Big shock comes from Hungary today as FC Honved name unknown manager Jozsef Sebes as manager for the upcoming season. Sebes is best known for being the only living blood relative of Gustav Sebes, the manager of the Golden Team of the 50s. Jozsef has no previous management experience and never played professionaly. A spokesman for the club says despite being inexperienced Sebes shows great promise and wants to eclipse the achievements of his grandfather. Sebes unviel was pretty low key and only prepared a short statement and didnt answer any questions. This is the statement in full:

"Thank you for coming here today. I am over the moon to be offered the chance to manage this great club. We havnt been sucessful in the past twenty years or so but i want to bring good times like the 50s and late 80s back to this club. I want to do this by bringing some of the best home grown players here and bringing through youth players. I will encourage a fluid attacking style of play. I want to reassure all the players they will be given the season to impress me and nobody will be sold unless they wish to leave. I want to forge my own dynasty with this great club and when the surname Sebes is mentioned it will be because of me and not my late grandfather. I will not be answering any questions today and I hope my results on the pitch will silence my critics who say I am too inexperienced. That will be all, thank you."

Short and sweet from Sebes. Will he emerge from his grandfathers shadows or will the club be left red faced in the future. Only time will tell. Sebes has a few transfer targets in mind and promises some activity over the next few weeks.

This will most likely be my last FM save this year and possibly my last story ever so i plan on keeping it going as long as I can. Updates may not be every day as I have a lot on my plate but be patient and I will update.
Comment if your following.

Pre season update tomorrow...

Pre season Update:
As I left my assistant in charge of my freindlies I wont go into too much detail with them. I played smaller reputation teams purely to get confidence up and also to build fitness. That being said I was happy with 3 wins, 2 draws and just one defeat. Best player of the pre season was Emir Hadzic who was signed just before I joined the club. The striker linked play well and got on the end of some great chances. I already knew he would be vital but he only reaffirmed my suspicions that he will have a key part in our season.View attachment 271543

I decided to buck the trend and only sign Hungarian players during this transfer window. I may decide to stay with this policy in future but as of yet im not sure. July was a busy month with 4 players coming into the club and nobody leaving. I will give everybody a season to prove themselves before selling up.

Peter Pandur:
View attachment 271540

30 year old Pandur arrives on a free transfer. Peter plays only as a CB and despite being quite slow reads the game well and has good tackling and marking which is essential for a CB. I plan on rotating him in the squad and playing him alongside a faster partner. I will also look for Peter to teach youngsters about his understanding of the game.

Jozsef Kanta:
View attachment 271541

Kanta will most definately be the star of my team this year. The 27 year old playmaker will be the nucleus of my team and will play in the "hole" role made famous by Nandor Hidegkuti in the 40s. Jozsef arrives from MTK for a fee of £250k and will be the only fee i will pay out this season. Kanta is strong on the ball and has great set piece skills. When he arrived he instantly became the highest earner at the club and a lot of expectation will be placed on him.

Janos Zovath:
View attachment 271542

34 year old Janos returns to the club from a previous spell. Despite his age Zovath will hopefully play a key role in helping the club on. Zovath has great stamina, work rate and team work. Other than that he is pretty much an all rounder, he may not excel at any one thing but will offer good cover right across the midfield. Zovath will primarily be a backup player who will tutor youngsters.

Barnabas Gyore:
View attachment 271544

Gyore was brought in also on a free transfer. Despite being a right back he is also a contempt LB and CB. He was brought in purely because of the lack of quality wing backs at the club. Gyore will fit straight into the first team and at only 28 hopefully he has a few years in him.

Total money out: £250k
Total money in: £0

With the squad now looking a bit beefier I settled on my tactics. My primary tactic is an attacking 4-2-3-1 with focus on getting the ball into the opposition box quickly and my wingers cutting inside. My back up tactic is a slightly more defensive 4-4-2 which focuses on a pressing game and lots of closing down.

Next update will have the remainder of july and the first 3 league matches

July Update:

July combines the pre season and also the first 3 league games this season. I start with games against Ujpest, ZTE and Papa. The team will be looking to hit the ground running after the media predicted that we would finish 4th. The board also expect similar results after saying they expect to qualify for the Europa League in the coming season.

Ujpest(Hungarian First Division):
View attachment 271549
The 4-2 scoreline didnt flatter us as we outplayed our opponents for the entire game. Pleasing was a brace from Hadzic and also a magnificent volley from Kanta on his debut. We never fell behind in the game and gave the 5000 home fans something to cheer about. The only worrying sign was conceding two sloppy goals but this should sort itself out after the first few games when the team gels together.

ZTE(Hungarian First Division):
View attachment 271552
Well what a lucky escape that was. We were outplayed for most of the game but thanks to a link up between Nemeth and Hadzic seen the latter slam home the opening goal to sent the 200 or so travelling fans into raptures. We were pegged back later in the second half and were lucky not to concede more than the one goal. At least the defence seemed more stable today. There was one controversial point in the match when Kanta was taken down inside the box and no penalty was given late on in the 2nd half. I cant complain too much as we didnt deserve to win the game.

Papa(Hungarian First Division):
View attachment 271551
Well this was a comfotable win and brought us back to winning ways. 2 great goals from Hadzic and Tchami from Cameroon shot us in front and despite a late goal for Papa we never really looked in trouble. Norbert Nemeth got man of the match as he provided both of our goals which took his tally to 3 assists in the previous 2 games.

League Table:

We sit joint top after a good start. I really couldnt have asked for more from my players and hopefully we can keep up this good form and stay in or around the top. My assistant only had one concern and that was that some players seemed to have trouble motivating themselves for matches with such an inexperienced manager. Hopefully the next few games will eliminate that problem.

Player of the Month:
View attachment 271548

Who else could it be only Hadzic. The lad has been on fire scoring 4 goals in his first 3 games. It was after the final match I was told the lad never scored 4 goals in a season before but he looks sharp and focused and hopefully the goals will flow with us.

This looks like it could be good but I think you'll have to sign foreigners at some point for you to progress in Europe.

Cheers mate.
Well the plan is to keep with Hungarian players if I can. However if i find a player who is much better than anybody else in my team I will be tempted to sign them. But I want at least a 90% domestic bias as I will plan on taking over the national team at some point. To be fair I could win the CL in a couple of seasons if I sign foreigners and I want this to be a challenge too.

Thanks for reading. May be an update later but not sure :)

August Update 2011:

The transfer window came and went without any further signings. After a strong showing in July I was confident the squad I had would be strong enough for the season ahead. I met with the board once this month. I was mainly concerned about the lack of Youth facilities and asked if there was any chance we could improve them. The chairman said he wishes we could improve them but right now the money wasnt there for such a commitment. Other news we discussed was raising the transfer percentage i would recieve to invest in new players and he also agreed to increase the junior coaching to give our young players some more dedicated training time to develop them. This month we had 4 league games and also seen the start of the Hungarian Cup Group stage.

Gyori
Hungarian First Division

View attachment 271808
The first half was a boring game where both teams missed a few easy chances. Despite this Gyori led at half time and I told the players this wasnt good enough. The game kicked into life in the second half as we scored 3 goals without reply and Gyori scored a consolation goal near the end but at that stage we were in full control. Norbert Nemeth shone in the match by scoring one and creating another chance for Hadzic.

Diosgyor
Hungarian First Division

View attachment 271807
Well what a let down that was. I was confident that we could walk away with a win today. Despite having a player advantage in the second half the team slumped to a 1-0 defeat. The game was dull and no player really stood out for either team. Our best performer was Kanta who linked well and never stopped trying. Dissapointing to lose but hopefully our form will turn around

Videoton
Hungarian First Division

View attachment 271810
We were robbed in the first half when the ref gave a handball in our box to gift Videoton a 1-0 lead through the penalty spot. Despite being 1 down I told the players we were doing well apart from the goal and just keep our heads down and the result would come. Hadzic scored a real poachers effort and we struggled to get close to the goal again for the rest of the match. Lady luck was on our side though when Bozovic passed back to the Videoton keeper but overshot his pass and kicked the ball straight into his own net. Came away with a well deserved 2-1 victory.

Pecs
Hungarian First Division

View attachment 271813
Wow is all I can say. The players looked disintrested before the match given that on paper we were much stronger and should be comfortable winners. Pecs played the game of their life and ran out comfortable winners with a 3-0 scoreline. Things started bad when Kanta headed back into his own goal on the 7th minute and we never recovered. The players were told after the match that this simply wasnt good enough and they must improv their mentality.

MTK
Hungarian League Cup

A much better showing that the previous match. Nemeth shone again and provided a goal and an assist today. Hopefully we can repeat this form against stronger opposition.

League Table:

Despite a mixed month of 2 wins and 2 defeats we still sit in 4th place. Just one point seperates us from the top of the table so we havnt lost much ground. Heres hoping September is a more consistent month for us...

Player of the Month:
Norbert Nemeth

View attachment 271812
After a poor month Nemeth was the only player who shone through. 2 goals and 2 assists was a good contribution from the somewhat defensive minded midfielder.

September 2011 Update:

Videoton
Hungarian League Cup Group Stage:

View attachment 271849
A nice win that kept us top of the Cup Group table. We have a real chance of progression in the cups this year and I would love some silverware.

Vasas
Hungarian First Division

View attachment 271848
After our mid week game I decided to rest 9 faces and give a few squad players a chance against minnows Vasas. They impressed and despite only drawing 3-3 I was pleased with the result.

Siofok
Hungarian First Division

View attachment 271846
A great win today and a masterclass by Hadzic. 4 shots and 3 goals from the deadly striker. Clearly an integrap part of our team. When he plays well we usually win.

Bocs
Hungarian Cup 3rd Round

View attachment 271844
A good win overshadowed by the dissapointment of Hadzic getting injured. Richard Vernes, a youth prospect entered the fray on 20 minutes and only took another 20 mins to score. Great debut from the lad and will have a future here. Diaby also scored in consecutive games since I changed to my 4-4-2 set up to allow for better chance conversion.

Haladas
Hungarian First Division

View attachment 271845
A match we couldnt lose. A win would have put us top of the league. However Novak was sent off for a cynical foul early in the 2nd half and after that the team struggled and Haladas created chance after chance and ran away 2-0 winners. Bitter dissapointment but hopefully the results will come and propel us back to the summit.

League Table:

A month in which I have no outstanding player. Hadzic as usual deserves mention and also Nicolas Ceolin who is on loan at the club also had a fine month on the wing but neither deserve any special praise.

October update at some point later tonight.
Hopefully will get to december by tomorrow night and finish the first season over the weekend.

Thank you. I always had a facination with the Golden Team and Kocsics and Brozik in paticular. As Honved were the main team back then it was only right to play as them before the national team to get some experience. Thanks for following.

Oh and if you dont speak english(google translate):
Köszönöm. Mindig volt egy facination az Aranycsapat és Kocsics és Brozik a paticular. Mivel honvéd voltak a fő csapat akkoriban ez volt egyetlen helyes játszani, mint őket, mielőtt a nemzeti csapat, hogy némi tapasztalatot. Köszönöm a következő.

No, I am Irish. I just have a fascination with the Hungary team of 37-47 and also of Honved of the same time :)
Thanks you :)

Sorry for lack of updates. Game froze on me and had to reload the game from the end of july, hadnt saved since then. I have played through to where I was and used RTE to edit the table to exactly how it was beforehand. 1 update in a few minutes and another in the morning as I have reached the end of November now.

Hungarian First Division vs Debrecen

A great game against one of the front runners of the league. The entire team pulled together well and nobody set a foot wrong all game. Glad with Ceolins contribution where he got a goal and an assist.

5.10.2011
League Cup Group C vs Gyirmot

View attachment 272231
A great win today. I rested my usual strikers and played 2 youngsters up front. Volant was the star of the match. 2 goals and an assist from the young 19 year old striker was an excellent contribution. Hopefully he can continue his form and play a part in our season yet.

12.10.2011
League Cup Group C vs MTK

View attachment 272237
What a game. We broke records left right and center. Ceolin on the scoresheet again and set up 3 goals. But nobody could steal the limelight from star player Gergely Delczeg. 6 goals and an assist was a phenonomal impact from the striker. Broke club and Cup records galore in this match.

15.10.2011
First Division vs Ferencvaros
View attachment 272232
Today was just one of those games where nothing went to plan. We held our own in the game but their players had more luck in front of goal. A dissapointing loss which would have seen us challenge for the top of the table had we won.
22.10.2011
First Division vs Kecskemet
View attachment 272236
Despite Kanta being sent off early on for a viscious tackle we held our own and came away with a credible 2-2 draw. Nemeth had a great game from midfield and set up both of our goals.

26.10.2011
Hungarian Cup 4th Round vs Papa

View attachment 272238
What a game for the neutrals and the fans. 10 goals were shared and our star was undoubtedly Nicolas Ceolin who scored a hat trick. Looking forward to progressing further in the cups.

29.10.2011
First Division vs Paks

View attachment 272233
Signs of progress today as Hadzic and Delczeg combined well and scored the 4 goals between them. Its great to see Hadzic come back from injury and find his feet so easily again. Hopefully he can keep this rich vein of form up

League Tables:

We look comfortable to progress through the cup group as we sit top. The league is slightly more dissapointing. Despite not being on the top were not far off second place and its a realistic ambition to get this season and challenge the top team.

Player of the Month: Gergely Delczeg
View attachment 272229
Ok only one goal in 3 league Games but what a game in the cup match. His 6 goals in one game broke all kinds of records both club and also league records. Have a feeling it will be the performance of the season.

It's nice to see you writing again :) I'll peek few times just be sure you're on the right track :P
Good luck bud.

Cheers mate. I have wanted to do another story but was struggling with time. It may not be as well written as my other stories but I relate the screenshots instead of text because not many people will be familiar with Hungary of their players :)

Doing November update now :)

Doing better than I could do in Hungary. As a Liverpool fan I'm sure you have heard of Peter Gulacsi, he is a great hungarian shot stopper and is generally transfer listed. He might be worth a look when you have the cash.

November/December 2011 Update:

Well another busy month this time around for November. Plenty of games although only 3 league games this month. Im hoping to progress through to the next round in both cups and go all out for 3 wins in the league also. A big player this month should be fit again Hadzic who is our key goalscorer.
December however promises to be much quieter with just 2 games due to the winter break.

5.11.2011
Division 1 vs Kaposvar
View attachment 272359
A great win for us and the game was wrapped up in the first half when we led 3-0 after only 41 mins. Hadzic, Tchami and Kanta all scored great individual efforts.

9.11.2011
Hungarian Cup Group C vs Videoton
View attachment 272356
I decided to expiriment with a few youth players in this match and it almost paid off. 2 goals hit the woodwork and we still managed a credible 1-1 draw thanks to Kanta who came out of nowhere and set us up in the lead. We conceded but held on and clinched a draw which guaranteed us a Quarter Final Place.

16.11.2011
Hungarian Cup Group C vs Gyirmot

View attachment 272352
A great showing today as our 4 man attack terrorised the opposition. All 4 attacking players got on the score sheet but the star was Hadzic how came up with a hat trick today. The little Bosnian has been key for me this season and his goals are invaluable.

19.11.2011

First Division vs Ujpest
View attachment 272361
Another masterclass by my attack. 4 attackers on the scoresheet again but this time it was the little Brazilian Ceolin who stole the show. 2 goals and 2 assists from the maestro gave him a well deserved man of the match.

23.11.2011
Hungarian Cup 5th Round 1st Leg vs Szolnok

View attachment 272360
A great 5-3 away win which gave us a great chance of qualifing for the Quarter Final. Tchami got a brace and Hadzic was also on the scoresheet today.

26.11.2011
First Division vs Papa

View attachment 272353
How did we lose this one, we controlled the match, had plenty of chances and restricted their chances. They had 4 shots on target and score 3. Its just our luck some days. Bitterly dissapointed but I can be happy with our performances over the past 6 games. Its also a conselation that Hadzic has scored in every game he played this month and also plenty of other scorers this month.

December 2011:

3.12.2011
First Division vs ZTE

View attachment 272357
Another dissapointing game which led to consecutive league defeats. Novak being sent off early didnt help matters and we were forced to chase the game after his dismissal. Utterly dissapointing to lose ground when we were closing in on the leaders. This latest result has seen us drop to 5th place.

10.12.2011
Hungarian Cup 5th Round 2nd Leg vs Szolnok
View attachment 272354
Whoever said 3rd time lucky clearly didnt know anything about football. We slumped to our 3rd consecutive defeat for the first time this season. Luckily we still progressed to the quarter final through away goals. I made it known to the players that they must improve if they are to retain a place in the squad. Hopefully it will be enough to spur them on.

League Table:(not including the one december game)

View attachment 272358
We have been perfoming as the media expected and currently occupy 4th place. We still have a chance on closing in on the leaders but our consistency must improve now if we are to launch a late title challenge.

Player of the month:Emir Hadzic

View attachment 272351

Who else could be player of the month after hadzic scored 7 goals in his 5 matches this November. Hopefully he brings this form with him into the next year and propel us up the leaue table.

Overall I am happy with the season so far. We are still challenging on 3 fronts and Europe looks like a real possibility. The winter break couldnt come at a better time for us as we have looked jaded recently and hopefully the break will do us good. Will there be any players arriving in january? Stay tuned to find out :)

Doing better than I could do in Hungary. As a Liverpool fan I'm sure you have heard of Peter Gulacsi, he is a great hungarian shot stopper and is generally transfer listed. He might be worth a look when you have the cash.

Oh iv heard of him along with Kristian Nemeth. I will be keeping an eye on both over the coming seasons and hopefully be in a position to sign one of them. Right now I lack the funds, wages and stature to offer them unfortunately. Hopefully that can change in time :)

January and Febuary 2012 Update:

These 2 months promised to be lax with only 2 competitive fixtures. I decided to organise 7 mid season friendlies purely to keep fitness up and so I could expiriment with new tactics and players. During the break I decided to reinforce my staff and signed 2 new scouts, a youth coach and also a coach.

View attachment 272457

They wernt the only additions as I secured the services of 2 players also and arranged for 2 more to join at the end of the season when their contracts expired.

View attachment 272458
First up we have Carlos Monterrey. The 20 year old winger hails from Panama and is a real versatile player. He has good flair and stamina and hopefully he can spend some time here before being moved on for profit. He is also the first non hungarian player I have signed but I only see him at the club in the short term.

View attachment 272456
Szekeres is something of a coup for the club. Aged just 22 the defender is already as good as my best centre and right backs and I have high hopes for him. I initally didnt have the funds but I asked the board and theyagreed they would do all they could do to sign him.

22.2.2012
League Cup Quarter Final Leg 1 vs Diosgyor

View attachment 272459
Great to see the team back to winning ways and looking forward to the 2nd leg so we can cement a place in the semi final. Diaby had a hand in both goals by deflecting the ball in for the first and scoring the 2nd himself

25.2.2012
First Division vs Gyor

View attachment 272460
What an embarrasment...Completely outclassed and 4-0 down at half time. Hadzic tried to restore some pride scoring soon after the restart but nothing else of note happened for us in the match except for a violent tackle by Hadzic himself which earned himself a straight red. Its looking likely he will end up with a 3 game ban.

League Table:
View attachment 272461
Quite a dissapointing showing from the club after losing the last 3 league games. Still only 5 points off 2nd place and thats my ambition this season. Form must improve though

You are unlucky in the league but doing well in the cup. Don't you mean Krisztian Adorjan though? Adorjan can turn out to be a decent player and is also from Liverpool.
