Gary Linaker – Welcome everyone to the 2015 League Cup final between two Premier League giants, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

My guests today are former Manchester United and Everton defender, Phil Neville and former Tottenham midfielder Danny Murphy.

So Danny, what chance to give your former team today?

Danny Murphy – I actually think Tottenham have got half a chance today. For me, it all depends on which side Man City put out. Throughout the whole competition they’ve fielded a so called ‘weakened team’ if they do that today against an inform Spurs side then I think they’ll struggle.

Phil Neville – A agree with Danny, this is a cup final, you have to play your strongest team! The team they’ve played have done very well to get this far but this Tottenham team are no mugs!

Gary Linaker – Okay, well as you both think so much depends on the starting line ups . . . lets have a look at them . . . . .

View attachment 302385

Well that is surprising! City boss Mauel Pellegrini has kept faith with the side that has got him into the final and has left out several big names.

Advantage Tottenham do we think?

Danny Murphy – Without a doubt its advantage Tottenham! With the form Spurs are in I’m really surprised by this.

Phil Neville – Pellegrini is taking a big gamble here, he’s under pressure with their poor league form so could really do with some silverware this season and this is by far his best opportunity.

Gary Linaker – Well first of all lets go through the players that are missing for City . . . . .

City have left out: Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany, David Silva, Fernadinho and Yaya Toure. All of which are on the bench.
They’ve also left out the squad altogether, Sergio Aguero, Stefan Jovetic, Edin Dzeko, Andriy Yarmolenko.

Phil Neville – Whats really surprising there is leaving out Yarmolenko who absolutely tortured Tottenham earlier on in the season. I can almost understand him leaving out Ageuro due to this recent injury problems but he still should be on the bench.

Gary Linaker – Okay, before we forget who City are playing here today lets quickly go through the spurs starting line up . . . . .

Danny Murphy – Pretty much as we expected really. Spurs will set up as they have done in all the big games this season. They’ll set up deep, allow the opposition the majority of the ball and hit them on the break. With the pace of Townsend, Dembele and the two full backs set up Tottenham to be the perfect counter attacking team.

Phil Neville – The big blow for Tottenham is losing top goal scorer Kevin Gameiro and influential center back Jan Vertongehn, both the long term injuries. Federico Fazio’s come into the side and been brilliant alongside the young and inexperienced Liam Moore.

Gary Linaker – With all this talking we’re in danger of missing the kick off, so lets get down there and see what we get on . . . .

KICK OFF

11”
A nervy start made by both teams with several mistakes already been made. This one however nearly led to the opening goal. Liam Moore’s shaky back pass only just had enough on it to reach Lloris whos clearances cannoned off Samir Nasri and out for a goal kick.

21”
Another chance for Man City as Nasri slides in young Iheanacho who was one on one with Lloris. Lloris made himself big and did well to turn the effort round the post.

29”
The first chance for Tottenham comes after almost half an hour. Andros Townsend with a great run down the right who then manages to tee up Christian Erikson at the edge of the box. It looked set up perfectly but Erikson blasted wide.

34”
Another chance for Tottenham, this time for young forward Harry Kane. Kane broke the offside trap but put this effort wide after pressure from Mangala.

48”
A crunching tackle between Jonjo Shelvey and Mangala looks to have hurt both players. Shelvey looks to have come off the worse though, it looks like that’s his game over. He’s replaced by Andre Hahn who will presumably play out wide with Erikson coming centrally.

HALF TIME

48”
Man City with an early chance in the second half and to be honest one they should have taken! A deep freekick which was flicked on by Mangala created havoc in the Tottenham box. The ball eventually fell to Navas who couldn’t find the target from close range.

54”
Tottenham starting to get more and more involved in the game now, Andros Townsend seeing much more of the ball giving Kolorov the complete run around.

57”
Great play by Dembele who breaks through the challenge of James Milner and skips past Nastasic, he then feeds through Townsend who has got goal side of Kolorov yet again. Townsend strikes it low and hard across the goalkeeper . . . . .
GOAL
Tottenham 1 - 0 Man City

Poor goalkeeping from ***** Caballero who lets the ball slip through his fingers and into the bottom corner.

58”
City immidiatley bring on David Silva, Yaya Toure and Fernadinho to try and rescue the game.

65”
Even with the big guns on for Man City, its still Tottenham who look more dangerous, this time Harry Kane with a low drive which strikes the bottom of the post.

70”
Its all Tottenham now, City are really struggling and are lucky not to be 2 down. Townsend with yet another chance after beating Kolorov for the umpteenth time. Well saved by Caballero though.

79”
City starting to come into the game more now. Spurs are starting the tire and Toure is taking full advantage of that. He carried the ball from halfway before unleashing a vicious strike with crashes against the crossbar. Lloris had no chance.

85”
City now getting desperate, Spurs are camped in their own box but still City cant break them down. Spurs are forcing them into long shots, the latest from Yaya Toure which was well blocked.

89”
City now with a free kick on halfway, the balls headed away by Liam Moore and finds its way to Harry Kane who looks to run the ball into the corner. He see’s Townsend charging down the middle though and plays in his teammate who calmly beats ***** Caballero and tucks away his second of the day and secures the trophy for Tottenham!
TOTTENHAM 2 - 0 MAN CITY

Gary Linaker – Well, Tottenham win their first piece of silverware since 2008! Danny, what did you think of that.

Danny Murphy – Tottenham were fantastic, as much as we can criticise City’s starting line you have to give credit to Spurs! They’d have given City’s first team a real game today.

Phil Neville – I agree. Although I think Pellegrini will come under massive scrutiny now Tottenham deserved the win.

Gary Linaker – Are either of you worried about the amount of game Tottenham could potentially play this season?

Danny Murphy – A little bit. They’re still in the FA cup and have a tough tie in the Quarter finals against Everton. For me the worry is the Europa League! That’s the competition that really takes it out of you because of the travelling. They’ve been lucky so far that the past two teams have been German so the travelling isn’t that bad. But they have a great chance of winning it so they really have to go for it.

Phil Neville – The challenge is now is to get the lads motivated for the league and other cup competitions. It may feel like ‘job done’ a little bit, they’ve won the trophy now but they still have so much to play for.

Gary Linaker – Thanks everyone and we’ll see you again next week for the FA cup Quarter finals.

March 2015

After our fantastic cup win, we had to prepare ourselves for a tough period, first up an away trip to the Britannia Stadium . . . . .

STOKE 3 - 2 TOTTENHAM

View attachment 302364

It didn’t go too well

Totally disappointing result here against a mid table stoke side. In truth we never really showed up and a hattrick from Vloar Orn Kjartansson was one of the best performances from the season. Kane looked to get us back in it at 2-1 down but it wasnt to be. We're now 7 points ahead of 5th place Everton having played the same amount of games.

The cup win looked to have taken it out off all the lads.

The worst news to come from this defeat were 2 injuries . . .

View attachment 302363

First up Harry Kane was ruled out for up to 8 days. But even worse was an injury sustained by Danny Ings . . .

View attachment 302362

Ings was ruled out for 6 weeks !

This now means all 3 recognised strikers are ruled out ! We also loaned Bonazzoli to Swindon and are unable to recall him.

After this we had to pick ourselves up for a tough FA cup tie away at Goodison Park . . . .

EVERTON 1 - 1 TOTTENHAM

View attachment 302361
We struggled here against a very good Everton side who currently occupy 5th place in the league.

Our main problem was the fact we didnt have a recognised striker at all, Gameiro, Kane and Ings all out injured and Bonazzoli loaned to Swindon and unable to be recalled. Nacer Chadli started up top on his own as a F9.
A draw here isnt too bad as we get to bring Everton back to White Hart Lane, hopefully with a few players back from injury. The only downside is this mean yet another game!! Andre Hahn with the late equaliser.

Our attentions turn yet again onto another competition, this time the Europa League . . . .

MAINZ 1 - 1 TOTTENHAM

View attachment 302360
Again, I'm pretty happy with a draw here. Could have been better, could have been worse! We're really starting to struggle without a proper striker in the squad. The good news is Kane should be back for the next game. Nabil Bentaleb got his first of the season to keep the tie alive.

Another tricky Premier League game against Man City followed . . .TOTTENHAM 1 - 1 MAN CITY
View attachment 302359

Yet another draw! Again, I'm quite happy with this though. Man City were only 6 points behind so if they got a win here it really would be game on. A point apiece anyway leaves us 6 points clear of 5th place Man City and 3 points clear of 4th place Arsenal, with a game in hand.
Dele Alli grabbed the opener which believe it or not was his first goal in a tottenham shirt. Fernando brought City level just after the hour mark.

Now, the crucial second leg against Mainz, we go into the second leg with a slender advantage of just 1 away goal . . .

TOTTENHAM 1 - 0 MAINZ

View attachment 302358

We just about edged it !

Not a great performance but a great result. Townsend put us 1-0 up early on which allowed us to sit back and counter attack for the remainder of the game. We're stil struggling up front with Kane the only fit striker and if we're honest he isnt really good enough at this stage of his career. Townsend won man of the match but it was another good game for Dele Alli who's come good the last 3/4 games or so.

This victory ensures a Quarter final tie against ANOTHER German side. BMG will be our next opponents, another mid-table German side who we really should be beating.

There's only really Athletico and Inter Milan who would scare me out of the remaining teams. We have a real chance of winning this now !

View attachment 302354

Another London derby followed, after drawing the first encounter 2-2 can we take the bragging rights this time around . . .

ARSENAL 2 - 2 TOTTENHAM

View attachment 302357

2-2 in both North London derbies !

Not a bad result. Slightly disappointed that we allowed them back in the game after twice taking the lead. Bentaleb put us 1-0 from an early corner before Theo Walcott scored a very good opener. Minutes later Dele Alli restored our lead, Alli's break from the first team really looks to have done him good, winning man of the match today! Danny Welbeck then equalised just after half time.

We remain 3 points in front of Arsenal with a game in hand.

Our final game of the month see's the replay against Everton in the FA cup Quarter final . . .

TOTTENHAM 1 - 0 EVERTON

View attachment 302356
A great win which puts us into the semi final against Aston Villa, another trip to Wembley beckons. Jan Vertonghen with his first goal after getting back into the after his long injury

Our victory against Everton ensured we played Aston Villa in the semi final at Wembley . . .

View attachment 302355

Although we only won 3 games all month, I'm still pretty pleased with our form in March. Some very respectable draw's in there and obviously the FA cup Semi final to look forward to.

Congratulations on your first trophy,
Hopefully you can follow it up with two more cup wins, and a top 4 finish,
Terrible luck with the striker injuries, how long is bonazzoli at swindon for?? Hopefully you can keep grinding out the decent results

Thanks mate!
Yeah still going strong in the other 2 and top 4 looks a possibility too :) Bonazzoli's on loan for the season, I thought i put a recall clause in but obviously didnt!

April 2015

After a decent March we had to pick up our league form a little in April to make sure we confirmed a top 4 spot . . .

TOTTENHAM 2 - 0 WEST BROM

View attachment 302232
A very good start to the month with a routine win over relegation threatened West Brom. Nacer Chadli with the opener before substitute Dembele scored a second half penalty. Danny Ings also got off the bench after a long period on the sidelines.

Another very winnable game comes next with a home game against Leicester . . .

TOTTENHAM 2 - 0 LEICESTER

View attachment 302222
Another very good routine victory. This time over Leicester. Dele Alli with an abolute cracker opened the scoring before Liam Moore notched his first Premier League goal to secure the points. Dele Alli bagged man of the match yet again to carry on his great form.

NEWCASTLE 2 - 1 TOTTENHAM

View attachment 302217

A surprising defeat against a constantly improving Newcaslte side. This defeat was helped with Arsenal drawing with Sunderland at home. This now means we're 5 points above 4th placed Arsenal and 9 points in front of 5th placed Man City, who have a game in hand.

There's only 5 games left to play now so there isn't long for them to catch us.

Our attentions now turn towards the Europa League Quarter Finals . .
.

TOTTENHAM 3 - 0 BMG
View attachment 302209

We recovered well from the shock defeat against Newcastle. BMG should have been a straight forward victory as they currently lie in 11th position in the German league and were struggling for form. Andros Townsend opened the scoring before Danny Ings bagged a brace!

FA CUP SEMI FINAL

Now, another trip to Wembley, this time for the FA cup semi final against Aston Villa

View attachment 302202

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT !

How disappointing! We just didnt really show up! We had enough shots just not enough on target or enough clear cut chances. Agbonlahor won it with a late deflected shot off Danny Rose.

I genuinly thought we'd go on to win after Erikson pulled the scored level but we just couldnt kick on. Our chance of doing the trebles vanishes! We still have the Europa League to give us a chance of winning the double.

Now, back to the Europa league with a 3-0 lead from the first leg . . .

BMG 2 - 1 TOTTENHAM

View attachment 302200

Its not very often that your pleased with a loss, but i think this is one of those times! In truth we were very, very poor! But at least we're in the hat for the Semi Finals.

TOTTENHAM 2 - 3 EVERTONView attachment 302198
Another very very poor performance!! We really need to improve or we risk losing our Champions League position! I thought the comeback was on after Lamela bagged the second but it wasnt to be.

Its a good job that Arsenal and Man City keep slipping up. We remain 3rd , 4 points above Arsenal in 4th and now Everton overtake City and move 5th, 7 points behind us.

So another fairly poor month! Only 3 wins out of 7 which just isnt good enough !!

The biggest disappointing was the loss to Villa in the semi final. I really felt confident of a win here but Villa just kept hitting us on the break !

The one shinning light this month was our victory in the Europa League Quarter Final against BMG. We were then drawn against Lille.

View attachment 302197
Again, i fancy us here and really can us at least reaching the final !!

The performances of Dele Allli didnt go unnoticed this month . . . .

View attachment 302196
Alli comes second in the young player of the month award, just behind Berahino.

Alli's break from the first team looks to have really done him well with him putting in some fantastic performances of late and taking the starting role away from Dembele.

At the end of April, with just 5 games to go we stay 3rd in the table, 4 points above Arsenal in 4th and now Everton overtake City and move 5th, 7 points behind us.

The results haven't been too kind to you! Good luck in Europe! I still think you stand a better chance of winning Europa than finishing top 4! But hey, here's hoping for both! :)

Well done on your first trophy. Think you could win Europa and get top 4 that would be very good season to build on. Good luck in remaining games

Starting to have a little wobble, hopefully it is short lived as you have done such a great job this season.
Fingers crossed for 3rd place incase you dont win europa league, as you dont want to have to do qualifiers

Well done on your campaign so far mate! I think a top 4 finish in the league, a Cup trophy and Semi's in the Europa has to go down as an awesome season for Tottenham regardless!

Thanks mate, yeah there doesnt seem to be anyone that great left in the Europa League. Still cant believe we beat Dortmund if I'm honest ! Top 4 will be tough as Everton, Arsenal and Man City are all pretty close.

Well done on your first trophy. Think you could win Europa and get top 4 that would be very good season to build on. Good luck in remaining games

Cheers! I'd class that as a good season too :) As long as I win the Europa League I'll be happy with the season.

Fingers crossed for 3rd place incase you dont win europa league, as you dont want to have to do qualifiers

I know, really dont want the qualifiers, could get drawn against someone decent. I'm slightly concerned about the wobble but i think injuries are really playing a part now!

Well done on your campaign so far mate! I think a top 4 finish in the league, a Cup trophy and Semi's in the Europa has to go down as an awesome season for Tottenham regardless!

Cheers mate! Would be good, here's hoping for top 4 and Europa success in the next dozen games or so.

Sorry for the delay guys, but the end of season update is finally here !!

End of Season 2014 / 2015

After a shaky couple of months, we really need a good end to the month, first up is a London derby, away at QPR . . . .

View attachment 301348
A good start to the month! Finally a victory in the league. Its still wasnt a great performance but at least we get the 3 points and our first clean sheet for a while.
Nice to see Townsend get a couple whos had a fantastic season, Danny Ings with the other goal.

We're now 7 points clear of both 4th and 5th with just 3 games to go! 1 more win required to secure Champions League football at White Hart Lane.

Next up, our attentions switched yet again, this time to the Europa League and the semi final tie against Lille, the first leg being away from home . . . . .

View attachment 301349

Not a bad result, this should set us up nicely for the home leg next week. The 2 away goals we've scored could prove to be invaluable.
Danny Ings opened the scoring with his 14th of the season before Lille hit back. Ings then won a penalty which was tucked away by Lamela. Really disappointed to let Lille back in the game in injury time.

Back to Thursday-Sunday football again, with a home game against Swansea !

View attachment 301350
Our poor league form continues, this time a 1-0 defeat against 14th placed Swansea! The game looked to fizzle out for a draw before ex Spurs player Sigurdsson got the winner late on.
A few changes were made with the Europa League 2nd leg in mind but we still should have had enough to win.

Im praying that we don’t balls up this top 4 finish which has looked so assured for a while now.

And now back to the Europa League semi final, this time the second leg being at home. We take a slight advantage going into this game simply by having 2 away goals.

View attachment 301351
Unusually, we book our place in the final without actually beating our semi final opponents in either game.
We face Dynamo Kyiv (who staged a great comeback in their semi final against Inter Milan) in the final after beating Lille on away goals. I thought the 2 goals in the first leg could be important and i was proved to be right.
Kevin Gameiro came off the bench and marked his comeback with what turned out to be the winning goal.

After securing our place in the Europa League final, we can now concentrate on our league form for the last 2 Premier League games. 1 win out of the 2 will guarantee top 4!

View attachment 301352
ITS THERE !!
A TOP 4 FINISH GUARANTEED WITH ONE GAME REMAINING !

It wasn’t altogether straight forward however, Chamakh getting the opener. At 1-0 down I really did think this was going to go down to the final day of the season. However, Danny Ings levelled shortly after. Ings replaced the tired Kevin Gameiro who looked burned out after his long injury, Ings certainly did the business.
Probably our best player of the season so far, Andros Townsend then came to the fore with a great strike to put us 2-1 up. Then up stepped Christian Erikson who struck the ball from 25 yards which hit the post and went in! A 3-1 lead, surely nothing could go wrong from here . . .

But it almost very nearly did, a clumsy tackle by Danny Rose in the penalty arear gave Mile Jedinak the opportunity to score from 12 yards . . which we did!

3-2.
Fortunately we managed to hold on for the 3-2 win and confirm Champions League football for next season !!

Then came the first dead rubber of the season, a home game against Southampton with neither team anything to play for

View attachment 301345

We still managed to get the win!

A number of changes were made with the Europa League final in the back of my mind, but we still put in a good performance. Danny Ings who kept his place bagged the 1 and only goal of the game. Kevin Gameiro was rested for the final next week.
That brings an end to the 2014/2015 Premier League season.

View attachment 301344
As you can see, we managed to secure 3rd spot by 6 points in the end after Everton lost there last 2 games! Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City all miss out on Champions League qualification !

Chelsea ended up winning the league by 5 with Man Utd coming in second place.

Next up is the big one!

The Europa League final, the biggest day in Spurs history for some time! This is far bigger than our League Cup success earlier on in the season . . . .

View attachment 301311We set up with our tried and tested 4-5-1 formation with Kevin Gameiro leading the attack. Dele Alli kept his place in central midfield after a really good spell of performances from the young lad.
The two main danger players for Kyiv seem to be, Miguel Veloso and Younes Belhanda.

After seeing the line ups, I really fancy us here! And I’m quite relived that they beat Inter Milan in the semi final !
View attachment 301343
What a win !!

In truth I probably underestimated Kyiv here as they gave us a right good go. I put faith in Kevin Gameiro up front but in truth he wasn’t ready for a full return, I should have kept with Ings who’d scored 2 in his last 2 anyway!
It was a very tight game and I think Kyiv will be really disappointed to lose this after putting in such a good performance.
It took until the 105th minute before the deadlock was broken and a surprise scorer getting the winning goal. Liam Moore bagged the winner from close range after a defensive error left Moore with a glorious chance from 3 yards out. His goal capped off an imporessive performance and was unlucky not to win man of the match. There was very little to chose between him and Danny Rose who was the eventual winner.

View attachment 301307

View attachment 301308

Now with the season over, I thought id show you some stat, we all love a good stat dont we . . . .

View attachment 301306

Diego Costa won the top goalscorer award for Premier League with 19 league goals, beating Chelsea teammate Eden Hazard by just one goal. Surprisingly Lukas Podolski came 3rd with an impressive 17 from 30 appearances.

View attachment 301303
At the other end of the pitch, Man Utd goalkeeper David De Gea won the Golden Glove award. Evertons Tim Howard came 2nd with our very own Hugo Lloris coming 3rd. With 16 clean sheets each, the winner was decided by the number of goals conceded. There was just one goal separating De Gea and Howard but Howard had played 6 more game so I’m not sure how De Gea won this to be honest. Lloris was a way behind after conceding 42 in 38 games.

View attachment 301301

Eden Hazard won the big one!
Hazard won the Premier League, player of the year award. Hazard scored 18 goals and recorded 15 assist from midfield this season.

View attachment 301300
Our very own Christian Erikson picked up the young player of the year award. This surprised me a little, not that Erikson didn’t have a great season but I didn’t think he was young enough to win this award! Its surprised me that he’s only 23 years old.

He created 14 assists and scored 5 goals in 32 games. If I’m being hyper-critical then his goal scoring needs to improve slightly, but still an amazing season for the Dane.

View attachment 301298

Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho won the Manager of the year award. I don’t think anyone can complain about this too much as they did win the league fairly comfortably, but then again they were probably expected to.
Unfortunately, there’s no second or third place awareded here as I’d like to think I’d be up there after winning 2 trophy’s, getting to the Semi final of the FA cup and finishing 3rd!

View attachment 301297
Spurs were recognised again, this time in the Team of the Year. Both Christian Erikson and Kevin Gameiro got slots in the starting line up with a further place on the bench for Erik Lamela. I’m really disappointed that Andros Townsend didn’t get into this team, Juan Cuadrado is a great player but I’d argue that Townsend had the better season, in a poorer team.

View attachment 301296
Our fans player of the year award went to Andros Townsend! I full agree with this award!
At the start of this save my intensions were to use Townsend sparingly and maybe even offload him after a year or two. But he’s really proved me wrong with a great season! He scored 20 goals and created 9 assists from right wing! That’s a good return for a striker never mind a right winger!
Townsend won the award with 45% of the voting, second placed Christian Erikson had 28% and Jan Vertonghen with 17%.

In other competitions:

View attachment 301295

Man Utd go on to win the FA cup with a 5-2 final win over Aston Villa.

View attachment 301293

Real Madrid become the first team to retain the Champions League by winning the tournament in consecutive years.

View attachment 301292

Its seems Madrid won everything before them this season, winning the league title, Champions League, Spanish Cup, Spanish Super Cup and the Club World Championship.

View attachment 301289
This means that Tottenham will have the privilege (I think) of playing the mighty Real Madrid in this seasons Super Cup.

There were also a number of managerial sackings at the end of the season . . . .

View attachment 301278
The first managerial casualty came as Man City sacked Manuel Pellegrini. This isn’t too surprising after their disappointing finish! No silverware and failure to qualify for the Champions League was too much for the Man City owners.

View attachment 301275
ASTON VILLA SACK TONY PULIS !!
This is one I really don’t understand ! Tony Pulis got Villa to 10th in the league and the final of the Fa cup, but 2 weeks later he’s unemployed!! AVB at Liverpool is the favourite to go next, closely followed by Keoman at Southampton.

View attachment 301269

Again, failure to qualify for the Champions League has cost another manager his job, this time Liverpool part ways with AVB.

And lastly . . .

View attachment 301268
This is another shocking one!
LVG came second in the league to a very good Chelsea side and won the FA cup. Surely this should have gone down as a good season for them after the disaster they had last year! Blanc looks favourite to take over.

The end of the season also brought to an end a couple of loan spells . . .

Federico Bonazzoli, Thomas Carroll and Lewis Holtby all came back to the club following loan spells.

Federico Bonazzoli returned after a very sucessful loan spell at League side Swindon. Bonazzoli scored 14 goals in 19 games and also bagged 4 assists.
I think another loan spell it needed, hopefully this time in a higher division.

Lewis Holtby also returned after a good loan spell, this time with German side Hamburg. Holtby played 34 times and recorded an average rating of 7.05.

The last notable loanee to return is Thomas Carroll who returns following a spell at fellow Premier League side Swansea. Carroll become a regular for the Welsh side, making 30 appearances for the club. Maybe he can come straight into our first team this season!

Great great season!!!! Well done,
Fingers crossed you can keep this up in the following seasons,
People are gonna want big money now,

Great job! Well done. I knew you could win Europa! Now it's time to push on and try get out of your champions league group! May the draw odds be ever in your favor!

Great season mate! Love the idea!! Hope you get a decent draw in the Champs League :)

Thanks pal. Really pleased with the Europa win, hopefully wont be playing in it again though lol.

Thanks! We'll wait and see :)

I have to say that I have enjoyed every bit of this story so far and I like how you have set up your club's finances. Great job mate. Will definitely be following. The problem now will be to hold on to your best players while maintaining your salary cap

Cheers mate! Yeah already having a few of the bigger players wanting improved contracts which we just cant offer them! Thanks for following :)

Pre-Season 2015/2016

So after a busy end to the season, the first job was to bring in some funds from transfers . . . .

View attachment 300460
First up Everton make a £6 million offer for Vlad Chiriches. Chiriches didn't even make a single appearance for us last year so i was very happy to get a tidy sum for him.

Unfortunaltey, Everton didnt have enough funds to complete this transfer. However they came back with a £5 million offer which was again accepted and actually completed this time.

We then had another offer for a fringe player . . . .

View attachment 300457
Fiorentina complete the transfer of Benjamin Stambouli for £5.5 million. Stambouli only made 4 appearances last season and failed to impress in any of them. Again, I'm pretty happy to bring in over £5 million for someone whos never really going to play.

View attachment 300456
Next up Hamburg offer for their loan star last season, Lewis Holtby. The £5 million offer met a clause in Holtby's loan agreement meaning I didnt have a choice with this offer.

I do actually need Holtby to leave this summer however because he's currently on £60k per week which is over my budget. I'm also hoping I can bring in a bit of money for him.

View attachment 300455

Unfortunately, Holtby rejected the move to Hamburg! Looks like I'll have to offer him out further afield.

Well after bringing in £10million, i was at least able to bring in a couple of new faces . . .

View attachment 300454
Both Zakaria Bakkali and Samuel Umtiti join on free transfers after agreeing these deals back in January. Both players look to have great futures but loan spells look the best option for them this season.

View attachment 300453
Our next signing came in the form of winger Wilfried Zaha on loan from Man Utd! Zaha spent last year on loan at Crystal Palace and became an influential figure but still couldnt stop them from being relegated from the Premier League.

This should offer good competition for Andros Townsend who relied on too much last season.

After those couple of additions, we came back to office to find interest in Kevin Gameiro . . .

View attachment 300449

Italian giants Ac Milan offered over £18 million for the in-form Frenchman. Although only £4 million of this was offered to be paid upfront.

This offer was instantly declined! It's so important that keep Gameiro here!! We relied so heavily on him last season, without him we probably wouldnt have finished in the top 4.

We then received a couple of offers for youngster Thomas Carroll.
View attachment 300445

Both Hull and Leicester offer for the young midfielder. I'm reluctant to let Carroll leave though. I was hoping to give him a chance in the first team this season following his impressive loan spell at Swansea last season.

We eventually get rid of Lewis Holtby . . . .

View attachment 300442

Holtby eventually agreed terms with Marseille after a long drawn out transfer! Holby leaves us for £5 million but more importantly he's off our wage bill.

Our final departure before the much antisipated Super Cup was out of favour center half, Younes Kaboul . .

View attachment 300440

Kaboul joins Aston Villa for a fee of £4 million! Again, Kaboul only played a handful of games for us last season so I was really pleased to bring in so much for him.

With the Super Cup game against Real Madrid only a week or two away, we concentrated on bringing in a few new faces in time . . . .

View attachment 300439

The latest addition was former Man Utd midfielder Tom Cleverley! Cleverley signs on a free transfer after his contract expired with Man Utd.

Cleverley enjoyed a good season on loan at Aston Villa last season, making 22 appearances and recorded an average rating of 7.01.

After bringing in 4 players without spending a single penny on transfers fee's, i decided to spend a litle . . .

View attachment 300435

First up was Everton and England center back, Phil Jagielka!

Jagielka signed for £4 million and should slot straight into the first team. Liam Moore had a fantastic season last year but I dont feel I can rely on him for both a League challenge and a tough Champions League campaign.

Our last paid-transfer was West Ham striker, Andy Carroll . . . .

View attachment 300438

Carroll signs from West Ham for £7 million which could eventually rise to £9 million.

Carroll had a decent season last year but injury kept him from making a really big impact. He also failed to keep West Ham in the division.

Just before the Super Cup, we arranged loan spells for a couple of the younger lads . . .

View attachment 300432 View attachment 300431

New boy Zakaria Bakkali joins newly relegated Crystal Palace. The 19 year old is a way off our first team so this should do him good!

Federico Bonazzoli also left for a season long loan, this time to newly promoted side Nottingham Forrest. Bonazzoli obviously caught the eye last season with his impressive form in League One. We actually had over 30 offers from various clubs to take him on loan.

So, with all the transfers out the way, it's time to look at our pre-season results . . .

View attachment 300429

A good set of resuts there!

The one that really catches the eye is the 3-1 victory of French champions, PSG. It was a great performance from the lads with goals from Gameiro, Lamela and a Pastore own goal.

We also got some news about the managerial changes in the Premier League . . .

View attachment 300427

First of all, Liverpool appoint Italy, Galatasary and Fiorentia manager, Cesare Prandelli as successor to AVB who was axed at the end of the season.
View attachment 300426

Man Utd then appointed former Reds center back, Laurent Blanc from French champions PSG, Man Utd harshly sacked Van Gaal last season so Blanc has a lot to do to avoid the same fate.

Id say some great signing there mate,
Have you got rid of all the players over your budget now?

EUROPEAN SUPER CUP:

View attachment 300421

This year's European Super Cup is to held at the Mikheil Meskhi stadium in Georgia. With a capacity of only 25,000 this was a sell out within hours of tickets going on sale.

The Champions League winners, Real Madrid vs the Europa League winners, Tottenham.

On paper it looks to be bit of a miss-match, certainly in terms of budgets available anyway. Madrid had just spent £70 million in the transfer market while Tottenham have made a considerable profit for the second consecutive year.

View attachment 300419
Real Madrid line up with a 4-4-3 formation with young striker Jese Rodriguez leading the line with Christiano Ronaldo and Juan Iturbe acting as the wide forwards. Tottenham fans will be pleased to see old boy, Gareth Bale starting on the bench, although ex spurs midfielder Luka Modrid does start alongside Toni Kroos.

Tottenham on the other side have fielded their strongest line up which includes new signing Phil Jagielka. Tottenham will be relying heavily on Kevin Gameiro and will need to get support to him from Christian Erikson and Andros Townsend as quick as they can.

Real Madrid's starting line up = £215 million
Tottenham's starting line up = £90 million

View attachment 300409

Lets see how Tottenham get on . . .

REAL MADRID 1 - 2 TOTTENHAM

View attachment 300410

What an unbelievable win!!!

A pretty even game for the whole 90 minutes. Madrid definitely had the better chances but we were always in the game.

Madrid took the lead just after hour an hour through an unlikely source in left back Marcelo. Tottenham then hit back after only 5 minutes through Jan Vertonghen who headed home at the near post from a Christian Erikson corner.

The game then continued to be even with few chances for both sides, Madrid probably had the better opportunities but couldn't find a way past Lloris.

Marcelo then went from hero to villain as he played a lazy ball back to the goalkeeper without seeing Kevin Gameiro behind him. Gameiro then latched onto the ball and slotted home with ease to give Tottenham the lead with just 10 minutes to go.

Tottenham then sat back expecting the onslaught which never really came. Tottenham were then able to see the game and come away 2-1 winner.

TOTTENHAM WIN THE SUPER CUPView attachment 300406
Another trophy to tick off the list, it wasnt a bit one to win but the beat the European champions is some feat !!

View attachment 300404

So, Roy Hodgson also attended the game. He might now actually call up a couple of the English lads. I've been really disappointed with the amount of players being called up to the national side.

So far we only have Kyle Walker and Phil Jagielka in the squad.

Surely Townsend, Rose and Shelvey can't be far off and should have Dele Alli, Danny Ings, Harry Kane, Tom Cleverley, Zaha, Moore and Andy Carroll breaking through in the next year or two.

Now, I've created this table, which I'll also put on my initial post so people can see which tropies have been won and what work is still needed.
We've already won 3 competitions in little over 12 month but still have the big one's waiting to be won !
