MILLENIUM CUP
QUARTER-FINAL

Rio Ave 0-2 Benfica

NOTE: Porto will play tonight in a game for Liga ZON Sagres' 20th fixture. However, in order not to confuse anyone, that game will only enter in the thread's tables when all the other clubs play the 20th fixture. The same will happen everytime there is a game like this. Needless to say, the goal scorers in those games won't appear aswell until the 20th fixture is played by the rest of the league.

Jardel can be a good player, loving to see Benfica investing on our own league. Sidnei, always loved him, hella sure he will be great, as long as I stop seeing him in the mall past midnight.

As for our last game, we won rightfully, even tho we were robbed (Coentrão's sending off is just shameful), but it's mmmmmkay, been there, done that, every year the same. Now, I wonder how will this result affect Porto's season, as the Supertaça affected ours. Hulk, the incredible, is not that much incredible against us huh? Only scored in the infamous 5-0.

PAULO SERGIO RESIGNS

show_image_402.php

Jose Couceiro (left) and Paulo Sergio (right), respectively current and
former Sporting Lisbon managers

Paulo Sergio left Sporting CP today, due to the poor results the team has been having which have resulted in the elimination of the club in Europa League, Portuguese Cup and the 15 points disadvantage from the 2nd placed Benfica, eternal rival of the club. Jose Couceiro, former Porto, Lithuania, FBK Kaunas coach and until today Sporting's director for football will take over Sergio's place until the end of the season, or until a solution is found.

Saw Sergio leaving a long way away. Wierd indictment on the Portuguese leagues that a club can be 15 points adrift of second and still be third though.

Deslandes you made a mistake, P.Ferreira are in the 4th place instead of Guimaraes.

Deslandes you made a mistake, P.Ferreira are in the 4th place instead of Guimaraes.

The tables are only updated at the end of the fixture. In this case, the table will only be uodated after tonight's game. The OP table hasn't been updated for 2 weeks because I didn't manage to do that in the week after the 20th fixture and so I will update it tonight (after the game).

Lucky, nah, did you see the game, the result is nothing more than fair. Marcelo Boeck did many, and I mean many, quality saves, maritimo only attacked on counter and scored on a lucky corner, benfica thoroughly deserved their late win.

Benfica got so lucky, unbelievable.

P.Ferreira puts their bets on youth, specially Portuguese youth, such as Nelson oliveira, david simao, caetano, pizzi and others, I think their example should be followed by many teams in our league, we really need it.

This has taught me more about Portuguese football than I ever knew :)
