Jose Mourinho Quits Madrid Post

(Mourinho handing in his resignation)

Real Madrid have confirmed that they have parted way's with manager Jose Mourinho after he handed in his resignation this morning. Although Mourinho (pictured above) was expected to leave Real Madrid in summer 2012 the exit has still come as a shock as he was expected to stay until the end of the season. Unconfirmed reports are coming in that Mourinho was growing inpatient with the boards transfer policy and wanted to add more players to the squad before the season began to try and overtake Barcelona as the top dogs in Spain. However backroom politics and growing pressure from the fans resulted in a bust up between the club and their former manager leading Mourinho to take drastic measures.

Mourinho is expected to take some time off from football to relax and calm his mind but speculation is already ripe over a move back to England. As for Real what does the future hold for them? They are still second best to Barcelona and the fans and board will be
anxious to name a big name replacement as soon as possible. Managers such as Rafael Benitez, Arsene Wenger and Marcello Lippi are being linked with the job but nothing has been confirmed yet from the club.

What does the future have in store for this great club? Will they ever manage to match Barcelona? Will the new manager be able to live up to the pressure and expectations of coaching one of the most successful clubs in the world?

Hi guys, this is my first story let me know what you think and any improvements or changes you have in mind.

Thanks :)

Real Madrid to appoint new manager soon

Real Madrid have confirmed that they will appoint their new manager by the end of the week. Arsene Wenger currently remains favourite to get the job with the odds of 1/6, Marcello Lippi and Rafa Benetiz are second and third favourites with the odds of 4/1 and 10/1 with the bookies.

However it appears a dark horse by the name of Diego Escuda has entered the race to be the new manager of Real Madrid. Diego has a very good reputation in Spanish football having played for Deportivo La Coruna his entire career and was a vital part of the team when they won the Spanish league in 2000. However Escuda was forced to retire in the summer of 2010 after he suffered a horrible leg injury which ended his playing career at the age of 32. He has since been a part of Deportivo's backroom staff working as a youth coach but is yet to manage a team at professional level.

Although bookies consider him to have an outside chance of 50/1 Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas was quoted in a Spanish magazine saying that he would be a "Great choice" and that all the players at Real would "fully back him as the new coach".

Escuda has not yet commented on the matter but with Real expected to announce their new manager soon it is only a matter of time before a decision is made.
