half was boring as heck

SUMMARY

A good month, through in both cups, into the final of the League Cup so one goal is near completion & another is showing progression. Really looking forward to next month

Another average month
New youth stars

FIXTURES

Hibernian 2 (Zoubir 74, Collins 90+4)
Dundee United 2 (Graham 11, Muirhead O.G. 43)

Very lucky to draw this, thought we were out of it by half time, only a James Collins bullet header saved us

Scottish Cup Qtr Final

Hibernian 4 (Muirhead 8, Harris 35 & 49, Handling 76)
Motherwell 3 (Lawson 16, Sutton 18 & 45+2)

Another good comeback win, went in at 3-2, laid into the team at half time & they delivered in the second half

Partick Thistle 1 (Welsh pen 25)
Hibernian 1 (Haynes 16)

Real boring match, barely any highlights. Only highlights were the goals and poort attempts

LEAGUE CUP FINAL WILL BE IN A SEPARATE POST

St. Johnstone 1 (Easton 67)
Hibernian 1 (Handling 23)

Back to league action in boring fashion

Hibernian 0
Motherwell 2 (Lawson 29, McFadden 37)

Out classed & out played, hopefully this isn't the typical slump Hibs seem to go through after each winter

Hearts 0
Hibernian 2 (Harris 16, Pyper 74)

Another Derby another win. Still undefeated against Hearts. For those wondering "Who is Pyper?", this was his debut (although he was an unused sub in the League Cup Final), for who he is please scroll down

SUMMARY

A mixed month; wins, draws, defeats & an intake of youth players

GOAL 82 Minutes - Alex Harris slams the ball home from a tight angle after the rolls to him after a challenge on Danny Handling inside the box

FT - Hibernian 3 - 0 Ross County

A fantastic victory to win our first trophy since 2007, thankfully it's not our usual near 2 decades trophy wait. Always lovely to add something except dust to the Hibs trophy cabinet

I am enjoying this story KIU!

APRIL

The-Celtic-winger-James-F-011.jpg

FIXTURES

Hibernian 1 (Handling 90+1)
Aberdeen 0

A very lucky win. Thought it was going to be a draw till Handling scored from a scramble after a corner

Hibernian 2 (Tudur-Jones 60 & 79)
Celtic 3 (Vela 12, Pukki 48, Morrison 64)

Sigh, will I ever beat them this season? Actually unlucky not to draw as we bombarded them for the final 10 minutes

Scottish Cup Semi Final

Aberdeen 0
Hibernian 1 (Collins 2)

Into the final after a true battle, we managed an early goal and it was end to end from there on, both defences having their best games.

Inverness CT 2 (Bennett 41, Warren 56)
Hibernian 3 (Handling 27, Tudur-Jones 77, Collins 90+1)

Another great comeback, another last minute win. We seem to be experts at getting goals in the final minute

SUMMARY

A good month bar the Celtic defeat, into the Scottish cup final, sadly we play Celtic so that doesn't bode too well

Season Ends

FIXTURES

Hibernian 1 (Handling 36)
Ross County 1 (Kettlewell pen 67)

Players seem to have that end of season disinterest. Barely any effort and we were lucky not to suffer a loss

Dundee United 0
Hibernian 2 (Stanton 3, Handling 46)

A good win against a difficult side. Youngsters definitely coming on leaps & bounds

Hibernian 1 (Hanlon 59)
Kilmarnock 1 (Boyd 21)

Not the ideal result I would've liked to end the season with but I'll take it

SCOTTISH CUP FINAL WILL BE IN NEXT POST

SUMMARY

League season is done. Celtic won, St. Mirren were relegated and Hearts have beaten Cowdenbeath in the play-offs to remain in the Premiership
