Check out mount and blade - dirt cheap not the best graphics but it is so addictive and fun to play
 
Minecraft, CoD4, L4D2, and maybe some GTA games with mods <3

Hearts of Iron 3 may be? But that is hardcore. It made my mind explode when I tried to get into it.

If you do get Rome get Europa Barbarorum. It is probably the best realism mod for it, and one of the best mod I have ever played for any game.

Or if you get Medieval 2 + Kingdoms, get Third Age: Total War. Even if you aren't a LOTR fan. It is that good.
 
Red Orchestra 2, Heroes of Stalingrad, which is coming out in a couple months.

Otherwise Red Orchestra +Darkest Hour mod = not best graphics but super incredible gameplay
