If you're asking if the tactic is still working if you turn the Sweeper into a normal defender --> No

If you're asking if you can sacrifice another Position instead if the sweeper if you catched a red card --> Sure, depends on the current result, but i'd recommend to sacrifice the sweeper playing defender.

If you meant anything else, I didn't get it :)
I meant say if I had the striker sent off would you sacrifice the sweeper and leave 2 at the back or would you arrange the set up to still have 3 at the back

If winning then you would obviously keep your backline intact.

Losing then yes I'd probably sacrifice a defender for the attacker or moving one of the segundo forward into CM or AM to support is another option to think about.
