I learned some stuff about what roles work well together, so decided to jot it down...
Disclaimer:
Do not ever use more than one playmaker. Dlp if using a less agressive strategy, advplay or treq if using a more agressive strategy.
If not using at least two players that run from deep often, like inside forward attack or winger attack, do not use a dlf or treq as striker. Use a poacher or advanced forward or target man instead, some role that can work without support.
Duties: Balance them always. Never use more than 3-4 attack duties. Never use all same duties in one area. Mix more. You need as many blue (defensive) duties as you have attacking, or more.
Roles:
Sweeper keeper - use if you don't have a covering defender or sweeper, otherwise use regular gk.
Defenders - Use same role and defend duties if playing on offside trap. Stopper duties are usefull with more agressive strategies and high defensive line, and if you have attacking fullbacks or wingbacks. Chose one cover duty or a sweeper if playing a normal or deep defensive line. With DM's in your formation, there is less need for stopper duties as DM's will take care of high balls and closing down early. Limited defender if you just want them to clear the ball, central defender if you want them to keep possession, and bpd if you want him to start counter attacks.
Full back support - usefull in combo with inside forward attack, winger attack and wide mid attack
Full back attack - usefull in combo with inside forward support, winger support, wide mid support or def wing support/defend
Wing back support - usefull in combo with adv play attack, or if playing without flanks
wing back attack - usefull with adv play support or if playing without flanks
Complete wing back - same as above
DM defend - usefull instead of a bwmd, use if playing a high line and agressive strategy
DM support - usefull if you need a box to box player in DM position
DLP - usefull to bring the ball out of defence, should be used with less agressive strategies, and as only playmaker
BWMD - usefull to brake up attacks, should be used with more agressive tactics
Box to box - usefull if you need to connect offense and defense, for example between a DM and an adv play/treq. Also needed when using wingers to get on end of crosses. Also usefull against oppositions AMC
CM attack - usefull in stretching defenses, for example, an inside forward goes into box and joins your striker, while cm attack dribbles wide...
Adv play. - if playing him in AMC position, support if you have nobody in CM position , or attack if you do. Should be used with more agressive strategies and shorter passing style, and be your only playmaker. Can roam.
Treq - same as adv play attack. the only two roles that should roam...if used as striker, have at least two players that run from deep often to support him (cm attack, winger attack or inside forward attack)...
Inside forward attack - should be used if playing a deeper def line, so he has space to run, should be supported by fbs. He is effectively your number nine and main goalscorer, so you need a number ten instead of other goalscorers
Inside forward support - usefull if using attacking fullbacks, can be used with all defensive lines but works best with high
Winger Attack - should be used if playing a deeper def line, so he has space to run, usefull for stretching defences, and crosses from out wide. Should be supported by fbs
Poacher - should be used with a deeper defensive line, so he has space to run. Can be used as target man with him set to run onto balls. Should use drill crossess
ADV. forward. - same as poacher, except float crosses.
Target man - should be used with a high defensive line and agressive strategy...
That's it from me, for now....
