Perfect 4-1-2-2-1 My Last Hurrah

Steam Community :: Screenshot

Were facing the team that before the game was in lead, with only 4 goals conceded in 7 games. Ofc, their goal was a corner. It seems like every goal from corners are coming from the first post..

For me, the original tactic is working much better even at home. Withput the attacking tweaks.

Oh, won the game against Celtic (1-2).

Not even half way thru first season...

The tactic is getting better and better, with a 1-2 win over Celtic at Celtic park in the League Cup as the greatest achievement so far.

After the 6-4 game vs Raith (marked) were i started to use def. set pieces as match training, i havent lost a point.

Six conceded goals in 13 matches. Pretty impressive

Hard tackle and weaker foot for all strikers, wingers and attacking mids. Do NOT use tight marking or closing down OI's as you will ruin the tactic.
Hey... How sure are you about the not using closing down and tight marking OIs? I use your original tactic, with a few minor tweaks to suit which ever team i am and i use closing down and tight marking OIs with a fair bit of success....

If your massively overachieving then that's great, but extensive testing showed much better results without OI's that ruin the team shape. I'd say just use what works best for you.

I'm intrigued... I'll try a few games without the OI's and see how it pans out

hey Bobby what would your strategy be tactic wise if you're playing on neutral grounds?

Good question, I usually go by the match odds, but also consider recent form and even whose name comes first in the tie(Me v AI or AI v Me).
Hope that helps.

Great tactic mate! It works very well in all leagues. I've been using it in my English Hero achievement save, and my squad absolutely obliterated Conference North and the Conference. In my 2nd season, I was tipped to go down, but won the league with 7 matches remaining. Currently in League 2, was tipped for relegation again, but currently in the midst of a tight title chase halfway through the season. No OIs used.

One issue I do see is that I tend to concede a lot of goals when I am up by 2 or 3 by half. However, could be due to the mentality of my squad, seeing as they are barely full-time players. The tactic is overall very defensively sound and aggressive as well. It also has some beautiful football. Lots of goals off of set pieces (corners especially) too.

Oh man... was 2-1 up on Liverpool in the FA cup 4th round (I'm still in League 2!) before Suso and Glen Johnson scores in the 87th and 88th minutes to put Liverpool through.... Heartbreaker. Good fight from my boys though!!

If i'm a goal up in a tight game with only a few minutes left I usually change to defensive/structured, but this is more psychological than anything else, it may/may not help. Personally i'm about to stop playing as I cannot usually take the game any further without this kind of thing being the only cause of defeats...............

. I can tell by certain passages of play when its going to happen and it simply becomes gamebreaking. I'm only in season 2 with Burnley so any long term saves are just not worth it. Of course this doesn't happen in every save, the tactic(s) have been tested over many seasons(and many FM's) I believe its just like the injury thing, sometimes you get a sh*tload of injuries whilst other times you don't get any from one month to the next. I think its put on there to randomise the game and to stop it becoming too easy, but to do it in this fashion is beyond pathetic imo.

I know, I just think it'd be nice to win one of these when the boot is on the other foot. I have just qualified for the knockout stages of the CL though with this performance..............

Just completed a test using your tactic, ChristianEriksens and 424. I didn't choose Follia out of personal choice as I want to find consistency and as strong a defense as possible

The method was to play the first competitive games of the season twice over and then play the first 3 games 3 times each. this included a euro cup team (weak opponent), southampton (average), swansea (average), crystal palace (weak), man utd (strong). I was playing as Tottenham. I played on FMC, instant result and quick picked every team...the results were as follows;

CE: points 44...goals 50...against 21...difference 29

424: points 51...goals 64...against 24...difference 40

Perfect: points 48...goals 53...against 14...difference 39

The results between yours and 424 were actually very close and I'd say the stronger defense shows more consistency. 424 beat man utd 8-5 and also lost against man utd 6-1 haha that was out of two games!!! I personally prefer 433 variants and so prefer your tactic :)

gonna play the same 3 tactics against man utd 3 times each

haha This was very confusing. I saved the game at the Man Utd (A) game and so all tactics played the exact same game with Spurs top of the league after 4 games and morale high. Each tactic got spanked and they all lost fairly consistently haha not sure what happened here;

CE: 3-0 L, 3-0 L, 0-1 W

Perfect: 3-0 L, 3-1 L, 0-0

424: 2-2, 4-1 L, 3-1 L

Hi,

I had to post my 1st season results with Liverpool using this 4-1-2-2-1 tactic. I have played the football Manager games for a long time and have not come across such a consistent tactic. Below are my season fixtures and my finishing position in the League.

I had made a number of changes to the squad hence the poor start against Swansea where the players were still getting to grip with the tactics.

I also won the champion League and the FA Cup.

I used the tactics as specified in the posts. The only differences I made was my away tactic was always set to counter unless I was playing a smaller team where I would then apply the home tactic.

Thanks for the tactic.

can anyone upload the Home and Away tactics im having trouble downloading them from the opening post :(

Has anyone used this tactic after the latest patch? Is it still as good as before the patch, or do it need some changes to make it work?

I've been using this tactic up to and including the latest patch with remarkable results. I started off with Luton gaining successive promotions to Premier League. I was then offered and took the Celtic job (my team) in my first 2 seasons won 5 out of 6 trophies. Admittedly this shouldn't be overly impressive but in my first season with Celtic I reached the Champions League knockout stages, losing in 1st round to FC Bayern on away goals. In the second season I reached the Champions League Final defeating Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona in the knockout rounds before losing to Porto in the final (I really, really hate Porto). Great tactic.
