Liverpool have lost and missed the chance to go top of the Premiership due to Manchester United losing 1-0 to Blackburn and Tottenham losing 4-1 to Wolves. Liverpool were on the back foot for the whole game and never looked like winning. City took the lead on 16 minutes when Sergio Aguero played a ball through to Eden Dzeko who slotted the ball past Pepe Reina. City dominated and should of scored 3 more. They finally scored again on 75 minutes when Aguero scored a 30 yard screamer right into the top scorer.

Liverpool have beaten Swansea 4-1 but despite scoring 4 goals that does not hide the fact that Liverpool were very wasteful in front of goal today. Liverpool had a total of 31 shots with the majority of them going high or wide. Liverpool opened the scoring on 6 minutes when Steven Gerrard played a great ball through to returning striker Luis Suarez who slotted the ball into the back of the net to finish off a well worked move. After much domination from the Reds it wasn't until the 80th minute when Liverpool scored a second. Stewart Downing whipped in a brilliant corner which Martin Skrtel converted. Liverpool added a third on 86 minutes when Steven Gerrard scored a rocket of a free kick from 30 yards out that sailed right into the top corner. Swansea scored a consolation in the 89th minute when Mark Gower got on the end of Danny Graham's rebounded shot. Liverpool completed the rout on the 92nd minute when Steven Gerrard got his head onto a Glen Johnson cross. Man of the Match: Steven Gerrard
Liverpool's next challenge is a travel to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham

Jordan Henderson after scoring Liverpool's third

Liverpool have defeated Fulham 3-1 to advance to the top of the Premier League table. Though the scoreline does not suggest it, it was a very even match at Craven Cottage with both sides taking over 15 shots. The first goal didn't come until the 29th minute. Jordan Henderson played a superb ball through to Luis Suarez who ran in on goal. Suarez was then tackled by Phillippe Senderos, but the rolled past Mark Schwarzer and into the net for an own goal. Liverpool came out of half time looking motivated and on 47 minutes Giuseppe Rossi ran down the wing and put a cross into Steven Gerrard's feet. Gerrard took a touch and blasted the ball in. Liverpool went three up when Rossi once again ran down the line and but a low cross in. Luis Suarez slid in to get a touch and hit the post but Jordan Henderson was there to finish the rebound. Fulham got a consolation in the 76th minute when Bobby Zamora converted a penalty for a handball by Glen Johnson in the box.

Liverpool have prevailed over Sunderland 2-0 to advance to the Quarter Finals of the League Cup. Liverpool started off well and Sunderland never looked like winning. Liverpool scored their second when Jonjo Shelvey struck a rocket of a shot from 30 yards that flew past Craig Gordon into the top corner.

This years Quarter Final will be interesting as a Championship side is guaranteed a spot in the Semi Finals. The other three games are quite predictable as Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City are big favourites to advance over Bolton, Wolves and Blackburn. I am predicting to see Reading join them three in the Semi Finals and wouldn't be surprised if they defeated another Premiership side to advance to the final.

Alan Pardew Sacked
View attachment 247647

Alan Pardew has been sacked by Newcastle owner Mike Ashley. Newcastle have had an extremely poor start to the season and are currently sitting 18th on the table with 6 points from 10 games. Rumours are that Zvonimir Soldo, Glenn Roeder and Steve Clarke are all in the running for the vacant managerial position but former Newcastle legend Alan Shearer is currently the favourite to takeover.

Pepe Reina is awarded Man of the Match after a terrific performance between the sticks

Stewart Harris has been successful in his first ever Merseyside derby as Liverpool manager. Liverpool started off brilliantly when Steven Gerrard received the ball just inside the area and smashed it into the back of the net in the first minute. Liverpool continued their good start when on 16 minutes Jordan Henderson received a bouncing ball on the edge of the box and smashed it first time for it to hit the bar and go in. Things then started to go downhill for Liverpool as Jose Enrique was sent off for a vicious tackle from behind on Time Cahill. Everton continued to attack and dominate but Liverpool were rewarded a free kick just in front of the halfway line in the 62nd minute. Steven Gerrard chipped the ball to Andy Carroll who headed the ball and lobbed Tim Howard who had come to collect the ball but didn't reach it in time. Liverpool are one step closer to winning their first trophy in 6 years and will advance to Wembley if they can defeat Manchester City in the Semi Final. Liverpool were lucky to be up at half time but that goal motivated them and they took control in the second half.
