20 years experience in the series...still **** haha

I spend alot of my time playing this game, creating tactics that are very continental and stylish, i admit they dont always work so occasionally i will download a tactic of this site and tweak it to suit my own squad (which you must do, unless the tactic is used by the creator on an identical team).

So anyway, i might not be the only person on this site whom when taking over a struggling club insert the tactics immediately and expect results because they have a good squad who are under performing, and 9/10 this fails miserably (im not saying it will for everyone, maybe just those who are not pure tacticians).

Thus, i started new save and took over PSG and won pretty much everything to start me off (using a mixture of my own tactics and Jassar's respectively)
so once i done that i then started taking over big clubs who were under performing and testing the best way to bring them back to the big time.

I took over Liverpool, Man utd, man city and Newcastle from the premiership all teams were sitting in the bottom half of the table. when i took over i imposed the lavish and stylish tactics and tweaked them to suit the squad, but my results were inconsistent. so i thought what if the best idea was to go back to basics and build the team back up getting the mentality and morale up first.
so i went back to basics and designed a 442 nothing out the ordinary and your typical balanced/average training with def pos away from home and att at home, and the results came!, the football was stable and positive and all the clubs i mentioned above i went on massive win streaks, when the morale in the squad was superb i then started to tweak tactics and imput the more lavish tactics into easier games and i used this process on all the clubs and i was back in the big time winning trophies and champions league football.

so i suppose what im trying to say is, build from basic, dont try and become jose mourinho overnight. start with 442. and the results will come!

wish i could post my results but i started a new game, and then decided to post on here.

Good to hear you got results with your own tactic. That to me is where the fun lies with the game. I share my work to help others out but playing around with your own tactic until you managed something that works for your team is where the most fun lies for me, diving into the details. Especially back when we still had sliders, where you would watch 3-4 full games seeing what the difference was when I set a player's mentality to 3 or 4

I can't tell you how many tactics I've downloaded to see what they did, how they worked and how I could implement(read: Steal) that into my own tactics.

Like you said, Morale makes all the difference in the world once that is up you can start tweaking and you'll be relatively safe to adapt for homes games and weaker teams.

My tip would be: FM 2014 requires much more understanding of the ME that you will notice the results go down if you don't properly manage your players or set the formation up in a less than ideal way. (this is less in FMC obviously) but there are so many great guides out there. Take 30 minutes to read some and learn from others. I

t makes the game much more fun when you have devised something yourself which works.

Same here, didn't realised I have already played 20 years of CM/FM.

Agree with Shyftyy, the most enjoyable part of the game is creating a tactic that work.

I always start off by re-starting saves.
- Create a tactic, play a few games
- re-start save, create a different tactics, play a few games
takes a few restart to finally confirm my tactics, after that I will start a proper save.
Got sack? I just restart another save... :)

Its not perfect but at least I got the team playing the style I want. More variables to change for this FM14, which makes it more fun, at the same time more frustrating. I have downloaded tactics but same as Shyftyy, try to implement into mine.

My formations are quite standard
41DM221 / 42DM121 / 42DM31

And I try not to give too much team instructions. My player instructions are typically short passing, shoot less.
