I'm worried about this game

I'm sick of getting burnt on the last few pes

but the teammate control looks like it could bring some joy back

...but...I'm afraid it simply isn't enough

PES 2012: Two Demos Announced

KONAMI offers early taste of PES 2012 for fans

Konami DigitalEntertainment GmbH has announced it will release TWO playable demos for its eagerly awaited PES 2012 title. The demos will be available free for PlayStation®3, Xbox 360® and Windows PC, and will give PES fans a chance to experience the game early in its development cycle and prior to release.

The first demo will be released on August 24th and will be based on a preview build of the game. While there will be areas that are refined, KONAMI wants PES users to try out the game’s many new Teammate Control elements prior to launch and experience the realism that Active AI brings to PES 2012, and which have been singled out for extensive praise by the media. The demo will also showcase the individuality of the many teams in the game, and users will be able to pick from six teams and their playing styles – Manchester United, AC Milan, FC Porto, S.S.C Napoli, Santos FC, and C.A. Panarol – and pit them against each other in 10-minute matches. The demo will also showcase key Challenge Training elements, where fans can practice the new control systems to fully enjoy the game.

The first PES 2012 demo will not be truly representative of the final game, so KONAMI will issue a second free demo reflecting the final version’s feel and gameplay in mid-September for the same formats. This will also offer 10-minute matches, but with a different team roster of Tottenham Hotspur, FC Bayern Munich, FC Internazionale Milano, Rangers FC, Club America and Sport Club Internacional.

“We have spoken a lot about the new additions to PES 2012, and now we want users to see it for themselves,” explained Jon Murphy, European PES Team Leader. “By releasing a demo for preview purposes, we want people to get in early to try out the Teammate Control elements and to see for themselves how the Active AI works. This will then be followed by a second demo that offers different teams, and a closer approximation of what the final game will play like. We truly value the support and input of our user base – and these demos are so they can see how their help has aided the most ambitious PES to date.”

I will download the demo in hope that Pes is returning to it's former glory.

Downloading!

Btw, are you sure it's the demo? It's not supposed to be released until the 24th and I haven't seen anyone posting the link to this "demo" download

Yes, 100% sure.

It's not posted anywhere because it's not supposed to be out yet.

i juts played the demo. and playing style is great. and its pretty direct at times. AI has improved too, vastly changed from pes 11

I've played a few games now and have to admit it's actually awesome. Passing, dribbling, defending, and the AI all seem pretty spot on. The shooting and the goalkeepers are a bit iffy but from what I've heard this code is rather old and things have already been improved.

Just had an awesome match with Santos and Penarol that finished 3-2. Scoring myself a freekick, a penalty, and a screamer.

Ignore how crappy it looks, graphics are turned down as low as possible. Otherwise my 6 year old PC would die.

I manned up and decided to play on Top Player and I discovered I'm awesome, only lost the once and that was 4-3 against Santos. **** Neymar, he's too awesome. Really loving Pacheco and Estoyanoff for Penarol though.

Meh, it's okay. Can't get the off the ball runs to work right. I used right stick direction to "select" player but it never selects them. So I always ended up just pressing on right stick and hoping anyone made a run.

The game is more fluid and passing is good...

but the infamous scripting is still VERY much present.

2 matches I played....1st was AC Milan (me) vs Napoli. Score was 2-2 and we were in stoppage time. I got into the box and was barely fouled (would never have been called on pes9/10/11) So I get a penalty on 90+3 and score. 3-2...the other team only has time to make one pass off kickoff before the whistle.

2nd was Santos (me) vs Penarol (spelling) was 0-0 until stoppage time. All of a sudden Pen went batshit and kept the ball in my box for the last 5 minutes and scored off a deflection after taking about 8 consecutive shots on goal. The instant I restarted play the whistle blew...

The game feels fun, but that **** is what turned me off to the last couple PES's...Master League Online is not worth playing with the scripting (Even when I score fluke goals in stoppage...so lame) Even though this is an "early" build, I highly doubt they fixed what I believe Konami call "momentum"

Were you trying to do the manual off the ball? Because you can only use manual or auto, not both. There's a bit in the training mode to do with the off the ball controls, might be worth giving that a go.

Personally I haven't witnessed any of the momentum, well none that has gone against me anyway. It's harder to recognise it when it goes in your favour. I'm not sure what the official word is on momentum in PES 2012, but for me every goal that I've conceded hasn't felt like there was nothing I could of done to prevent it.

Not sure why you've put early in quotations. It's the same code that was used at Gamescom, which was wasn't even as updated as the preview code which the testers got before Gamescom.

I put it in quotation to highlight it. Some people may not be aware that there are going to be two demos.

As for player runs, I did the training before I played any games, but it was still kind of hard. I don't even know how to change between manual and auto; I think this is something I'd just need some time and practice with.

As for the scripting, the 4 goals in the Milan vs Naples that came in the middle of the game were all legit and felt right. But scripting or momentum only really takes shape at the very end of the game. In both games I've played (I know it's a small sample) both winning goals have came off flukes late late late in stoppage time. I've seen this type of thing in previous versions, and even diehard PES fans (I'd say I'm diehard as well) have acknowledged this.

I may play some more later...just hate sitting through the intro

On the select sides screen, press Square (X I think it is on the Xbox controller) and it will bring up your options where you can change how much assistance you want with your passing, I like it set to just 1 bar, semi-assisted player switching etc., and on the controls screen you can change the auto/manual for off the ball.

You have to do it before every match sadly, it doesn't remember your settings between matches which is rather annoying.

Alt + Enter --> Put it in windowed mode and just do something else for 5 minutes.

*edit* To skip the intro in PES 2012 demo delete pes12pv and pes12ci file from the folder /img .
