After a very poor career from the Half-Italian, Scotsman who was sent to America it's time to really spice it up with innocent youngster Jeremy Gotaga. The Frenchman fell in love with football at a very young age and was in pure awe at the greatness of Thierry Henry at Arsenal.

He was picked up by local club Strasbourg at a young age, Gotaga played with his school team and scored a massive 19 goals in 8 games in the Alsace Regional School League and was invited to play with Strasbourg and has been mentioned in National papers and had a feature on BT Sport.

This is the story of the Left Foot From Alsace and his journey to the top.

Played with the numbers a little bit, really would be cool if young Gotaga could make it to Arsenal and replicate some of Thierry Henry's achievements. We shall see however, he may flop like Mr Calum James!

Here's hoping you can stay as injury free as possible!!!!!

The Beginning

Things were going pretty good at Strasbourg Alsace as the manager took a real liking to me and involved me in first team training and games. I was getting so many firsts! From my first goal, red and injury..

We are doing alright in the league too, which is great. Hopefully things can keep going and I can get away from injuries.

All good so far! Had more features on French television and in a few world-renowned magazines!

Injuries plague careers and my first season has been absolutely stupid with it!

It's March and my season is already over.

I was regularly featuring with the first team and it's a shame that I can't see the season out. It also meant missing out on some big exams with school for National Qualifications as the injury fell very close to the day of the examination. Meaning, that really I need football or spend extra years working back what I missed this past year at school.

Played behind the striker the majority of the time and ultimately would prefer to play right up top but I am not going to complain!

Been tough.

It took me a long time to decide but ultimately En Avant de Guingamp are interested in me and I am a big fan of Claude Michell and he still works with the club so I am going to hold out for their interest to develop into an offer.

Promising Striker, Gotaga, signs for Bordeaux!

Strasbourg Alsace striker, Jeremy Gotaga, has had a lot of teams chasing his signature and today Bordeaux claimed it for a small compensation fee of £18,000. Gotaga had turned down several clubs, saying he had to pay homage to the club on the Swiss border but the £75,000 per annum contract and the opportunity to work under Javier Aguirre was seemingly too much.

Gotaga told the Bordeaux fanzine that he was "excited to be at such a big club" and "he's been given an opportunity and it's now down to me to prove what I can do".

That's right! I am at Bordeaux. Here's how things are going..

Here's that decent contract

Progress has been a little choppy with injuries however.

SEASON 1 WITH BORDEAUX

My first season at Bordeaux came to an end, I didn't touch the league but developed well as we won promotion.

I did develop a lot and I am thankful for that.

and continued to feature in the prestigious French Cup.

However, with promotion I wasn't in the new managers plans as of yet and he opted to loan me out to Ligue 2 side USBCO. Which should mean game time as I push for a real reputation. Injuries have halted me so far and seemingly this may continue.

Season Away on Loan

It didn't go too badly on a personal level, I played a lot bar the 5 or so weeks where I missed games through injury. However, it wasn't the best season for the club as they dropped on the final day despite me scoring late on for the draw.

I enjoyed playing though, I justified the £2,000 they paid me per week with solid performances. Just a shame we couldn't keep the club afloat.

Average but I am happy with how I did with the players I had around me. I played behind the striker the majority of the season. Now to chill for 4 weeks before I go back to Bordeaux to find out their plans for me next season. They are constantly going through new managers, so I may easily turn into the kid that just gets loaned out forever.

Ligue 2 Awaits Gotaga Again

Jeremy Gotaga was greeted with two different types of news this morning as players reported back to the club. Firstly, he was presented with a new £208,000 per year contract, more than double his previous salary. He was then told he was to spend a season in Ligue 2 once again as he works on his trade.

Gotaga told The French National that he "looks forward to another year of football" and that "he really hopes" that he can push on and become a real force. He is also excited at the possible chance of promotion after a strong season one year prior for the club.

Wow mate - Jeremy seems to be coming along a lot quicker than Calum. Those loan moves look like they've worked wonders!! Hope to see him featuring for Bordeaux soon!

Valenciennes FC Loan Spell

I enjoyed my time in Valenciennes as a City just as much as I enjoyed my time on the park. It's a beautiful place, like much of France and I couldn't get over the Stadium either. It was a joy to play at, especially when fans would fill the Stadium. Which wasn't rare due to Valenciennes' ticket prices.

Unfortunately we didn't secure promotion after 2 different times we went on a tragic run of form, especially early on when I experienced a bit of a drought in front of goal. Outside of that drought, however, I had a very solid opening half to the season as a Striker but slowed up in front of goal when brought into a deeper role to impact the team with my creativity.

I managed to come joint-3rd in the Goalscorers for the season and this meant a mention and bronze trophy at the end of season Ligue 2 awards.

I really kept up with Garita until he exploded come February to carry La Berrichonne miraculously out of the bottom 3. It was great to get the recognition however, as Bordeaux Director of Football Alain Deveseleer gave me a special call to congratulate me and he really hopes I find my way into the plans of whoever replaces Pablo Correa, the 4th manager in as many years. Bordeaux were setting up for Ligue 1 again after coming out on top of the relegation dog-fight.

I am hopeful that my Ligue 2 performances look good to the next manager and I can force my way past the likes of Diego Rolan and Isaac Kiese Thelin for the spot as a Striker next season.

Kiese Thelin is one of my players at Malmo!! :p
You're making good progress, keep it up!

Calum was abysmal! Hoping to feature in Ligue 1 soon. Feel Jeremy is definitely good enough and can clearly score goals!

How old was he at the end of the Valenciennes spell? He looks like he could be potentially a future Ballon D'or contender!

The Summer of 2018

It was a big couple of months for me as I was picked in the Under 19 French squad for the 2018 Euro Championships. It was expected after my Ligue 2 season and it was a big tournament as it was all LIVE on EuroSport, with highlights on BT Sport. It gave me a real chance to show myself off to those watching from around the world.

We were off to Finland for it, and we were one of the teams who should have been performing well. We were given the easier of the two groups and lost our opening game to the Czech Republic, I performed very average and snatched at my chances. This mean we really had to win our last 2 games against Greece and the hosts, Finland.

We beat Greece 2-0 with ease, I scored as we advanced to face a Finland squad who had to win to get second. We just needed to draw. They were very cautious and this allowed our sheer pace and power to overwhelm them. We walked through the game, with myself picking up a second goal in as many games.

England and Italy were outdone by a strong Switzerland showing. Unfortunately we didn't get our predicted top place finish and this meant having to play Germany. This was no bother though, we completely showed up and early goals from myself and Herbert made it easy as we left as 4-0 winners.

Czech Republic also advanced, they were the only team to score and beat us so far but we were so confident going into the tie.

I scored a HUGE double as we won 3-0. Winning the Under 19 Euro Championship.

My performance and effort did not go unnoticed as I had features on Sky Sports FR, Sky Sports, BT Sport and I was plastered all over French newspapers for my performance in the final.

This puts me in great stead for what will hopefully be a huge year once again out on loan to recently-relegated AJ Auxerre.

Dang - what an update!! Congrats on a great tournament. The time at Auxerre should be good too - don't they have really good facilities? Should be good for your development.
