Also, Portugal has the only club to produce 2 players that won the FIFA Player of the Year award : Sporting CP. Sporting's budget is about 10% of Manchester United's, or maybe even less. And yet, the last few times those teams met, the difference on the pitch wasnt as much as it was on the budget.

Then there is the social matter here in Portugal. During the dictatorship, Benfica was used as a unifying element for the populace, which ****** all the local clubs, causing this "big 3" problem. In england, its much more balanced because every city/region has the support of their locals, whereas here in portugal, people dont care for their local club.

Most people in Leiria are sporting cp supporters, for example. this makes no sense, since there is a first division club from leiria.
Many other examples could be given.

Uahah yes, our league sucks, what can not be said about our football. No reasons needed to point out, it's all said. And done

Out of interest guys, who is better, Hulk or falcao?

You can compare Hulk to Nani. He is the offensive playmaker and scores pretty often with long range shots or very good goals. Falcao, a bit kinda Berbetov, is a natural striker. Scores easily either with his head or feet.
They're both quality players, but I prefer Hulk

whats the miliennium cup is that like the carling cup?

Wow, I have been abroad and missed a lot of European news this season so I didn't know about the Moutinho transfer until just now when I read it in the OP...can someone explain WTF happened? How did the club's talisman get sold to their rival? For only 10 million? And why didn't he go somewhere outside of Portugal, he's quality.

I have a post on that on the first page. I think it is the 2nd post.

Millenium Cup is the Portuguese cup. It is called Millenium for sponsorship reasons. It is the same as the FA Cup. Every team in Portugal participate.

Bwin Cup is the League cup. It is called Bwin for sponsorship reasons. It is the same as the Carling Cup. All the 1st league and some of the 2nd participate.

I have this theory that Sporting and Porto, even supposedly being major rivals, keep cooperating between each other. The funny thing is that Porto is the one who decides what happens. Whatever Porto says, Sporting does. They are not true rivals. Their true rivals are Benfica, for both the clubs. They do all they can to stop us. And that's how they got Moutinho for 10M.

Fabulous strike! No wonder I stop playing FM with a current team when I buy Hulk - goals just start flooding... Cardozo is also fabolous... There are many many great players in the league and when I used to bet - I was pretty much following. Now not so much, but still try to buy Hulk, Cardozo, Cristian Rodriguez, Moutinho, Luisao, Sidnei even Veloso, who is no longer there... :)

As witness of similar stuff in Bulgaria - I would say it is possible, but still can't believe that in such country things like that are possible.
Moutinho was one of the main reasons to be Sporting supporter, but since I read the official version of the story I stopped supporting "The Lions"...

Nevermind...

Sorry for the offtopic!

Some very nice goals tonight, it seems. Cardozo's were also brilliant.

In my FM 10 Sporting CP save Hulk became the best striker in the game but wouldn't leave Porto for some reason (I don't think any clubs made offers for him either). He had an average rating of 8.5ish every year and would average a goal a game. Made beating Porto **** near impossible, I only took one league title (lost one on goal differential, another one by one point, thanks to a last minute Hulk strike, another by two points, also because of Hulk beating us when we played them).

It's an interesting theory about Porto/Sporting, but aren't Sporting trying to challenge the title? Or do they just assume that they won't win it and that they might as well give it to Porto? What is the 'official story' BTW?
