Profit making challenge

You've done a great job at spurs, espec with all the constraints you out on yourself, would be interesting to see you carry this on with another team, someone like stoke? West brom? Sunderland? Newcastle?

Thanks mate, thinking of trying somewhere abroad! But the story will defo continue.

Glenn Hoddle has expressed his desire to take over the vacant Dortmund job.

Dortmund sacked Paulo Sousa at the end of the season following a poor run in the league where the 2012 league champions finished a disappointing 6th and therefore missed out on the Champions League.

Sousa had been in charge for less than a year after taking over from fan favorite Jurgen Klopp who left to take over the national team.

It is not yet known whether Dortmund would be interested in Hoddle but with the success he's had recently he wont be short of offers.

View attachment 278890

View attachment 278889

Valencia also seem interest in Hoddle's services by offering him an interview. Valencia just missed out on the Champions League last season by finishing 5th.

Valencia would be a decent choice but their squad is pretty poor. Their best players seem to be, Etienne Capoue (who couldn't get into our Tottenham side), Deigo Alves and Alvaro Negredo.

View attachment 278885

Dortmund also offer Hoddle an interview. Dortmund would be an ideal challenge after they suffered a poor season but still have a great set of players capable of a top 4 finish.

View attachment 278884

Meanwhile, Arsenal waived goodbye to manager Slavan Bilic after a poor season in which Arsenal finished a disappointing 6th place.

View attachment 278888

Wouldn't that be controversial, if i jumped ship from Tottenham to Arsenal.

I couldn't do that to the Spurs fans ... could I? ...

Id go for valencia, rebuild the club and make them a mjaor force just like at spurs.

View attachment 278883

After a number of interviews, Dortmund are the first team to show a real interest by offering me the managers job.

View attachment 278882

This was an offer I really couldn't turn down! I had interest from both Valencia and Arsenal but I feel Dortmund is the best option. I'd struggle to challenge for anything at Valencia with such a poor squad and the move to Arsenal would just be too much for the Tottenham fans to handle!!

DORTMUND APPOINT HODDLE AS MANAGER:

View attachment 278878

View attachment 278880

View attachment 278875

Dortmund had a poor season, finishing 6th, 17 points behind eventually winners and arch rivals, Bayern Munich! They also finished 6 points behind BMG who occupied the final Champions League spot.

The one positive Dortmund and can take from this season is their qualification for the Europa League.

View attachment 278864View attachment 278865

The first thing i notice about the Squad, is that the average wage is well over the budget i used at Tottenham. Using the same rules as I did at Spurs, i'd have to sell 18 players who all earn more than £50k per week. There's also 6 players on either £70k or more! Therefore, using the same rules as before here would be pretty much impossible. So the new guidelines are as below:

Maximum wage of £75k per week with 3 players allowed to earn between £75k and £100k per week.

I will still have to make profit each season and will look to buy young home grown players who are not yet superstars.

Marco Reus looks to be the stand out player then, however, i won't be able to keep him as his current contract see's him earn £150k per week which is totally unworkable. At least he'll bring in a decent transfer fee.

View attachment 278859

Im really excited to work with the young Brazilian, Gabriel Barbosa who looks a great player and will act as one of the 3 extra players I'm allowed.

View attachment 278858

I'll update transfers etc in my next post!

Life at Dortmund starts here . . . .

Id go for valencia, rebuild the club and make them a mjaor force just like at spurs.

Thanks for the advice mate, i just couldn't turn down Dortmund. The Valencia squad was so poor and so old, it would be very difficult to challenge for the league anytime soon.

I understand pal, atleast you didnt throw away all your hard work and end up at arsenal,
good luck at dortmund, lets hope you bring them as much sucess as spurs, if not more!

Looking forward to seeing how you get on at Dortmund

First job as Dortmund manager then is to assess the squad and where they'll fit into the system I used Spurs,

View attachment 277748

As you can see, we already have a pretty strong squad which will be able to challenge the top 4 without a single addition.

My main worry is the left wing situation with Marco Reus the only current option there and it looks as though he'll have to be sold due to his wage demands.

We have a couple of options though:

View attachment 277744

View attachment 277743

View attachment 277742

View attachment 277740

View attachment 277738

Although all 4 of these would be good additions, the transfer fee's and wages combined just aren't justified. Schurrle demanded £100k per week and would need a transfer fee of £18.5 million. Gauld would be my favourite option but spending nearly £40 million on a 21 year old just isn't going to happen, Bayern are also sniffing about and will no doubt offer him silly money which we just can't match.

It looks like the search will have to go on.

The other area i really need to strengthen is the depth of the squad, particularly in defence. The previous management team decided to sell Mats Hummels for £40 million to Real Madrid the previous season which only really leaves us with, Sokratis and last years signing, Robin Knoche. Knoche signed from Wolfsburg for £8 million and had a decent season last year so he'll be number one choice. Sokratis too had a good year and is a decent option but I'll definitely need to add numbers for this position.

DORTMUND OFFER FOR VERMAELEN!

View attachment 277736

After offering for a couple of differenct options, i decided that Thomas Vermaelen was the best option. He's a player who can play a couple of different positions and is happy being used a rotation behind Sokratis and Knoche.
At only £2.1 million i couldn't not buy him. I looked to take Phil Jones from Tottenham but his £24million buy out clause proved to be too much.

This should now have sorted the center back position.

JUVENTUS OFFER £60 MILLION FOR MARCO REUS

View attachment 277732

So , Reus went straight onto the transfer market after being well outside by rules with his wage demands. It wasn't even worth me offering him a contract as I'd just be wasting my time.

After negotiating for days with Italian giants, Juventus, I'm pretty pleased to be able to bring in such a huge transfer fee. This does however really put the pressure on to find a decent replacement.

View attachment 277731

With Juventus's offer of £60 million for Reus, i decided to start to spending a little. For me, this is a huge transfer and one that has to work! £15million is the joint highest transfer fee I've ever paid in this story (joint with James Ward-Prowse while managing Tottenham) so Pastore certainly has pressure coming to the Westfalenstadion.

Pastore found himself on the transfer list after a fall out with the management team at PSG who forced him to train with the reserve squad. Pastore has undoubted quality but his temperament has been questioned with this latest fall out at PSG.

Pastore should fill some of the void left by Marco Reus, although its debatable whether left wing is his best position or whether he prefers to play behind the striker. Either way, he'll be a class addition.

Just after agreeing the 2 first additions to the squad, we had a departure of a true fan favourite.
VILLARREAL CONFIRM BLASZCZYKOWSKI DEAL

View attachment 277726

It was a shame to lose Jakub but he was on £57k a week and behind in the pecking order. I would have kept him but he wanted to leave and i didn't want an unhappy player in the squad all season.

3 days later, and the big transfer finally happened:

JUVENTUS CONFIRM RUES CAPTURE:

View attachment 277733

I'm disappointing at this but I didn't have an option with the restrictions I've put on myself, I've no doubt he'll be a huge success and win Serie A title and Serie A title while at Juve.

Just as Reus was about to leave, we had another big decision to make:

View attachment 277723

The English Champions offering in excess of £30 million for the influential midfield man, Ilkay Gundogen. I'm really reluctant to sell any other star players this season, with the team having a poor season last year it's important i improve the squad, not weaken it.

We rejected this offer and then heard fighting talk from Man Utd manager, Joachim Low:

View attachment 277722

When Man Utd come out and say something like that it normally means you're going to lose the battle. I've no doubt they'll make another offer and try and turn his head. They'll no doubt double his current wages of £67k per week which we just can't match.

Watch this space . . .

Next up was the first home grown player to be recruited in this window.

View attachment 277721

Sebastian Rudy signs from Hoffenheim for £5.5 million which could rise to £6million. This transfer also included a part exchange which saw Matthias Ginter move in the opposite direction.
My coach report has only given Rudy 2.5 stars although the scout reports were much more glowing. He had other interest from Schalke and Leverkusen so he can't be that bad.

Its a toss up whether he'll fight for a central midfield starting place or whether I'll throw him in at right back. He looks equally strong in both positions.

3 DEPART WESTFALENSTADION

In the space of 3 days, Moritz Leitner joined Freiburg, Marko Petkovic joined Bremen and Milos Jojic joined AC Milan. This brought into the club a total of £10 million with Jojic being the biggest transfer at £5 million. I couldn't find a space in my squad for any of these 3 so selling them worked out best for everyone.

With the transfer market closing and the season approaching i was still a little worried by the left wing position. Although we've brought in Pastore, I still wanted more cover in case of injury or loss of form.

LAMELA SIGNS ON LOAN
View attachment 277719
I was really surprised to be able to capture Lamela on loan from Juventus. I noticed he was on the transfer list when Juve bought Reus and he had interest from Athletico which must have died down. I managed Lamela while at Tottenham and found him to have bags of talent and quality but he was constantly injured, with it just being a loan deal i can gamble on his fitness.

Juve only bought the Argentinian from Tottehnam 2 seasons before and he looks to have disappointed the Bianconeri.

The final transfer was done late on and even surprised me:

View attachment 277717
Luka Jovic is the final player to join before the start of the season. The 19 year old Serbian had previously been at Besiktas and Red Star Belgrade before that. He's still young and raw but has a brilliant goals to game record. He managed 15 in 30 games in his final season for Red Star before banging in 20 in 23 games in his 1 and only season at Besiktas.

He won't start every game but he certainly looks useful to bring off the bench and will no doubt improve dramatically in the future.

As this brings an end to the transfer stories of this pre-season i thought i'd show you our pre-season results:

View attachment 277716

Some great results there, although we were huge favourites for every game its still nice to bang some goals in. We managed 26 goals in just 6 games which means an average of 4.3 goals scored per game. Gabriel Garbosa was one of the main reasons for this scoring 10 of the 26. Kevin Volland was also in great form scoring 9 from right wing with Gundogen, Immobile, Douglas Costa and Kagawa with the rest.

This is the tactic i have used for pre-season and will be using throughout the season (providing it goes well):

View attachment 277714

There's still a couple of question marks I have over this squad, what's Pastore's best position? where does Lamela fit in? can Mkhitaryan play central midfield? can Rudy adapt to playing right back for a full season?

All these questions will have to be answered after at least 10 games or so and some tinkering may be required. Providing this goes well, my instructions to the team will be:

View attachment 277713
This was very similar to the tactic used at Tottenham to great success. It should allow us to control the game and have majority of the ball and the talent and flair of the attacking 4 players should be enough to win games on their own.

This brings an end to the summer transfer window and the most pleasing part is we've improved the squad and kept hold of important players such as Ilkay Gundogen. Man Utd never improved their offer of £30 million. My only worry with him is that he's only got 2 years left on his contract so we have to look at selling him next season.

After a great pre-season the bookies had us down as 3rd favourites for the league title:

View attachment 277710
Obviously Bayern were strong favourites with Schalke pipping us to second spot (in their eyes).

BRING ON THE START OF THE SEASON.

We start the season with a German Cup match against lower league opposition in Weida:

View attachment 277511

And what a start that was! A 9-0 thumping against a very poor side but we still have to score them. We were totally dominant and looking at the stats it could have even been more. We had 55, yes 55 shots on goal with 22 on target! Their goalkeeper actually had a decent game despite conceeding 9, (has that ever been said before?)
Lamela bagged a hattrick in his first start for the club, as did Gabriel Barbosa before Kevin Volland continued his great pre-season form with a brace while substitute Douglas Costa netted just after the hour mark.

This always should have been an easy game but I'm still delighted we won so comfortably.

Our reward for beating Weida:

View attachment 277509
A ding-dong of a tie against Champions and rivals Bayern Munich! What a test this will be. I wish we'd drawn them in one of the latter rounds but I'm still looking forward to this one to see how muc we've closed the gap.

Our first league game was against Hertha who were predicted to finish mid-table after doing just that for the last few seasons:

View attachment 277507
We started badly and allowed Hertha to take the lead after just 3 minutes with some sloppy defending. We came back into it though and although we weren't great we just about did enough. Kevin Volland once again bagging another brace, maybe he could be my German equivalent of Wilfried Zaha.

Our first home game was a much tougher test:

View attachment 277505

But we came through it just fine.
Hamburg were predicted to compete for the European spots after finishing 5th last season but they were no match for the mighty Dortmund. Barbosa put us 1-0 up after just 9 minutes before our chances improved somewhat with a red card awarded to Kevin Vogt with not even 20 minutes played. Sokratis then doubled the lead just after half time and we comfortably held on from there.

Sokratis got his first start of the season, replacing Vermaelen who looked really poor against Hertha, I wondered if i was harsh in dropping Vermealen but i guess not.

We then had another very winnable home game:

View attachment 277503
Another solid victory to make it 4 from 4 in all competition. Kevin Volland bagged his 4th goal of the season to put us 1-0 up before Gabriel Barbosa grabbed his 5th of the season to ensure us of all 3 points.

View attachment 277501

Only weeks after joining on loan, the injury curse is haunting Erik Lamela yet again.

We had this problem at Spurs and in truth thats why I decided to cash in on him when he was sold to Juve. He's had a good start to the season but I just hope he can stay fit and really prove his quality.

During August, we also found out who we'd be drawn against in the Europa League.

View attachment 277500

This should be a fairly comfortable group for us to win, the toughest game probably being against Italian side Cagilari. Games against Ukrainian side, Metalist and Belgian side, Genk should really be straight forward.

At the end of August, we find ourselves proudly top of the league.

View attachment 277499

3 wins from 3 leaves us top of the league! Early days, i know but a shock 1-0 away defeat to Bremen means Champions Bayern are already 3 points behind.

September 2017

After 3 wins out of 3 we faced a struggling BMG side who were predicted to finish 5th pre-season.
.

View attachment 275950

A struggling performance but a wins a win. We dominated BMG throughout the game and had a total of 23 shots and 14 on target while restricting them to just 1 shot on target. Jonas Hofmann got the winner late on with just 5 minutes to go.
This keeps us top of the league with 4 wins from 4 games.

After this struggling win we faced another struggling side in Kaiserslauten who were predicted to finish bottom of the league.

View attachment 275948
A much better performance but again the scoreline should have been more flattering. We had 22 shots this time with 11 on target and restricting Kaiserslaten to just 3 shots throughout the game. Gabriel Barbosa continued his good form to put us 1-0 up before the visitors equalised. Luka Jovic then equalised just after half time. Jovic found himself in the starting line up on the left wing after an injury to Lamela and Pastore getting a much needed rest.

After another win we had a break from the league with a home game in the Europa League against Italian side Cagliari.

View attachment 275945

A really disappointing result in a game in which we really should have won. This isn't a great start to our European experience. We weren't at our best and allowed them too much of the ball and far too many chances.

Back to league action and another game against a side struggling against relegation.

View attachment 275939
A great win! The game was actually pretty end to end but our superior finishing won us the game. Gabriel Barbosa back to his best, betting a hatrick while Kevin Volland also got himself on the scoresheet.

The last game of the month was another very winnable game against a struggling Bremen side.

View attachment 275936

A great finish to the month in a completely dominant game. We had 31 shots and 13 on target while restricting Bremen to just 1 on target and 3 in total !! Erik Lamela, back from injury, bagged a first half brace from the left wing while Barbosa scored yet again to make it 3-0. After this we took our foot of the gas and tried too many long range efforts.

A great month for us and a great start to the season.

View attachment 275929

8 wins in a row really speaks for itself. Fortunately, this doesn't include our European run and includes the German cup game right at the start of the season.

Obviously this keeps us top of the league with 7 games to go.

View attachment 275928

Unsurprisingly, Bayern are our nearest challengers 3 points behind us. Bayerns form really means we need to keep this up as they'll be breathing down our neck all season.

October 2017

View attachment 274866

Another fantastic month with only one blip on the 6 game record which was a German Cup second round game against rivals, Bayern.

We started the month with a really tight Europa League game against Metalist which finished 4-3 after we went both 1-0 down and 2-1 down.

We then had an away trip to face a struggling Stuttgard side. Thomas Vermaelen got the only goal of the game after just 1 minute. We played well here but failed to increase this lead.

We then had our fist home game of the month against Frieburg. Here, we totally dominanted them! Kevin Volland bagged a well deserved hattrick before Barbosa struck the 4th goal.

This ensure we had now won 10 games in a row!!

View attachment 274863

We then had another Europa League game, this time against Genk which we won fairly comfortably. Goals from Pastore, Douglas Costa and a brace from Barbosa ensured the 4-2 win. Genk came back into the game a couple of times but we were always in control.

The final league game of the month was probably closer than it should have been. Pastore put us 1-0 up before St Pauli levelled late on. A late, late winner from Mkhitaryan ensured we kept our winning run going which has now stretched to 11 games.

View attachment 274857

Then the big one ...
It was only the second round of the German cup but I was excited to be challenged against the best team in the league by far and one of the best in the world. Unfortunately, Bayern came out on top in a very tight game. We allowed them a lot of the ball and tried to hit them on the break. This tactic worked well early on as Erik Lamela struck to put us 1-0 up. Late in the second half though Bayern came back strong and goals from old Dortmund boys, Lewandowski and Gotze got Bayern a late win.

Bayern got one over on us in the Cup, but we certainly have the advantage in the league:

View attachment 274856

After 10 games, and 10 wins, we sit proudly top of the League a massive 8 points above Bayern. I know its early days but 8 points is a lot to catch up, even if the have another 24 games to do it in.

Player of the month: Kevin Volland

Its tight for this month but Kevin Volland's performance's this month were exceptional. He bagged 4 goals from right wing and also provided several assists and key performances.

Barbosa and Pastore also came close in this award but i think the consistency of Volland just pipped them.

November 2017

View attachment 274805

We started November just as we finished October. A great 3-1 win at home to Schalke. A brace from Barbosa and a late own goal ensured we got the 3 points and increased our winning run to 11 games. This was a really pleasing victory as Schalke finished second last season and were in the top 5 before kick off here.

We then went back to the Europa League with a home game against Genk. A comfortable 2-0 win with goals from Barbosa and a late second from Erik Lamela. In truth we should have scored more but our finishing was poor and relied too much on long range efforts.

We then faced an inform Leverkusen side who absolutely dominated us! A 3-0 win was our first league defeat of the season! Jovic missed an early penalty which would have set us on our way. We were 1-0 down until late on so we then really went for the equaliser. This is how we conceeeded a further 2 goals when Leverkusen hit us on the break.

View attachment 274803

This obviously ended our winning run which reached a very impressive 12 games.

At least we bounced back well with a thumping 4-0 win over Wolfsburg. Goals from Pastore, Vermaelen, Ferreyra and Emre Can ensured we didn't sulk too long on the loss to Leverkusen.

We then got involved with the Europa League again and again failed to impress. We let a 2 goal lead slip after goals from Kagawa and Barbosa. We really haven't been at our best in this Europa League but still find ourselves top of the group.

Player of the month: Gabriel Barbosa

Again this award was pretty tight but Barbosa won games highhandedly this month. He banged in 4 goals in 4 games and a couple of those were winning goals.

December 2017

We entered into December with just 5 games to play before the winter break starts at the end of the month. Although, our job was made harder with some early injury news.

View attachment 274635

Center back, Knoche is out for 3 weeks which leaves Sokratis and Vermaelen as the only 2 center backs available for selection.

View attachment 274634

Once again Erik Lamela is halted by yet another injury. This time a fractured wrist keeps him out for 7 weeks! Lamela's been good this season but just like at Tottenham, his terrible injury record is making it difficult for him.

View attachment 274633

The final injury was sustained by midfield man, Henrikh Mkhitaryan who faces 2 months on the sidelines with a knee injury.

View attachment 274632

What a terrible start to the month! A shocking 4-0 loss against Mainz who are only mid table. I cant actually understand this one, it came from nowhere! We'll have to put this down to a bad day in the office and concentrate on the next game against Bayern.

The Bayern game was the big one for me. We led them at the top of the table by just 2 points after our loss to Mainz. Before the game the top three looked like this:
View attachment 274631

We really needed to beat Bayern otherwise they'd have leapfrogged us into top spot which knowing Bayern, would not let slip.
We changed our tactics for the Bayern game as I didn't feel we could match them with our usual passing attacking play.

View attachment 274630View attachment 274629

We set up much more defensively and looked to hit them on the break. This almost worked in the cup game earlier in the season until Bayern turned on the style in the last 20 minutes.

It worked to perfection in this game however. Barbosa with the only goal of the game, Bayern had a number of chances but we defended really well to see the result out.

View attachment 274624
This put us 5 points clear of Bayern and 12 clear of Schalke. Its still early days with only 15 games played but 5 points is a big margin at this stage of the season.

After this great result, we entertained Metalist in the Europa League. A drab 1-1 draw, Barbosa put us 1-0 up early on but we never kicked on and allowed Metalist back into the game.

This was the final game of the group which sees us take top spot.

View attachment 274626

Our Europa League campaign has been a little disappointing this season but we claimed top spot in what was a very poor group!

We then returned to the league with another disappointing draw. This time a goalless draw against Hannover. Again, we had numerous chances but our finishing was well off the normal high standard.

Our final game of the season was much more like it! A 5-0 hammering of Hoffenheim. Luka Jovic grabbed a hattrick with the other two goals coming from Barbosa and Immobile, getting a rare few minutes on the pitch.

View attachment 274625

With Bayern losing 2 games over this period, our lead at the top extends to 8 points after 17 games! This is a big ask for Bayern to make up 8 points.

We did have some bad news this month though:

View attachment 274623
Gabriel Barbosa came into the office to inform me he wants to leave Dortmund to join Real Madrid. Its so important that we dont lose Barbosa as he's so important to us! He' the main reason we're currently top of the league.

I'v told him that if Madrid match our valuation then we'll accept their offer. I'm a little concerned about his contract though, he's currently tied here until 2020 but he wants nearly £200k per week to extend this! Obviously with our financial restraints we cannot offer this so we have the decision to either sell him in the next 12 months or so or just let his contract run out.

Pre-Season 2015/2016

So after a busy end to the season, the first job was to bring in some funds from transfers . . . .

View attachment 773199
First up Everton make a £6 million offer for Vlad Chiriches. Chiriches didn't even make a single appearance for us last year so i was very happy to get a tidy sum for him.

Unfortunaltey, Everton didnt have enough funds to complete this transfer. However they came back with a £5 million offer which was again accepted and actually completed this time.

We then had another offer for a fringe player . . . .

View attachment 773205
Fiorentina complete the transfer of Benjamin Stambouli for £5.5 million. Stambouli only made 4 appearances last season and failed to impress in any of them. Again, I'm pretty happy to bring in over £5 million for someone whos never really going to play.

View attachment 773208
Next up Hamburg offer for their loan star last season, Lewis Holtby. The £5 million offer met a clause in Holtby's loan agreement meaning I didnt have a choice with this offer.

I do actually need Holtby to leave this summer however because he's currently on £60k per week which is over my budget. I'm also hoping I can bring in a bit of money for him.

View attachment 773211

Unfortunately, Holtby rejected the move to Hamburg! Looks like I'll have to offer him out further afield.

Well after bringing in £10million, i was at least able to bring in a couple of new faces . . .

View attachment 773217
Both Zakaria Bakkali and Samuel Umtiti join on free transfers after agreeing these deals back in January. Both players look to have great futures but loan spells look the best option for them this season.

View attachment 773225
Our next signing came in the form of winger Wilfried Zaha on loan from Man Utd! Zaha spent last year on loan at Crystal Palace and became an influential figure but still couldnt stop them from being relegated from the Premier League.

This should offer good competition for Andros Townsend who relied on too much last season.

After those couple of additions, we came back to office to find interest in Kevin Gameiro . . .

View attachment 773233

Italian giants Ac Milan offered over £18 million for the in-form Frenchman. Although only £4 million of this was offered to be paid upfront.

This offer was instantly declined! It's so important that keep Gameiro here!! We relied so heavily on him last season, without him we probably wouldnt have finished in the top 4.

We then received a couple of offers for youngster Thomas Carroll.
View attachment 773243

Both Hull and Leicester offer for the young midfielder. I'm reluctant to let Carroll leave though. I was hoping to give him a chance in the first team this season following his impressive loan spell at Swansea last season.

We eventually get rid of Lewis Holtby . . . .

View attachment 773249

Holtby eventually agreed terms with Marseille after a long drawn out transfer! Holby leaves us for £5 million but more importantly he's off our wage bill.

Our final departure before the much antisipated Super Cup was out of favour center half, Younes Kaboul . .

View attachment 773254

Kaboul joins Aston Villa for a fee of £4 million! Again, Kaboul only played a handful of games for us last season so I was really pleased to bring in so much for him.

With the Super Cup game against Real Madrid only a week or two away, we concentrated on bringing in a few new faces in time . . . .

View attachment 773256

The latest addition was former Man Utd midfielder Tom Cleverley! Cleverley signs on a free transfer after his contract expired with Man Utd.

Cleverley enjoyed a good season on loan at Aston Villa last season, making 22 appearances and recorded an average rating of 7.01.

After bringing in 4 players without spending a single penny on transfers fee's, i decided to spend a litle . . .

View attachment 773262

First up was Everton and England center back, Phil Jagielka!

Jagielka signed for £4 million and should slot straight into the first team. Liam Moore had a fantastic season last year but I dont feel I can rely on him for both a League challenge and a tough Champions League campaign.

Our last paid-transfer was West Ham striker, Andy Carroll . . . .

View attachment 773259

Carroll signs from West Ham for £7 million which could eventually rise to £9 million.

Carroll had a decent season last year but injury kept him from making a really big impact. He also failed to keep West Ham in the division.

Just before the Super Cup, we arranged loan spells for a couple of the younger lads . . .

New boy Zakaria Bakkali joins newly relegated Crystal Palace. The 19 year old is a way off our first team so this should do him good!

Federico Bonazzoli also left for a season long loan, this time to newly promoted side Nottingham Forrest. Bonazzoli obviously caught the eye last season with his impressive form in League One. We actually had over 30 offers from various clubs to take him on loan.

So, with all the transfers out the way, it's time to look at our pre-season results . . .

A good set of resuts there!

The one that really catches the eye is the 3-1 victory of French champions, PSG. It was a great performance from the lads with goals from Gameiro, Lamela and a Pastore own goal.

We also got some news about the managerial changes in the Premier League . . .

First of all, Liverpool appoint Italy, Galatasary and Fiorentia manager, Cesare Prandelli as successor to AVB who was axed at the end of the season.

Man Utd then appointed former Reds center back, Laurent Blanc from French champions PSG, Man Utd harshly sacked Van Gaal last season so Blanc has a lot to do to avoid the same fate.
