Pre Season Update

Well the summer has come and gone, the new season is now only a month away and we have Pre Season before that. I went to Rhodes in Greece for summer holiday as well as going back to the UK to spend time with family and friends. While in Rhodes I spent most of my time on the beach and by the pool but I did go to the water park and go on a boat trip to look at some caves and swim in the sea. I feel refreshed and raring to go ahead of pre season and feel confident that the new players we have got will take FC Vaslui to a new level. My summer wasn't all fun and games as I did make sure I kept in touch with the club as I informed the board of my transfer targets and left it up to them to get me the players that I wanted. We missed out on a few guys but got more than adequate replacements, the players have already reported back for pre season tranining and I intend on working them hard as I felt we lacked fitness last season and that could be the difference come the end of the new season as to wether we get into europe or not. I have arranged some massive pre season friendlys, I choose bit clubs as I want to see where we are in terms of where they are on the pitch and because the club could always do with the extra money that they will recive of these matches.

Summary of Pre Season
I am not bothered by the results, I used the pre season to play against some of the worlds elite sides and to rake in some big money off these games. Some small injurys but nothing to long term to note and on the whole I am pleased with the fitness of the players and their form as they are looking quick in tranining and good in the games. I was impressed by the new lads and I think they have settled in well with the current players and it won't be long until we are in full swing and really clicking and then watch out Romanian.

I am happy to announce that we have signed a young player who I have heard great things about and I believe he will develop here at FC Vaslui into one of europes best attacking midfielders. The player I am talking about is Jano Ananidze.

I have also been offered the chance to manage the Belgium U21's and have accepted, more about this in the August Update when we have our first match against Portugal U21's.

July Update

Well the new season is here and after a mixed pre season it should be interesting to see how we get on. I think its important we do well in our opening match as we face 3 extremly hard games in August and if the worst happens we could lose 4 matches in a row and that would make it all that much harder to qualify for Europe. I have been to a few new bars and resturants recently and went to watch Jason Derulo, he was awsome a really very good performance from him that left us all cheering him at the end. I have bought a new car as I fancied a change from my current ride, I have now got an Aston Martin DB9. My absolute dream car, all my life I have wanted one after seeing it on Top Gear back in the UK. I know there are faster and probably better cars but I just adore this car so it's the one I chose. The lads have been teasing me a bit lately as I have been working out alot more and if I might say so myself I'm in better shape then alot of them.

Summary of Month

An average start for us to the new season, its always nice to get points on the board early on and particulary ahead of the tough month we face in August. The work starts now as we will have to play out of our skins if we are to get a result in August as I'm sure that our oppoinents will play to their usual high standards. I was pleased with the performance we put in against Farul and how the new lads looked and fitted in the system we play. I felt that the goal we conceaded can be put down to lack of match practice and as soon as we rack a few games up the silly mistakes will become fewer and fewer.

August Update

An average start to the new season with the draw over Farul but now for me the season really starts with 3 massive games this month. I think we have a team which can achive something from these games and I don't expect to get beaten in all 3 matches. Things are great with Jess as we have been getting closer and closer, I even asked her to move in with me and she said yes. Who knows we may even get married in the near future things are going so well but I'm not in any rush. I went for a BBQ at Gerlems house the other day and met his family, they are all lovely people and they are really supportive of Gerlem, I believe this to be the reason why he is performing so well at the moment. The preparation for this months games has gone better than expected and we are ready and raring to go, we are prepared for anything that the 3 biggest teams in Romanian have to throw at us.

Summary of Month
I don't know what we are doing wrong, is it lack of matchc experience? is it lack of quality players? or is it just being unlucky? Whatever we do we just can't hold onto a lead and see a game out, we had 2 games this month won until we messed it up with silly mistakes, its so frustrating and I just hope we will learn from these mistakes and stop making them.

Player of the Month
Zsolt Torok, he put in some quality performances and I am getting lots of messages asking about his availablity and I keep rejecting them. He is going to be a stat if he keeps on progressing like he should, he will be an international player and should we sell him in the future we will make and absolute killing as we will recieve a huge transfer fee.

International Job
I have been offered the chance to be the manager of the Belgium U21's and I have accpeted this opportunity for a number of reasons. 1) I believe in giving young players a chance and they are Belgiums future, so it should be a challenge to create a quality young group of lads for Belgium so in the future Belgium will become a stronger team to face 2 ) It is an opportunity for me to manager a national team. 3) It is a great way to learn a new culture and language and visit another country.

Summary of Match
My first game in charge of Belgium U21's was against Portugal U21, one of Europes most impressive footballing nations. This was my first chance to have a look at the Belgium players and I am pleased to say that I like what I saw. We totally dominated the match and were cruzing until I made 11 changes to have a look at the rest of the squad. In my opinion we won that match and should have no problems qualifying for any international competitions as I think with Lukaku and Hazad we have too much quality for any other side.

DUE TO THE LACK OF COMMENTS I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT THERE IS A LACK OF INTEREST IN THIS STORY. SO I AM GOING TO HAVE A BREAK FROM THIS STORY AND WORK ON ANOTHER ONE. I WILL HOWEVER KEEP THIS SAVE AND PICK THIS STORY UP IN A FEW WEEKS. KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR MY NEW STORY AS ITS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER STORYS AND I THINK ITS AN INTERESTING STORY.

After a break from this story I have decided to continue it. Please leave your comments, good or bad I would like some feedback on the story. Thanks :)

September Update

After a decent month in August against Romania's top teams its important we back up our efforts last month by picking up at least 6 points from our 4 league games in September. With Belgium U21 we start our Euro U21 Championship Qualifying campaign with a tricky game against France U21 and Bulgaria U21, I think we can win at least one of those games and get some early points on the board in what will hopefuly be a successful group for us.
At home life is great, Jess has moved in and is starting to drop hints about marriage to me, I am playing dumb at the moment as I am extremely busy with both FC Vaslui and Belgium.
I bought a new 3D TV for my apartment as at the moment it seems everything is 3D, so I thought I should get up to speed with the times. The new signings I made in the summer have settled well and I believe its only a matter of time before we click and then watch out Romania.

Summary of Month
I would say that September has been no more than an average month for us, I think we have played some good and some shocking football. The lads can expect a hard month of trainning in October as our defending was rubbish, I haven't seen a worse display of defending then we put on against U Craiova in the 2nd half, we had that game won and threw it away, I just hope that the 2 points we dropped there don't prove to be the difference between a good season and a poor one. I think we did start to improve as the month went on and were unlucky not to get something out of the Astra 2009 game, we battered them and played them off the park, they just scored from a free kick. Looking forward to October and we have some big matches that we need to improve if we are to get anything out of them. With Belgium I am satisfied with how we played in our 2 games, I feel like we were close to beating France it was just some sloppy defending and some quality finishing that led to our defeat. However we put a good performance in against Bulgaria and deserved our win, hopefully we can now win our match against Montenegro in October as well as a friendly against Azerbaijan.

Player of the Month
Jano Ananidze, he scored and created goals for us this month, he put in 100% every game and it shows as he out performed any of our other players. Good work lad and keep it up.

October Update

This month is a massive test for us as a side as we haven't been playing very well and have some important games coming up, we need to improve both techinicaly and mentally. With Belgium I am looking to win both of our games in October and to continue to make strides towards winning our group and winning the competition. At home things are getting better and better with Jess, we are now engaged, however due to my busy schedule we are yet to put a date on the big day. Fred is still battling with his weight problem but the vet is pleased with his progress. My parents are coming to visit me soon so I am starting to think of some things to keep them busy while they are here, obviously including a trip to watch FC Vaslui play. I am looking for at least 6 points from October with FC Vaslui and to put a good performance in against Dinamo Buc in the Romanian Cup.

Summary of Month
A brilliant month for both FC Vaslui and Belgium, both teams played out of their skin and have given me hope that we can achieve something this season. With Belgium we destroyed both of our opposition, scoring freely and not conceading a goal which is always nice to see. FC Vaslui on the other hand were a totally differentt team to the one in September, they played as a team, actually defended and scored goals for fun. I am delighted with how October went for us, however is this strong month for us a sign that the team are gelling or was it just luck? To be honest at the moment I couldn't care less if we were playing 6 year olds or Barcelona! As long as we are winning football matches and the fans are happy with how we are performing then I am doing my job. The board are seeing a return on their fantastic investments in the summer, this can only be a good thing as they may invest more money into the squad to help me equip the sqaud for a push for Europe. Bring on November!

Player of the Month
Gerlem, this guy was amazing in Octobrer, in total he scored 6 goals and created a goal for FC Vaslui, on this form I would strongly suggest Brazil or Romanian have a look at him. If we are to continue this form then we need him to score more and more goals and continue to be the force that he is in Romanian.

Another Life Changing Decision To Make

FC Brasov have sacked their manager and the media have linked me as the favourite to get the job. What do I do? Continue with FC Vaslui or move to FC Brasov? They are in the Euro Cup, but FC Vaslui are in a position I believe to qualify for the Euro Cup. If I stay at FC Vaslui then I will most likely leave them in the summer should a bigger job offer come up, but if I move to FC Brasov then I will stay with them for a season or two, but what do I do if i move to them and come the end of the season that big club job offer come up? This is a massive decision to make as it could determine where I am for the next 2/3 seasons. Another Life Changing Decision

November Update

After a brilliant month for us in October which saw FC Vaslui score 10 goals in 5 games including a 4 - 0 thrashing of Gloria Bistrita. However we didn't have anything all out own way as we crashed out of the Romanian Cup with a 3-1 defeat to Dinamo Buc, overall though I am not to concearned with us losing in the cup as my main focus is on the leaguen and finishing in a European spot. With Belgium we won both our games against Montenegro and Azerbaijan, scoring 7 goals and not conceading, the star players performed brilliantly in both games and it showed as we put the ball in the back of the net on a regualar bases. Now looking forward to November and what will be a challenging month for FC Vaslui and Belgium, Vaslui have to play against CFR Cluj while Belgium have to play against France. In order for both teams to finish in a strong position in there respected competitions a win or a draw will be needed, not only because of the points but because of the confidence that getting a result against the best teams brings with it. On a personal note I am really enjoying managing Belgiums youngsters and some of the most gifted young footballers on the planet in Lukaku and Hazard. FC Vaslui is still work in progress in my opinion and we aren't going to be worldbeaters over night, it will take alot of hard work and patience on the fans and boards part. I believe we can achieve something quite special this season but only time will tell if what I think we can achieve is reality. While trying not to think to far ahead I am still thinking of my next move on my journey to the top of world management, November will bring some challenges that I will have to overcome and will have to make some tough decisons and maybe even some life changing ones. At home in my personal life things have been progressing nicely with Jess and Freds weight, if I'm being totally honest I have been so up to my ears in work that my personal life has taken a back seat. If it wasn't for my strong relationship with Jess and Freds inconditional love as I feed him then I could well be a single pringle at the moment as I get in from work at 9:00pm everyday and go straight to bed. Hopefully this is only a short term thing and when work does die down a bit then I can get back to my fantastic life and the people that I share it with. My parents came to stay with me in October and from what I saw of them they seemed to enjoy their trip, they got to know Jess very well and gave Fred the attention he so craves, honestly you would have thought he was unloved and starved the way he gets excited to see them! Anyway on with November and may the drama of being a football manager unfold........

Summary of Month
A decent month for both FC Vaslui and Belgium, the only result that didn't go according to plan was the defeat against France but all in all I am very pleased with how things are going. With FC Vaslui we scored goals for fun and our defence looked solid, some of the football we are playing is simply brilliant, at times I am starting to think this could be our season as the signings I have made have now settled and the team are playing with creative freedom and that can only be a good thing.

View attachment 103068

Player of the Month
Zsolt Torok, not only did he look solid in defence but he also got himself on the score sheet for us this month. He is still only young but has already become and important part of the team and its this form that is making some of Europes elite clubs come in for him, I only hope that he can see what we are trying to achieve here and he stays with us in January.

Other News
November was a busy for month for both me and FC Vaslui on and off the pitch as we have now entered the sacking part of the season and clubs are starting to get an idea of how their team is playing and if there is a need for change in manager. I have been linked with a couple of jobs that have taken me a long time to decide on what I should do, after taking everything into consideration I have decided to stay at FC Vaslui and continue the project and achieve what I have promised the board and the fans. The board have unveiled new Youth Trainning Facilities that I have to say are brilliant and will help the club progress in the long term and develop better young footballers. I also won manager of the month for October and was presented with my award at the start of the month.
