I've had serious concerns about this for some time. The rate at which pace goes up and down is, I feel, quite unrealistic. I would put pace in the same category as penalties, free kicks and corners. These stats don't seem to fluctuate much as its down to natural ability.
Some players are fast, some aren't. The most extreme example i've seen is Alexey Rudenok, he starts the game with pace of 13, and he eventually develops to have a pace of 19. We're talking someone going from the pace of Dirk Kuyt to the pace of Walcott. When Walcott was 17, he was as fast as Walcott, not as fast as Kuyt.
This happens with youngsters as well. I've yet to see a regen of mine with a pace of 10+. Are all my youngsters as slow as Mertesacker? The U18 games must be like a game of tortoise's!
Was Walcott slow when he was a teenager? Was Owen? Was Messi?
I see the same when players reach their 30's. Sure, their stats will decline, you can't argue that. But I had a forward whose pace was 18 at the age of 32, by 33 he had a pace of 13. This seems too drastic to me, you still get the likes of Drogba, Bellamy showing you can actually run when you're in your 30's.
Is this something other people feel or is it just nitpicking?
