First off, I'm an American, who is basically completely uninformed of the intricate dealings within a football organization. I bought the game after reading about it for years on the OOTP boards, and I must say, it's pretty god **** awesome. Wikipedia has been pretty helpful in answering the really silly questions I have, but a few still remain. It's pretty frustrating trying to completely learn a sport, especially when you already thought you were pretty sport savvy. Anyway, to the questions:
1.) Whenever I fork out a transfer fee for a player, and the team agrees to let me negotiate with the player, but the player doesn't agree to come to my team, does the transfer fee get refunded back?
2.) I really enjoy playing obscure African competitions (Ivory Coast/Ghana) as opposed to the England or EU (although I'd probably learn more from playing England), but I don't really understand the "youth system." Do young players automatically join your U18 team each year? What exactly is the best way to "build" your youth system? I've kind of taken a baseball approach, and tried signing young solid prospects from other teams in my league, but I keep getting these notes that say something about a pre-contract in 2 years, and that "xxxx team will need to be compensated $400k to $1.1 million." What exactly does that mean?
3.) Lastly, during matches, I've found a brilliant (for me, at least) tactic for the Arsenal, but at Half-time, my AM always tells me I need to start marking the posts for corners, what the **** does that mean? Speaking of the tactic, I cannot remember where I found it, it's called "arsenal, Sept. 2016" and it won't allow me to change anything during the match. I can make subs, but can't change the playing style on-the-fly or anything, because the menu is grayed out. Anyway I can change that? By chance, does anyone know where I can find this tactic? I remember the creator posted a bunch of information on the specific positions...
With all that said, I wanted to just emphasis that I have read the online manual, Wikipedia. and searched for these answers (especially on the tactic), however the manual pretty much assumes you know everything about football, and also have played the previous 10 (or however many) renditions of the game. I'm a big-time sports-management sim fan, and FM definitely beats out OOTP in some regards, it's just tough not knowing what 60% of the technical jargon means. Thanks for the help!
