Cheers mate!

Funny you should mention the Finland save, I loaded it up a few weeks back, resigned and simulated 20 or 30 years. FC Inter Turku had built a 2nd new stadium with a capacity of 63,950 seats! In fact, a load of teams had built new stadiums. Just look at how many people were watching Finnish league football in 2070.

View attachment 280741View attachment 280740

The biggest surprise though was that there were a few years where Inter Turku didn't win the league. In fact, in 2052 they didn't even finish in the top 3! When Lahti won it in 2052, they ended a streak of 36 title wins straight XD

Wow that's insane!!! :O Why doesn't it have FC Inter's attendance?
I loved that story of yours so much! :D

It was only 3 games into the season and they hadn't played yet. I did check their average attendance for the last few seasons and it was around the 50k mark.

Costa Rica
Gold Cup - 2019

Group Stage:

View attachment 280639View attachment 280638

A fairly routine group stage with comfortable wins over Trinidad and Tobago and Haiti sandwiching a hard fought 2-2 draw over tournament joint-favourites USA. The Costa Rican FA are expected to get to the semi final though so the job was not done there!

Quarter Final:

View attachment 280637

The draw was very kind to Costa Rica as they were able to come up against Guatemala who took just 1 point from their 3 games and qualified as one of two best placed 3rd team (so 8 teams from 3 groups of 4 go through, what is the point). Luckily this allowed Rafaelle to rest the majority of his team and still progress to the semi finals comfortably.

Semi Final:

View attachment 280636

What a victory! Mexico came into the game as odds on favourites with the bookies, however it turned out to be a very even match. Mexico fought back from 2-0 down to level it at 2-2, but a fantastic 40 yard cross from Bryan Oviedo was turned in at the back post by Joel Campbell in the 91st minute to win the game 3-2 and set up a semi final against USA.

Final:

View attachment 280635

Unfortunately this was a step to far for D'Aniello's side, with fatigue playing a massive part in a lackluster performance in the final. 2 late goals from Ruiz made the score more respectable at 4-2, however in truth they were never in the game and USA were deserved winners. Still, the Costa Rica FA are delighted with both the performance of the country at the tournament and the entertaining football played by their team as of late. If they had managed to win it they would have earned the chance to play in a playoff to go to the Confederations Cup, which would have been a great honour for Rafaelle but it wasn't to be...

Other News:

1)
3 bits of quick news from the summer so far. Aris have announced that they have been taken on as a feeder club of Lyon. They have also extended their scouting range to worldwide and Rafaelle has completed his Continental Pro License, meaning he is now fully qualified just 4 years into his career!

Next update will be a pre-season update for Aris, will Rafaelle be able to make significant improvements to his squad for a Superleague campaign?

Transfers:

View attachment 280577

A couple of first team players from last season left the club for money in Matias Suarez and Triantafyllou. Suarez was on the decline and his form dipped towards the end of last season and the other lad just wasn't needed anymore. Rafaelle found it hard to add significant quality, but the following players who get screenshots are the ones who will be challenging for the first 11 and the ones who don't get a screenshot are generally backup players. Jenssen and Dembele are the two he is most excited about.

Predictions:

View attachment 280572View attachment 280571

Both the bookies and the media predict that Aris will finish 11th out of 16 teams this season. The board are targeting a mid table finish but Rafaelle is hoping that they can push into the top half and maybe even challenge for the European places playoff (2nd to 5th).

Squad:

View attachment 280570View attachment 280569

Rafaelle is pretty happy with the squad at his disposal. Only 30 league games this season as opposed to the 38 of last year so the squad shouldn't get as stretched as last year either!

Tactics + Starting 11:

View attachment 280568View attachment 280567

Sticking with his trusted diamond, but he has loaded up his Costa Rica tactic as backup or if his team needs an injection of width.

Fixtures:

View attachment 280566

A fantastic pre-season form wise carried into the start of the season with 2 wins. The first was a hard fought 4-1 home win over Veroia in what was actually a pretty even game and the second one was a brilliant 2-0 win away at 11 time Greek champions AEK Athens.

Next update will cover the months of September and October...

View attachment 280560

A bit of a twist here. Rafaelle was not actively looking to move clubs as he is relatively settled and happy at Aris but he was then invited for a job interview with Brazilian champions Cruzeiro. They sit 2nd one point behind Corinthians with 15 games of the season to go but Rafaelle din't get the job. Would have been a great opportunity for Rafaelle but he is still very happy at Aris.

Fixtures:

View attachment 280309

Fantastic form for a newly promoted team, 4 wins and 2 draws from 6 league games to remain unbeaten in the league. The undoubted highlight of the period has to be an amazing 5-4 away victory in the big derby match against PAOK! Could an unexpected title challenge be on?

League Table:

View attachment 280310

Maybe. Aris sit top after 8 league games and as previously mentioned are unbeaten. Olympiakos have also started very well though and if they won their games in hand would jump above Aris.

Player Stats:

View attachment 280303

Both of the new strikers Dembele and Naciri have started extremely well and are proving to be worth their high wages. Rafaelle actually has his eyes on a free transfer striker who he believes would be even better than these two but currently doesn't have the wages free to bring him in! Sunzu and Donis are both performing better in the top division than they were in the b division and Chalkiadakis has continued his impressive form from last year.

Other News:

1)
The Aris board have injected a massive £4,000,000 to help the finances of the club. Rafaelle is working within his budgets set to him so the board cannot hold him accountable for any money problems...

View attachment 280302

2)
Costa Rica managed a 4-2 win over Australia in a friendly as well as a 2-2 away draw DR Congo. They then managed to beat Bermuda 7-0 on aggregate in the 2nd round of World Cup qualifiers to set up a 3rd round group against Honduras, Jamaica and Guatemala.

View attachment 280301

3)
After an unsuccessful interview at Cruzeiro, Rafaelle was invited for an interview with their fierce rivals Atletico Mineiro. 2 weeks has past since the interview and he hasn't heard anything back, but he will have a big decision to make if he's offered the job. On one hand it would be a big career jump to a massive club but it does feel as though he is building something at Aris and has some unfinished business in Greece.

View attachment 280299

4) Just a quick note from Rafaelle's old club KA, as they managed to regain their Icelandic league title!

Next update should be a November and December update, unless of course Rafaelle finds himself at a new club...

We're now 4 months through the Greek season and amazingly Aris are still unbeaten in all competitions! The league newcomers won 6 league games and drew 1 of their 7 league matches over the 2 months, as well as a credible draw in the cup against Olympiakos in a match which didn't really mean anything as both teams had already qualified.

League Table:

View attachment 280272

Top of the league and unbeaten after half of the games have played, we can definitely say Aris are in a title battle this season now. Big rivals PAOK currently look like the most likely challengers, 7 points behind but with a game in hand.

Player Stats:

View attachment 280271

Both strikers signings in Dembele and Naciri have proved to be inspired bits of business, with 14 goals scored each and 15 assists between them. Keeping the two of them fit could be massive in this title challenge.

Other News:

1)
Rafaelle didn't get the Mineiro job. He was also invited for an interview with
Borussia Mönchengladbach, but he declined as he wants to at least see this season out with Aris. Nice to see him getting this sort of recognition due to the jobs he is doing with Costa Rica and Aris.

2) Costa Rica played 2 World Cup Qualifiers. The won the first 4-3 away to Honduras and then disappointingly drew at home to Jamaica. Still, 4 points from those 2 games isn't a bad return. They ended the year in 49th in the World rankings, a nice jump up the rankings since Rafaelle took the job.

Next update will be of the Central American Nations Cup with Costa Rica. Not exactly the most reputable competition but would still be nice to win it!

Wow, what a season you are having! Moving to Brazil would be really hard not to turn down, but I think you should try and win the title with Aris this season. :)

3 comfortable enough victories over nations Costa Rica should be beating, sets up a final against their rivals Honduras.

View attachment 280214

****, another final loss for Rafaelle as manager of Costa Rica. After flying into a 2-0 lead in 15 minutes he thought it was going to be a routine victory, but Honduras fought back and Costa Rica needed a late goal in extra time to take the game to penalties. They then missed their first 3 penalties and lost the shoot out. Rafaelle was furious with his team, and with 2 years to go until the World Cup he took the drastic decision to resign!

View attachment 280213

Overall a decent reign but will be remembered for two final losses in the Gold Cup and Central American Nations Cup. Still, Rafaelle managed to lead them back up the world rankings by around 50 places and his performance as Costa Rica earned him a quick return to international management...

View attachment 280212

D'Aniello is now the new manager of a very decent looking Serbia side! His first game in charge is a massive Euro 2020 playoff semi final against former partnering nation Montenegro in March. If they win that they will progress to the final for a chance to qualify for Euro 2020. Here is the national pool sorted by price to give you some idea of the types of players at Rafaelle's disposal...

Next update will be a January and February update, can Aris continue their good form or will they come crashing down to earth?

Great stuff with Aris mate and unlucky to lose both finals with Costa Rica. Definitely developing a special manager that I'm sure will get an opportunity at on of the clubs soon. Keep up the good work.

Nice man! That Serbia squad looks really nice! Jovic, Mitrovic and Zivkovic should all be really good for years to come, would be really nice to qualify for the Euros

It's easy to forget that Aris are a newly promoted with their form in the first half of the season, but that has maybe started to show over the last couple of months. They finally lost their first game of the season in the first game after the turn of the year, and in total picked up just 10 points from the 8 games played in the new year. Add into that a disappointing 3-0 aggregate 3rd round cup exit against Xanthi and it's certainly not been a great period for Aris. It hasn't been all bad though, as they did manage to complete the derby double over tital rivals PAOK with a 3-1 home win, keeping Aris in touching distance of a title challenge...

League Table:

View attachment 279527

No longer top of the tree, Aris sit 5 points behind rivals PAOK with a game in hand and 7 matches to be played. As it stands PAOK will be favourites to win the league, but Aris certainly still have a good chance!

Player Stats:

View attachment 279526

I suppose one of the main problems Rafaelle has had since the start of the new year is a broken foot for one half of his deadly strike partnership, Toaufiq Naciri. Stathopoulos is a decent backup but doesn't give quite the return Naciri does.

Other News:

1) Rafaelle attempted to improve his squad during the transfer window but found it difficult. In the end, he brought in just one player in the form of Spanish attacking midfielder Juan Carlos.

View attachment 279520

2) Both the Aris record attendance and record gate receipts were broken in the home game against PAOK, another sign that Aris are heading in the right direction under D'Aniello.

Next update will cover the last 7 games of the season, can Rafaelle lead Aris to the their first Greek title since 1946 in their first season back in the top flight, or will they succumb to their big rivals PAOK?

Wow mate, superb in your first season in the top flight. It's been a sensational start, even if you don't win the title. Good luck for the remaining games.

Really good season man, even though you have dropped off a bit you still have a chance to win the league!

Semi Final:

View attachment 279485

A massive match for Rafaelle's first game in charge saw Serbia run out 3-2 winners over their former partnering nation Montenegro after extra time. With barely any time to work on tactics, this wasn't really a bad result. Luka Jovic put in a fantastic performance up top and bagged himself two goals. The big problem was that extra time left a lot of Rafaelle's first choice players extremely tired for their final against Slovenia.

Final:

View attachment 279484

And another game classified as a final ends in defeat for a team managed by Rafaelle D'Aniello! Once again his team did take the lead in the match, but to be fair Slovenia were by far the better team and did deserve their late winner scored by a terrible striker who has scored 1 goal in 17 games in the Slovenian league so far this season (I'm not bitter, I promise). The Serbian FA weren't happy with the result and made it clear to Rafaelle that improvements would be needed, and I'm sure with time to work on tactics with the team things will improve.

Next update will cover the last two months of the season...

Unfortunately Aris just couldn't get back to the sort of consistency in form which had them top of the league at Christmas. They were utterly outclassed at home to Olympiakos, and also dropped points against both Xanthi and Plantanias. Obviously this form was not good enough to win the title, but were they able to hold off a late challenge for 2nd and a place in the Champions League best placed 3rd qualifying round?

League Table:

View attachment 279463

Well, the answer is yes and no. Yes they did hold onto 2nd place in the league, BUT they are now entered into a European places playoff against the 3 teams below them, which is played as a 6 game competition where Aris will start on 2 points, Olympiakos and Tripolis start on 1 point and Panathinaikos will start on 0 points. So, if Aris finish bottom of the playoff and a team not in the top 5 wins the Greek cup Aris will not even qualify for Europe despite leading the league for most of the year!

Player Stats:

View attachment 279461

Dembele managed to break the Greek league goalscoring record with 21 league goals this season, who knows where D'Aniello's team would have finished if his strike partner Naciri had stayed fit in the 2nd half of the seasons.

Other News:

1)
Aris had a decent looking intake, with 2 potential future first teamers if they reach their potential. Still yet to see a Samminerese regen pop up at any of Rafaelle's clubs though!

Unlucky with Serbia mate, it's one thing that annoys me greatly, when a player hasn't scored all season always seems to score a vital goal against the team you manage, I guess that's football for you.
Good luck in the play off games, an interesting way to decide who qualifies, hopefully your big players stay fit.

Yesterday was the day for weird results for both of us :(, Great job with Aris anyhow
